We delve into the Gameweek 5 data this evening in our first members article of the week. Wayne Rooney’s new role for United comes under analysis, as do Burnley and Leicester’s displays up front, whilst a couple of north London-based frontmen are also placed under the microscope after their contrasting weekend performances.
Who do I get rid of:
A. Ramsey
B. Rooney
C. Krul
D. SaveTough call, very tough. Depends on replacements, but probably A.
Krul or save
Depends who you want to switch each option to... I've literally just done
Begovic, Ramsey> Schmeichel & ADMNot willing to do a hit. It would either be Rooney to Falcao, Ramsey to ADM or Krul to Forster.
I asked earlier about Rooney> Falcao or Ramsey> ADM... Most popular response was transferring out Ramsey... However, based in what you've just put, I'd definitely do Krul> Forster
Cheers.
C
d
Ramsey > ADM
Krul
What's more important: Southampton's lack of attack or QPR's lack of defending?
The latter. ..absolutely hopeless!!
QPR away is an automatic 4-0 😀
So I'd say the latterDidn't soton put 4 past Newcastle?
It's a 0-0 waiting to happen 😉
Dzeko & rooney --->costa & falcao?? (4 point hit tho)
Just Dzeko to Costa
Cheers..think falcao could explode..rooney is too frustrating to watch and plays deeper
Falcao only touched the ball twice in the penalty area against Leicester. I have him and hoping he's in for a big week but yesterday wasn't very promising. Think Rooney has to go soon with his deeper position but wouldn't want to sell him for a hit this week.
Ya but only got ball at his feet proper twice..and hit the bar and had assist from them..see where your coming from tho..possible bold capt call this week
Definitely
Team at the moment for GW6 (2 FTs, £0.1m ITB):
Begovic
Clyne Evans Moreno
Fabregas Di Maria Sterling Sigurdsson
Pelle Costa Balotelli
subs - McCarthy, NTaylor, Moore, Zaha
Best move(s) this week?
a) Evans > Duff/Wisdom
b) Evans & Balotelli > Falcao & Wisdom/Duff
c) Evans & Balotelli > Ivanovic & Welbeck
d) Evans, Zaha & Balotelli > Aguero, Quinn, Wisdom/Duff
The 2 FTs give me a bit of flexibility i suppose but i'm half tempted to just dump Evans and roll my 2 frees over to next week. Which (if any!) of the above appeal?I like the look of C
Think you're fine just to just do A with Duff and save the other but C looks very good.
C with a cheap defender, keep the cash for Aguero?
You have a specific gameweek in mind for getting Aguero in? Because now looked as good a time as any to me tbh
Now is as good a time as any imo, just depends if you think it warrants the hit. D is awfully tempting and though it may not pay itself back this week it is a very solid long term move.
Zaha was a bit of a WC punt gone wrong so dumping him and banking the extra million or so should prove useful at some point. Really not sure what to do. Balotelli could well bit me in the ass if i dump him this week. That derby should have a few goals....
Perhaps just dumping Evans and keeping the 2 FTs is the way to goIf you're not 100% set on a transfer, usually best to save it.
Evans -> Duff or Shackell (if you fear Duff age etc) WC 2 weeks ago?
Nice team. How has your start been SD?Yeah mate WC been and gone, as always it seems by this point in the season!
Doing bang average at the moment and red arrow last week didn't help. 36k summat i thinkDecent. I reckon deal with Evans and roll the second one.
Yeah i reckon you're right
C but with Ulloa instead of Welbeck. That is my exact team minus Siggy for Rambo in the mid
Do Berty and Clyne start this weekend if they start in the League Cup game? I mean who else do they even have?
They will definitely start in the league IMO.
Don't think they'd start in the league but don't know who they'd play eitherThey play arsenal
That I didn't know.
They can handle two games in a week IMO.
Who else isn't getting ADM this week and why?
Me. Don't want to take a hit and ADM has been relatively fortunate with his points so far. ARS-TOT should be high scoring too.
I hope your right.
And I completely agree with regards to ADM. A free kick cross and two shots leading to a goal and two assists respectively! You're 😉
Getting falcao for rooney instead...he needed game against Leicester to shake off the cobwebs
I think falcao will do well but I'm keeping Rooney for now to be honest
probably me.
Can't squeeze him in and happy-ish with my 4 other mids. Rooney or Falcao for United coverYou have Ramsey? If he blanks, I might jump on the ADM wagon if he does have a good game against WHU
got Rambo yeah
Me, got other areas of my team i need to sort and ramsey will score similar to him in my opinion
I got him in last night. It's only non-owners quoting stats about this and that. From what I've seen he looks dangerous as hell.
We'll see I guess.
Me because I have other priorities and don't buy the 'essential' hype.
I'm not saying he won't do well and I may still squeeze him in on WC in a couple of weeks. Obviously he looks dangerous on the ball and will score more goals and assists from here but he is no Gareth bale and won't keep up anywhere near his honeymoon start, IMO of course. Lack of shots make him too risky to captain so other ways to splash the cash.
Ulloa or Welbeck for the next few?
Welbeck
Agree
Which looks best:
A) Rooney and Moreno
B)Aguerro and Alderweireld (cant afford Betrand)
C) Pelle and Baines
Thanks!C, but switch off Baines with Clyne/Bertrand
C with ivano if you can?
alderweireld isn't injured ?
Krul (Elliot)
Chambers Wilson Taylor Wisdom Hutton
Rambo Fabregas Sterling Siggy Boyd
Rooney Aguero Costa
2 free. nowt in the bank.
Any suggestions? Was thinking of doing Rooney + Wilson -> Falcao + Moore to set up for the next few weeks in case Rooney keeps playing in midfield...
Thoughts?Roo to Ulloa
ye do that but i would go duff over moore
I currently have De Gea and Begovic as my goal keepers. Both are taking up too much cash. Who should I get rid of first and replace with? I'm presuming De Gea
yes and a non playing back up to replace
Yep and Mannone
yup.
Anyone out there brave enough to not captain Costa while owning him ?
I'm considering Aguero.
The question is, is the armband gonna be on Aguero when the deadline hits
Mhm. I could imagine Villa completely shutting it down at Stamford Bridge and maybe even just playing for a 0-0 draw. They have the players to do so. But then again, those players could score against anyone.
I agree 100%, can't wait
Could capt hazard or fab instead
It would be a perfect week not to captain Costa and he blanks, it is really tempting me.
That was last week.
for me, it seems even better than last week. Coz captaincy will be on Costa about 45% to 60%, while last week was 22%. So should he blank again, you go up high in the ranks
welbeck can be a decent shot this week ..
A lot of captain options this week, Welbeck, Fabre, Pelle, Sanchez, Ramsey, Sterling, Aguero, Costa, Ivanovic, Di Maria, Rooney, Falcao. Wow
The last two GWs I have captained Di Maria and Sterling whilst having Costa and it's paid off to be fair. I missed Costas hattrick but had Di Maria score like 24, and then Sterling bagged me 20 this week whilst Costa only got 1 haha
Will you have the "cojones" to do it this week though ?
Most definitely not, armband has to be on Aguero surely
good luck
I captained Rooney instead this week so not too bad
Did the same here, but do not like the fact he is playing deep now, with LVG's pet and Falcao upfront.
Agree, LVG needs to dump RVP, play Rooney & Falcao up front and play Mata behind
aguero;)
It can pay off great, or he can pull his hamstring at minute 3 😉
I have him but am captaining Ivan, confident Vila won't score so fancy the punt
I have it on Ivan on UFPL
Pelle
Benteke closing in on an October 4th return against Man City...http://www.suttoncoldfieldobserver.co.uk/Benteke-return-close-reveals-Villa-manager/story-22962952-detail/story.html
Could be super differential..wat prrce is he atm??
7.9..bargain. This season is delivering up some great forwards picks in every price brkt...
Yup. One to monitor...
Really exciting times...Falcao Henner, Ulloa, Welbeck, Benteke, Pelle, Aguero...and on and on..Loads of picks..
Then you have Sterling, Fab, Ramsey, Walcott, Silva, Sanchez, Siggy, ADM, Herrera and Hazard vying for four spots in midfield.
Enner is really tempting me - looks to have everything about him 🙂
Are people transferring Liverpool defenders out? Sure they have got Everton next but a great run of games after that.
Currently have Moreno.I'm keeping Moreno.
Their defence is hopeless unfortunately. I'm shipping Moreno but then again I need to use one of my 2 FTs.
I'm loathed to hang onto him at the moment tbh but i probably will end up keeping
Keeping Moreno for the next couple of GW's then will consider switching to Baines after Everton play ManU
Exactly the same here.
Need to get rid of Chester, Bojan, Rio and possibly Mata.
Which looks best?
1) Chester, Bojan for Moore and Ulloa this week leaving 0.0 in bank.
Then GW7 possibly Mata > ADM and Rooney > Pelle as one is rotation/bench risk and the other playing deeper. This leaves me with 1.8 to upgrade Ferdinand & Wisdom. ... or after the shambles will 'Van the man' restore Mata to number 10 and play Rooney up front?
2) Alternatively do Mata > ADM, Rooney > Pelle and Bojan > Ulloa this week for 4 point hit, play Clyne (QPR) , Wisdom (BUR) and Taylor (sun) and have 1.3 to sort out defence next week
3) Just Mata > ADM, Rooney > Pelle?
ThanksAny thoughts of Ozil since he's in the hole now?
id wait and see - he may well be shifted back out to the flank against spurs
Shirley not
in the big games we will play 4-1-4-1 - ozil played in the middle only because wilshere and alexis were rested imo
You think? After his performance over the weekend? I know Sanchez was out, wouldn't he end up there…and Walcott down the road? I'm trying to separate myself with a player or too. I tried Zaha this weekend and that didn't pay off.
I wouldn't get him yet - especially being notoriously anonymous in big games...
wilshere and ramsey will play centrally...Fair enough…thanks for the input.
I think he'll be the man that I replace ADM with around GW9/GW10 mark, assuming he secures the #10 position properly...
What changes would you make to my team? I have 2 FT
Bego
Taylor Moreno PVA
Tadic Siggy Hazard Sterling
Pelle Costa Aguero
McCarthy Marney Moore Bertrandwoahh this team is so good as is ,maybe begovic to mannone bank the cash ? would defo play bertrand over naylor/pva as well this week....
oh wait never mind you have pva already hmmmm maybe naylor/pva to chambers
Current team:
Bego mccarthy
Ivan clyne moreno wisdom clyne
Adm fab sterling siggy zaha
Costa naismith balo
2 ft
Balo, naismith & zaha to ulloa, pelle and herrera ???
(-4). ????Might be worth considering Zaha -> Boyd and having him on the bench. Then Naismith -> Pelle for the other FT. Not sure if Balo -> Ulloa is worth the -4, maybe wait a week on that.
From the look of fixtures, Costa, Ulloa & Pelle will be in my team for at least 6+ weeks, fingers crossed they do well. Fixtures seem perfect for them to score even more.
Where did this diamond formation routine come from ?...Liverpool and United are just rubbish at the back playing it, It's an absolute dead duck of an idea to me. There's a reason why City and Chelsea play with two CDM's and a back four..BECAUSE IT WORKS..!!
aye - they have an imbalance in their squads between offensive and defensive talent, and have tailored their formations according, much like arsenal's 4-1-4-1 nonsense...
Just ridiculous at times. Mourinho must wet his pants when he sees teams lining up with all this nonsense...
Sometimes the players don't permit to play with two CDMs unfortunately for united and Liverpool.
United need some very radical thinking to sort out their problems...It's shocking..
No question about that
Out of topic. love your posts and tables. One of the reasons I bought membership this year 😉
In topic, Gerrard is not really a CDM to depend on him totally to defend, and Blind for me is a better attacking player than defending (being a Dutch national team fan)TBH..i think one CDM is so easily by passed that it's nearly pointless...
True, you do not want one of your defenders to be caught out of position just to cover you CDM
Find it hilarious myself, if Liverpool had 2 solid defensive minded players instead of just Gerrard trying to adjust himself to play infront of the back 4 by himself, they'd concede A LOT less.
Liverpool did it last season to fit in both Suarez and Sturridge up front (which a 4-2-3-1 doesnt allow you)
Obviously City played a 4-4-2 as well, their case is different to Chelsea.
United are trying to fit in all their attacking talent and its not working obviously. It can workLiverpool also conceded 50+ in the league, Suarez/Sturridge made them achieve 2nd last yr, if they chose to play the same system this season for Balo/Sturridge, they'll struggle to get inside top 4.
Yeah they did concede fifty plus because the formation was pants and their defence not the best..but tbh I think the United defenders are worse and playing with the same pants formation..
Agreed. I think some teams do this just to accommodate players, rather than picking a formation that works and filling the spots accordingly.
United are exactly this. Realistically you can't fit Falcao, Rooney and RVP (let alone Mata and Januzaj) into a 4-2-3-1.
De Gea
Rafael Smalling Rojo Shaw
Hererra Blind
Mata Rooney Falcao
RVP
Looks a lot more defensive but considering they're shipping goals by the bucket load you'd have to think it's a better tactic!Agrred...United simply do not have the quality at the back to play with two strikers...they just don't.
When City play the CB's and CDM's that a team has to play through are
Kompany Mangala
Yaya Fernandinho
United is
Smalling Evans
Blind
No prizes for guessing who will concede most goals by miles and miles...Worlds apart
So I have Aguero, Rooney and Naismith up front, and need to ditch one for Costa. 0.6 ITB, I'm leaning towards dropping Rooney and maybe doing Ramsey to Di Maria in midfield.
A) Rooney -> Costa, no United cover for a week, do the rest of B next week.
B) Rooney, Ramsey, Terry -> Costa, Di Maria, Bertrand (-4)
C) Rooney, Ramsey, Ward -> Costa, Di Maria, Duff (-4)
D) Aguero, Ramsey -> Costa, Di Maria
Agüero has Hull away, while Rooney has West Ham at home. Both will surely concede, but while Aguero is the main man, Roo is now moved deeper so i don't feel so bad about dropping him.
Terry obviously has a good fixture (AVL) so shipping him for Bertrand (QPR) is unlikely to be worth a hit, but is a way to afford it. Ward has LEI, while Duff has wba, so that doesnt make the hit, but again has to be done to afford it.A definitely.
D
A
B
A
Hendo+Ade to Sterling+Ulloa? I got 2 FT.
Good transfers
Yes. But I would get Fabregas/Hazard if you haven't already got both
I got Fab, alongside Ramsey and Siggy
Sounds good
Best Southampton midfielder? Money not really an issue. Tadic seems to be involved a lot without much end product
Schneiderlin
Really?
can you argue with his points and value?
Nope but I think tadic is the better player overall just not shown it in FPL terms.yet.
Schneiderlin for sure. Waiting to see Mane get a run...
I'd avoid right now.
keep Tadic next week he will play behind Pelle closer to the goal and he is deadly from that position Mane is going to take his role on the left wing!!!
Lucy (Saints supporter) is uncertain about Southampton's midfield prospects considering goals are coming from everywhere. The real value as far as I can see is getting Bertrand and/or Clyne in. I might hang fire and see what Mane is like. He will surely take up Long's position and comes with an impressive goal scoring record. Albeit in the Austrian league!
Noticable price changes tonight?
not sure yet...btw has anyone else noticed fiso seemed to have changed something with regards to risers - now there aren't 10 players above the threshold who don't rise - atm no-one is above 100%
?Hardly looked at the sites to be honest.
Yeah they've amended their algorithm. Several players that were over 100% earlier are now around 90%.
recommend two midfielders .Im shooting blanks
Di Maria Sterling ... essential
if sturridge gets back sterling wont perform well imo
totally disagree studge and sterling bring the best out of each other
@ Akbar Wakey
D.Silva or Yaya, only for this week ?Comparison tool made it clear, but I still think the other guy still has it in him
yaya is on the team risky but i think its his day
have the same feeling
I know you're not asking for public opinion but surely Silva. Yaya's role is different this year and is more defensive. Silva always looks dangerous!
your opinion is always welcomed
im having a tough time letting go off 20 goals and 9 assists
Southampton at home to QPR just seems too easy.
Am I overthinking things, or should I be looking to bring in Pelle?Bring him in
He looks wonderful at the moment.
Had a look at your linked team, looks great, maybe replace Henderson for Schneiderlin if you want Soton cover?
ADM ok as only Utd cover if on wildcard?
id say so
Yeah
Yup
how about gerrard under performing for a while now?what do you think
Really want to do Naismith to Welbeck but to fund it (for free) should I drop
a) Rvp to Rooney
b) Baines to Bertrand
c) Shaw to Moore
dont wanna drop any of them to be honest, really tough callThe answer is usually A 😉
Of those options, C by miles.
yeah you're right it just don't seem right dropping him given finally nailed on with Blackett suspended for west ham at home
definitely not a! c
Would you sell Rooney and Ramsey for a hit if you didn't have Fabregas?
Or Welbeck or Pelle
No
For who?
Fabregas and Pelle/Welbeck.
It would mean no United coverNo, then
Fresh off the WC and thinking of a hit, bru? 🙁
I don't think that is worth a hit, though.Yeah I'm leaning to the same conclusion
In looking at your squad, I would actually save your free and reassess next week. Can't see any individual transfer really screaming out and you could use the two to make a double switch if Ramsey has another dud or Chadli has another dud and gets subbed off early? Downgrading Rooney makes sense though, to free up funds to switch out Chadli or Ramsey or both.
I can afford to sell Rooney and Chadlii for Fabregas and Welbeck. Very tempting.
Yeah that is tempting haha. Would be very tidy business, just the -4 is a minor annoyance.
And the fact that I'd have double Arsenal attack with Spurs and Chelsea coming up. Not overly appealing.
NLD will have goals, I think that is actually a good fixture. The Chelsea one though, clearly not so much.
That would be the tricky one. Although all of my defenders would have a decent fixture so might be tempted to play 5 defenders that week and bench the Arsenal assets.
No
no
Thanks guys. Confirmed my thoughts.
