Newcastle United have this afternoon placed Joey Barton on the transfer list. Following the player’s criticism of the club on his twitter account yesterday, managing director Derek Llambias has met with owner Mike Ashley and the pair have subsequently moved quickly to address the matter. Barton is allowed to leave the club on a free transfer.

Barton was a proven Fantasy performer last season, with his set-piece delivery a key factor in the club’s successful season back in the Premier League. Despite his renowned reputation, Barton seems to have settled of late and his hint of unrest behind the scenes follow those of team mate Jose Enrique. With Kevin Nolan also leaving St James Park this summer, Alan Pardew looks set to lose another of his consistent performers. In terms of Newcastle set-piece takers, it’s worth noting that both Yohan Cabaye and Sylvain Marveaux have had their fair share already this pre-season and perhaps offers a pointer as to who Pardew will opt for in light of Barton’s departure.

At 28 years old, Barton still has plenty in his locker and Fantasy managers will be hoping for a mid-table move that guarantees starts. Priced at just 6.0 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Barton should still prove great value for money with his free-kicks and corners always reliable to garner points- he picked up 4 goals and 9 assists last season.

Barton had earlier in the day stated he will comment on the situation at Newcastle via his twitter stream at 4pm this afternoon….

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

right i think i may have sussed it lads. Wishful thinking :-/

    given(kenny)

    baines/kompany/cashley(o'shea,simpson)

    yaya/n'zog/taraabt/moses/(sinclair)

    rooney/zamora/rodallega

picked from a GW1-3 fixture difficulty persepective.

    Midfield looks a bit light?

simpson rotates with o'shea, kenny rotates well with given, and sinclair rotates spot on with taraabt? The worry is a light midfield but i'm sticking with this. I may regret it but its all about the risk versus reward in this game isnt it? Leap of faith here i come. 🙂

But does it really matter when Simpson and O'shea's team suck ass. And will never ever keep a clean one? If you're committed to five defenders that can play on decent teams your midfield only has to be 50% rotatable.

Sunderland kept 13 CS last season Manamongst, i.e over 1/3rd of games - one of the better ones 🙂

o'shea is sunderland's el capitan and they'll finish top 8 this season no danger. O'shea will bag a decent amount of points believe me. I take your point on simpson and he's the one i may change but other than that, after studying the stats and looking at the projections, i dont think this is far wrong. We'll see. Its all about risks and i'm a gambling man manamongst 😉

Hmmm. We'll see. I wouldnt say it was weak tbh. Taraabt is on qpr's set pieces and pens as is sinclair, yaya will be a monster point scorer this season based on the new BPs and n'zog will be the same. However, I may well change my mind another 10 times before aug 13th pal.

          Yeah don't mind them, Ill probably be playing five defenders GW1, and I have a decent midfield (Taarabt6.5, Anderson6.0, Sinclair6.0, Murphy6.0, Benayoun7.0).

I will probably play only 3 of my five MFers.

I'm a ST holder at united and Our whole midfield will be swapped and changed around throughout the season loads of times so that's why i've avoided any united coverage in my midfield. Liking the benayoun choice there. AVB has been playing him a lot pre season. May turn out to be a gem .May not tho. lol

How is N Dyer better than Victor Moses? He has no prem experience. Moses has. Moses has scored more goals than Dyer in his shorter career as well as international appearances for England at under 21 and 20 level under his beltand importantly two goals in the prem. Dyer has scored 10 times in 164 appearances in the championship and teams like Southampton. Dyer also faces a rotation threat from Routledge. Moses has no threat to his place this season with Nzog gone.

Didn't we have this conversation earlier today?

Dyer is a midfielder, Moses is a defender pretending to be a winger.

I'd have Dyer in my side for assists, and he's growing as a player. He's added shooting to his skill set last season. I would love someone to Buggu mark this!

Dyer will outplay Moses, by miles.

Moses had all of last season, and the season before that to prove himself. He's a sick note waiting to happen, and when he's actually playing, he's "meh" at best.

Wigan rarely score goals, and when they do, it's hard to believe that Moses will be that man, considering his dreadful PL history

We will resume this conversation gw 38 where I will be presenting you with Moses appearance, assist and goal stats and you can dazzle me with Nathan Dyer's stats.

                To everyone else reading this

Dyer is a rotation threat, who has scored four goals in 89 appearances for Swansea at Championhip level only over the last two years.

Moses has scored in the premiership and scored more in his shorter career. He is a risk but for 5m a far, far safer bet than N dyer.

Buggumark this...it will resume gk 38

What year are you living in? I can see it now, we can start placing bets (76th minute) when you will start absolutely BEGGING for a Chelsea player to be brought down in the box.

Don't do it Dave, you gotta give something up, if not Frank...he is big suckout candidate this season. He's dealing with diminished skills, and it appears AVB has moveed him back deeper.

I'm not surprised at all, because none of the players you listed knows what a good cross looks like either.

Actually, I don't think I ever seen VDV even ATTEMPT a cross before...Unless you're counting one of his shots on goal that might be mistaken for a cross.

VDV is a great crosser. But ok.. a few more players he had more assists then, and these players can cross, N'Zogbia, Pederson, Bale, Pennant. This myth that Walcott can't shoot or cross is getting old now.

He can physically do those things but it's his decision making that lets him down at times. Good FF player though, when fit.

His decision making has improved in my opinion. It's his dribbling which is still poor, he has all this pace but he never just knocks it past the player and runs onto it, a bit like Bale does. Hopefully that will come, he's still young.

A fair few, i can remember a great cross for RVP against blackpool, and one for RVP against Spurs. A lot of RVP goals came from Walcott crosses.

Ok, you're officially trippin. Walcott has the football IQ of a leaf. He's indecisive, he lacks consistent heart and passion. he rolls his ankle for than a basketball player, and at least they can wear ankle braces. Theo put together book end performances towards the early and later part of the season. Outside of those, he was absolutely infuriating.

Replied in the wrong place mate, I wouldn't go anywhere near the CB or RB positions at Chelsea, or the forwards for that matter.

Only Cech, Lampard, Terry and Cole are nailed on and only Lampard and Cole are of any FPL interest.

I'd be worried about all that Everton defence, and Briggs hasn't nailed down a spot. Like the attack obviously but that's because you've got Dyer and Ferguson, who won't score well but may be coming on regularly for Ivanovic or Briggs.

my point is, Cahill has QPR (away), Man City (home), Liverpool (away), Man Utd (home) Norwich (home) Arsenal (away) Chelsea (home) of that I see 1 clean sheet.

Collins has Fulham (away), Blackburn (home), Wolves (home), Everton (away), Newcastle (home) QPR (away) Wigan (home) of that I would guess 3 - 4 cleanies

4 really good reasons not to get Aguero.

    1) Mancini said after the win against Inter that Aguero will be benched for the CS game. So at most, You/Mancini will only get 30mins to look at him against (arguably) the strongest central defense in the country.
2)Balotelli and Dzeko were both on the scoresheet against Inter and played well. Silva had a cracking game too. Meaning more competition for Agueros place.
3)Tevez doesnt look like leaving anytime soon and Mancini sounds like he (understandably) still wants him around. Cant see SA dislodging City's best player and scorer of 1/3 of their goals last season without a fight.
4)Considering the above 11.0 is WAY too much money.

I don't take bets over the internet (payment/identity problems and such) but in theory I would definitely take on that bet.
With the qualification that Tevez doesnt leave I would say he definitely won't start 90% of the Prem games (remember they've got CL this season too which I'm sure he'll be used in)

      5) he is new to the league so we've got no idea how he'll settle in. could be straight off to a flier (think vermaelen, suarez) or might not take to it right away (think Dzeko). Gamble.

    How's this team?

    Given (Ruddy)

    Kompany Cole Alcaraz (Simpson, Orr)

    Silva, Sessegnon, Benayoun, Moses (Sinclair)

    RVP, Rooney, Zamora

Thinking about Alcaraz to Baines, Silva to Taarabt and RVP to Aguero (or someone else that price). Thoughts?

Keep RVP but try to upgrade Alcaraz I say.

Thinking yes you could maybe downgrade Rooney or RVP (dep on your preference) but I would leave Baines' inclusion (or downgrade Cole) and plough some funds into your MF. Silva is looking great leave him but upgrade one of Sess, Moses or Sinclair.
Is Benayoun a starter? If so congrats You've got a gem

Bolton at 11/2 to go down is very tempting. Holden out until October, Lee out for almost the whole season, no Sturridge or Elmander..

If Taylor is still there then they are safe.

They won't go down, QPR, Norwich and Swansea all still some way off in my opinion.
Could be 17th though, but I'd expect them to be above Wigan at the end.

You can get 14/1 for those 3 to be relegated

Norwich and Swansea are certs in my book, I reckon QPR will finish ahead of Bolton, even if neither are relegated.

If and when Modric moves to chelsea surly he will be a nailed on starter thus meaning malouda and benayoun will be a bigger rotation risk????

If Modric goes to Chelsea, the position most in danger is Benayoun, then Mikel/Ramires, then Lampard, Malouda is safe in his position.

That's definitely more IF than when though...

Besides, malouda and modric don't exactly play in the same position do they?

Would modric be a good pick instead of malouda then? Surly he will be a better player at chelsea

Nah, Benayoun will become (a bigger) rotation risk. Malouda has the left wing on locks.
