West Brom have this evening announced the loan signing of Ben Foster from Birmingham. The stopper joins on a one-year deal with Boaz Myhill moving in the opposite direction.

Foster’s return to the Premier League is not only significant news for the Baggies camp, it’s also a huge development for Fantasy managers.

Foster proved a major Fantasy asset whilst at Birmingham last season, despite suffering relegation to the Championship. He kept 9 clean sheets but also topped the rankings for saves scoring 32 Save Points in 38 starts. That allowed him to emerge as a strong value option with an initial 4.5 price tag in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, earning him recognition in our Fantasy team of the season.

We now await Foster’s valuation throughout the games with a price tag of 4.5-5.0 expected in the FPL. That would see Foster earn plenty of initial squad investment – there’s little doubt that he will have plenty of opportunity to fetch a strong Save Point total at the Hawthorns. However we should also consider that the Baggies kept just 2 clean sheets last term – the lowest in the league.

The shrewd Fantasy manager will note that Foster works superbly in tandem with Villa’s Shay Given – another early favourite for the goalkeeping position in our squads. That particular pairing offer up a strong run of opponents and fixtues (ful BLA WOL nor NEW FUL WIG WOL WBA LIV NOR BOL swa qpr WIG bla) right up until Gameweek 17. That’s by no means the only combination available however – Foster’s arrival back in the Premier League will now cause many of us to reconsider our options between the sticks.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Okay, RMT please. Subbed all night.

    Kenny - Given
    A Cole - Riise - Kompany - Alcaraz - Enrique
    Moses - Benayoun - Silva - Taarabt - N'Zogbia
    Bent - A Johnson - Rodallega

4.0 in bank. Planning to do Bent to RVP at some time.

      3 Wigan players? Yikes

It's not exactly a premium strike force. Could knock one of your more expensive defenders down to gain an extra million and upgrade Rodders or AJ.

    OR

Yaya, Rodellega and Dyer are poor choices.

I'd suggest downgrading Rooney and one of the keepers and improving those players.

Yaya - I think you've missed a trick by leaving Silva out.
Lampard-no thanks. VDV does the same for 2 mill less.
      Dyer 😯
Rooney should be RVP who will outscore him.
Hot Rod just isn't productive enough to warrant inclusion.

I reproduce this, from the Guardian today, without comment:

    • Finally Lynne Truss, that guardian of prose and grammar, reveals in Saga magazine that she gets a particular kind of fan mail. "A reader from America has sent me a picture of a sign from inside a high school: 'Please do not eat, drink or discard diapers in exam rooms. Thank you.' He is shocked by the implications of this sign, obviously. People are eating diapers? In exam rooms? So you mean kids are doing this? By all that's holy, what is the world coming to?' I thanked him for thinking of me, but decided at the last minute not to send him by return my favourite sign from outside a British hospital: 'Family planning advice; Use rear entrance.' This poor chap had already made it clear that he was sensitive, and I didn't want to push him over the edge."

anyone considering Richard Dunne at 5.5 and with Given between the sticks he should be good for plenty of CS and the odd goal. Big Eck knows how to build a defence also.

Hadn't looked at him, but could be a killer at 5.5

However Given is a better option and I'm already doubling up for the good Villainous fixtures with N'Zogbia.

Doubling up the Villa defence or changing keeper choice for Dunne's benefit seems a step to far...

Damn this Foster move. I had Myhill already for his dovetailing with Given, so now I'm more or less obliged to switch for Foster, even though now everyone else will.

Ted-the one thing not noted about Foster at BIR, was the number of shots the Birmingham defence gave up in front of goal.

I think it was the highest in the league, hence Foster's save points.

I'm not saying it won't happen at WBA - Woy Boy will be keen to tighten at the back - but it's something worth bearing in mind if selecting Foster.

I think it's mostly a case of 'wait and see' at the moment... once we see Kenny's preferred line up, we can expect to see a rise in transfers IN...

On a personal note, and looking at their run of games... they don't exactly have a spell of games that beg for investment tbh...

S.Sinclair is the one to look for this season, he takes every set piece and surely a bonus point king. Not 100% sure on benayoun due to rotation, but pre season he looks good. Should i take a hit up front and improve the midfield?

I've updated my team once more. More captain choices you said? I bring you:

    Kenny, Given
    Kompany, Alcaraz, Briggs, Alex, Simpson
Moses, Benayoun, N'Zogbia, Silva, Ben Arfa
    Bent, RVP, Suarez

Some dodgy players, perhaps, but this will be sorted out before the start of the season. SO?

      Yep more captain choices buddy.

IMO it is all about having at least 3 decent captain choices to choose from.

I liked the look of benayoun (Israeli looking heroin addict) but too much uncertainty for me.

one of the best teams ive seen
myabe rooney for rvp thats a personal choice because even though he will score less he is more likely bonus points player as he usually involved in goals somehow and works much harder and less injury prone
moses and briggs are the only risks as briggs will not play once dempsey is back even though he is oop and dont understand all the moses hype

hmmm it's fairly good, i would try and get bent in and n'zog out, and i think ruddy needs to be swapped out for a rotation goalie. Baines could be risky, i say wait to see his form and whether he will be 100% on pens, set pieces etc. You also need some chelsea coverage IMO, maybe baines for Cashley.

Not an RMT. No. Instead, marvel at the way the cheap goalies rotate sweetly, well into the first wildcard zone. Gasp as you see how the £4M defenders - 3 of em - always have one resonable-ish chance of a cleanie between them. This could be the one.
