Newcastle United have this afternoon placed Joey Barton on the transfer list. Following the player’s criticism of the club on his twitter account yesterday, managing director Derek Llambias has met with owner Mike Ashley and the pair have subsequently moved quickly to address the matter. Barton is allowed to leave the club on a free transfer.

Barton was a proven Fantasy performer last season, with his set-piece delivery a key factor in the club’s successful season back in the Premier League. Despite his renowned reputation, Barton seems to have settled of late and his hint of unrest behind the scenes follow those of team mate Jose Enrique. With Kevin Nolan also leaving St James Park this summer, Alan Pardew looks set to lose another of his consistent performers. In terms of Newcastle set-piece takers, it’s worth noting that both Yohan Cabaye and Sylvain Marveaux have had their fair share already this pre-season and perhaps offers a pointer as to who Pardew will opt for in light of Barton’s departure.

At 28 years old, Barton still has plenty in his locker and Fantasy managers will be hoping for a mid-table move that guarantees starts. Priced at just 6.0 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Barton should still prove great value for money with his free-kicks and corners always reliable to garner points- he picked up 4 goals and 9 assists last season.

Barton had earlier in the day stated he will comment on the situation at Newcastle via his twitter stream at 4pm this afternoon….

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Has to be at least one... I imagine they are prohibited by their respective clubs for meddling in such distracting and time consuming affairs... not to mention the legal implications, if any...

Guys I need to save 1mil, in order to have the *Perfect* team! Its sublime genius!!!

Im looking at Ashley Cole, and thinking i could trim a mil if i cut him down to one of the others. Do any Chelsea fans have any idea what their backline is gonna be....at least for the first few weeks..

    ? ----- Terry ---- Ivanovic ---- Cole ?

    Take care all 🙂

    Hi Guys,

I would appreciate so pointers on my team.

    Given – (Ruddy)
    Looks good for rotation

A.Cole – I am torn between Cole and Baines but I need Chelsea coverage
Hughes – Good starter, will get some assists, for a good price
    Kompany – Obvious reasons
O’Shea and Simpson – O’Shea will Play and be captained, Simpson is cheap and will play –**Advice welcome**

    Moses - Punt
Taarabt – The next C.Adam…etc etc
    Silva – Class player
    N’Zogbia - Obvious reasons
Dyer – I think Dyer is a decent sub who will play and good for rotation

Rooney – Class, can rotate with RVP
Ageuro – A punt as he is untested. But I don’t think I can go far wrong with the team he has behind him.
Rodallega – not everyone favourite player, but he is the striker against the 3 promoted clubs, there has to be goals.

I have 1 million left in the bank to either swap Rodallega of Odem when his games are more favourable, or change Silva to VDV or another top midfielder.

    What do you think?

Is it crazy to have a Bolton player in my team? I have Martin Petrov in mine as a sub, because he's cheap (5.5) and seems certain to be a starter as he's the only out-and-out winger they have. He takes free-kicks and corners, and he seems to be in good form in the pre-season. On the other hand, people have been saying to steer clear of any Bolton players... thoughts/opinions anyone?

You've got a very strong front-line but, your defense is a bit on the weak side.

i know, ive been torn about being more balanced, changing my team all the time at work but, i figure kompany, simpson and gabbidon will be enough with what ive got upfront, and ive got 8 playing at home in gw1.

i wanted baines aswell but no way i can unless i downrade silva or lampard which isnt gonna happen.
can you think of any improvements i could make whilst still keepin:
rvp, rooney, suarez, silva and lampard?

Sorry I took this long to get back to you, went to the gym for a quick workout. Anyway, if you want to keep that killer strike force, I would suggest downgrading Lamps to someone like Taarabt or Sessegnon. I know you said he's one of the players you want to keep, but with Silva in your team already you've got some major point production there.

What do you think of my team:

      Hart, Al-Habsi
Simpson, Huth, Kompany, Hughes, A. Cole
Moses, Barton, Tiote, M. Petrov, Van der Vaart
      Rodallega, Holt, Suarez

7.5 in the bank for an overhaul, and I'm considering using some of that to upgrade Petrov to Silva or Adam Johnson.

Is anyone playing the SkySports Game?

Theres a few players that are real bargains on there,

on that site my team looks like:

    Hart
    G.Johnson, Rafael, Vermealen
    VDV, N’zogbia, Moses, Arteta, Adam
    rooney, Aguero

    with .3 in the bank

could use some criticism as i’m loving the look of it right now,

Not a big fan of Bent. Good team otherwise.

I don't think Sinclair and Moses are the answers in the MF you are looking for. Moses might pan out, but I wouldnt hold my breath on Sinclair.

No, it'll be Duff when he's fit. Riise will be be playing left back (or left wing-back if you prefer). I wouldn't be surprised if he popped up there occasionally, though.

you raise a good point about liverpool and penalties. Any Liverpool fans here know.

Kuyt usually takes them in Gerrard's absence. But Adam took one in the friendlies.

Suddenly Adam becomes a little more attractive if he is on pens while Saint Steven of Gerrard is away on groin business.

Ok guys poor season last year finished 84,000, was inside top 5,000 year before so fingers being pulled out!

What do you reckon to this lot? Have had Saurez, Hernandez and RVP in my head all summer but the injury to Hernandez has forced a reshuffle early doors for Rooney. Did have Rafael and De Gea to double on Utd clean sheets, may well go back to that if and when the Pea is fit and firing...In the end slotted in Roon and Taarabt and dispensed with Utd defence for now...

    Anyway:

    Al Habsi/Ruddy

Lescott/Kompany/Huth/(Wilkinson/Simpson) (all rotation proof and City top for clean sheets last year + cheaper than Hart/all Utd starters/all Chelsea definite starters ?

    Yaya/Bale/Moses/Taarabt/(Ferguson)

    RVP(C)/Saurez/Rooney(VC)/

Striker heavy I'm sure you'll agree but I think that's where the points are this year. May well swap Rooney for Hernandez and do something with Bale/Yaya depending on the opening results but it's a team of 100% starting players aside poss from Saurez and mostly all at home for first game?

    Thoughts?
