A couple of questions for any Newcastle fans or anyone in the know......

    - Strikers.....is it likely that Ba will be a starter, or a possible rotation risk?

    - Marveaux........haven't heard his name spoken on this site yet, yes he is injury prone, but he's a great player. Will he be a starter?? At only 5mil I see him as a potential bargain.

What do people think/hope that Aguero's price is.

Personally I hope he is 10.0 or less, but I think he'll come in at 10.5, which would be particularly annoying.

Aguero will 100% play regardless, look at Mancini with that tw@t Balotelli, he still keeps giving him a chance, Aguero will be nailed on but will obviously be a better option without Tevez, I just wonder whether he'll hack it, he's quite lightweight and I'm personally yet to be convinced.

At the beginning he will be, as Dzeko was until he didn't score forever. I'd say most of Citys team is predictable: Hart Kompany Lescott (if they don't sign a CB) De Jong Yaya Silva are all nailed on IMO.

Me too. But say Tevez is still here come the community shield, and Aguero starts, then I will definitely look to get him in, even if it is just for GW1. And if he doesn't, I'm sure Mancini's tactics will vary between Man U, and Swansea (H), so think he may start. Maybe even a cheeky (C) choice.

Dorrans had a strange season, personal problems and injuries didn't help him at all obviously. Not going to hype him up as much as I did last year but I would just wait and see and judge him on the season ahead, he is definitely still amongst the best in our squad imo.

People keep citing this one game, probably because Savage wouldn't shut up about it.

Players don't perform/score in every game. Alex Song marked Rooney out of the game at the Emirates last season, yet no one cites that as a reason to not pick Rooney. And rightly so.

U can say that about any attacking player, it's just picking someone who doesn't get marked out as much as he does. U have to consider what's around him too. I think the reason Adam did well on the bap front was he saw a lot of the ball as he plays quite deep so got a lot of touches, Taarabt plays much higher up the pitch which means he more potential for assists and goals from open play but he might not get as much of the ball, it's a tough call...

What people forget is that in that game Derby triple teamed Taarabt, it wasn't just Savage one on one. If it was Taarabt would have killed him.

Watch the game again. Every time Taarabt got the ball there were 3 Derby players forming a circle around him.

The main thing Taarabt did wrong in that game is that he stayed on the left wing. Had he have gone up the middle instead he wouldn't have been 'boxed into a corner' which is where his problems came from.

After the game Warnock alluded to this and acknowledged that we got it tactically wrong. Routledge was at fault as well as he should have seen this and told Taarabt to stay up the middle and he take over that wing.

Towards the end of the season the crappier teams in that division were tripling up on Taarabt a lot.

                  Very difference scenario though.

In the Championship, QPR were easily the best side in the division, so tea set out to stop them playing.

Now they're a small fish in a much bigger pond, team won't be wasting 3 players on one man, they'll be out to win the game.

I think that is optimistic. He will be up against faster, stronger, fitter and more intelligent defenders (unless he is playing Wolves LOL) and that is exactly what he did not have in the championship.

It's not optimistic it's fact. Teams won't play three players on him. The teams will be better, of course, but ultimately he'll be given more space.

I'm not saying he'll definitely do well in the Premier League, but he was clearly too good for the Championship, so it's far from out of the question.

Judging him on the basis of one game (which I'm not sure how many people here even saw, I certainly didn't), is ridiculous.

He's an attacking midfielder, he gets marked all the bloody time. People are talking as if being marked will be as some alien concept to him.

I agree. It's a big adjustment to move from a lower league to the Premiership.

Tarrbat has already played for Tottenham though so he may already be aware of the pace of the league but he's been playing against minnows compared to the top dogs. It will definetly take time.

Same can be said for Wickham. Although he could be the new Carroll. The Sunderland vs Newcastle game will be a good indication of his ability.

I've even taken risks on expensive players before the start of the season and they haven't scored.

              Antonio Valencia for example.

Try players that ended the season on a good note like Gareth Bale last year. Or try players that have had a good 3+ seasons that are in a new team.

A player is really only as good as his alternatives for a given price and how he performs for value. Fabregas, Lampard, Torres and whoever else is rated 12 aren't on anyone's RMT drafts and for good reason: their prices don't justify the risk. How many better players can you name than Taarabt that have Prem experience, good fixtures, the center of the team and are worth 6.5?

I actually have both tbh, i'm just suggesting all the attention Taarabt is getting isn't entirely bandwagon-induced. (although that's likely how it got started)

Also. Speaking of risks. Looking at the beggining of the season from the years gone by there's always a surprise from what I call 'lease of life players'. In all the talk of big money signings there's always one bargain basement player that will score a few goals in a game and then completly diassapear. Marlon Harewood anyone??

Nigel Reo Coker could be this years Harewood. I just have a hunch. Bolton's fixtures don't look great though. I will be considering him if his price was around 5.5 or 6.0? We'll see soon I suppose.

Adam. Remember that guy? Sometimes the risk is worth it.

Fact is that no one knows yet how any player from the Championship is going to perform. No one knows how Rooney, Lamprd, Van Persie are going to do either. Any one of them could have a down year for all we know.

First time playing fantasy I hope my current roster doesn't show it: Given (Freidel)
    Hughs/Cole A/Vidic (Barsley,Jose Enrique)

    Dempsey/Yaya Toure/ Taarabt/ Barton (Jarvis)

    Odemwingie/Davies K/Hernandez

I'm noticing that no one has been picking up Odenmwingie, am i missing something?

Oh dear that front line! You need money out the defence and upgrade the front. The midfield is dodgy too.

Your backline is pretty expensive. Maybe downgrade Vidic to Kompany and Friedel to Ruddy/Kenny. You also need a big player up top, I personally wouldn't bother with K.Davis and Hernandez could be a rotational risk. You could maybe go with Zamora/RVP with downgrades elsewhere.

Drogs has been awesome on FF, but this year? might need to wait and see how Chelski shape up? Suarez knackered after Copa America? A must have at some point i agree, but GW1?

I would look to upgrade Wes and Graham, maybe by downgrading Silva to Yaya?

i reckon literally 50-50. they're twins, they love each other, they don't seem at all jealous of each other or rivals, they are basically the same player so can seamlessly swap in and out. they can also cover evra every now and then on the left to give him a rest. basically well done alex ferguson with those two

            fabio is generally left sided
the problem with both the Da Silva twins is how tragically injury prone they are.
Even when they are fit to start a match its 50/50 whether they'll finish it

I think it's fair to judge a players potential for points in the same team surrounded by pretty much the same players but Downing is in a different & (although u may not agree) better team so he could do a lot better.

Don't like VDV's first 6 fixtures (but that might not stop him!). Personally I wouldn't jump straight on Aguero, would rather someone more proven at the start. And, Ferguson??? At least get someone who will play...

I was not sure who to have as Chelsea coverage (Torres or Malouda) so I have tweaked my team to have none but be able to bring in either in GW2 in 1 transfer, as follows:

    Given - Ruddy
    Baines - Kompany - Orr - Ward - Simpson
    Silva - NZog - Taraabt - Sessegnon - Moses
    RVP - Bent - Zamora

    £1m bank

So, GW2 I either do Silva > Malouda or Bent > Torres depending how they are shaping up. How does this look? I like it. A lot.

    Thanks

this may not go down well as he was a failed bandwagon last season but martin petrov is a potential bargain imo. as soon as their first 7 or so fixtures are out the way of course. he actually did quite well last season points per minute wise, just needs regular starts. always very attacking and whips in a mean free kick and corner for the likes of gary cahill

yeah, definite worry there. delving into my memory and trying to remember eagles' time at burnley. wasn't he always right sided? although i gues that wont stop him being able to play on the left. coyle letting go of matt taylor then snapping up eagles so quickly was a worrying sign for petrov's prospects.

            No. Check this out ...

            Kenny, (Moreira)
Moreira was Benfica’s no. 2, and was called into the Portugese squad for Euro 2004. QPR/SWA rotate perfectly. I don’t expect to get any clean sheets, but hope for save points from both, at a combined cost of 8.5!
