When Fantasy Premier League (FPL) opened its doors a couple of weeks ago, we weren’t far behind. Fantasy Football Scout got the ball rolling on our Head to Head leagues for the 2011/12 season by creating another two more and asked you all to stick your names in the hat for entry.

You kindly responded in your droves and after many man hours of wading through the entries, and a glamorous draw which took place on Saturday morning, we have had over 60 new leagues places to hand out to the lucky few recipients of our draw. The results (click to enlarge) and final figures on the nine Head to Head leagues (new entries highlighted) are as follows…

As you can see from the graphic above, there was at least one extra place in all of our leagues – be it from people dropping out or not claiming their spot in time. Firstly, if you see your name highlighted in that peach melba colour then you should have already received an email response to that which you entered with your respective league codes – if not, then whizz me over an email and I’ll sort things out for you.

Impressive Tackle and Back on the horse are the healthiest recipients who have jumped all the way up to FFS H2H 1 thanks to having the superior ranking of all our draw winners – Impressive Tackle finished a mind-bending 14th in the world last year.

Gooner Dave wasn’t far behind so takes up the single space left in FFS H2H 2. Four new managers get to take on Fantasy Football Scout head honcho Mark in FFS H2H 3 – Have they got what it takes to beat “The Scout”? I’m sure they’ll relish the challenge.

LawnDart jumps right into FFS H2H 4 on his own while FFS H2H 5 sees three new managers get to compete with Fantasy Football Scout super scribe Sir Paulos, podcast jockey Granville and differential destroyer (and my main rival) Big Dunc – without doubt the most Scout heavy Head to Head league.

Our Stateside Scout Da Beeeez is joined by three new faces in FFS H2H 6 with guiness416, Heisenberg and pompeyfan getting a jump up into our league structure.

FFS H2H 7 was our bottom league last season so sees a fair few new faces join its ranks thanks to a whole load of relegations – our comment-board regulars will perhaps recognise the likes of Johnny Unitas, Horizontal and RaspingDrive in amongst the qualifiers.

Scout business brain El Fozzie is heading up FFS H2H 8 (the first of two new leagues which has nineteen new faces) – Greeny was the best ranked manager of this bunch at a very respectable 17,284th place last season.

Certainly, 17,284th is more than I could have ever hoped for, which perhaps explains why I am heading up FFS H2H 9 – or what I am now dubbing “The Underachievers”. You will notice plenty of recognisable faces from long time caller Pasqualinho to King Nil Miss with a certain Westfield Irons inbetween. The Irons are the team managed by none other than Jon Reeson, winner of the whole 2009/10 FPL campaign and Marks’ Radio companion. Last season saw Jon struggle to keep up appearances following his banner year but is back ahead of the 2011/12 season and will undoubtedly have 19 Head to Head rivals eager for the victory scalp of an ex-FPL champion.

For those of you needing a reminder of how our promotion/relegation works then have a gander at the following graphic and work out just where you need to finish to survive and/or prosper.

This, of course, indicates that we know we need to cater for many more than just the 180 managers in our Head to Head leagues above. So without further ado we also christen the opening of the Fantasy Football Scout Reserve League (code: 759-148560).

If you were unfortunate enough to not have your name pulled out of the hat in the draw/got relegated/left it too late to claim your place then the Reserve League is open to anyone wanting to enter. Your league code (759-148560) should allow you the chance for 38 Fantasy Football Scout endorsed Head to Head fixtures and the shot at promotion into the aforementioned structure – just make sure your team finishes in the top 45 places and then keep your eyes peeled the following summer if you do.

Stick around for sporadic League updates through the season whenever we can squeeze them in, I’ll hopefully have a short graphic based one up in the early September international break and our first comprehensive movers and shakers report in the following October break.

Congratulations to our 60+ draw winners. Get joining our Reserve League if you’re not in on the action. I’m going for a stiff Ribena, am glad all that work is almost over until next summer. Good luck. Except to those in League Nine- I need all the help I can get in that one.

Don't fancy beattie, quite a lot spent on defence, evra and nani should not be considered atm, wilshere has an injury and suarez is doubtful. When you make a first week squad, one should have players who have an assured starting place

And thats why you need to downgrade some of you defenders, possibly Hangeland to Hughes, and replace Agger with someone cheaper. Then you get an obvious main three. Unless of course you intend to play 5,2,3

Awesome? Strikeforce is one of the weakest I've seen, plus you only have one realistic/big hitter Captain in Suarez. And yes I'm not including Nani as he's such a rotation risk this year with Young, Valencia and Giggs.

I try to ALWAYs have one transfer saved. If I use two in one week, I'd prefer to leave an injured bit-part player benched to get back up to two next time.

Otherwise, I chop and change on average one time, once a week.

I need help shaving .6m from this team.

    Given, Ruddy
Baines, Kompany, A. Cole, Bardsley, Simpson
    Taraabt, Sinclair, Moses, Malouda, Silva
    Zamora, Bent, Rooney

I think most of the defenders can sit there all season, swapping in Bardsley for a mid when he has good fixtures, and Simpson being bench material.

I think Taraabt and Sinclaire rotate well together early on, and hopefully will rise in price during their initial games.

Malouda and Silva are the strongest midfield picks I can think of for the opening fixtures.

Moses is cheap and should be good value.

Attack is expensive, but I can see Zamora doing really well, Rooney is on fire pre-season and is nailed on. Bent should be on set pieces, and is proven. I think it's his year.

Looking at the team above, Rooney > Holt gives me an extra .5m.

I'm kind of loath to get rid of Rooney, but that team is otherwise packed with players I'd really like.

And also, after last season (and the season before) I swore I'd get more promoted talent in during the first few weeks, and I suppose I'm holding myself to that now.

I've gone for Kenny as I think he's a better 2nd choice than Ruddy with Given.

Tempted by the Schwarzer alternative to Given but I doubt that I will want to go out on the limb with so many choosing the Villa keeper. Cost me a lot avoiding Foster last time round.

You don't need four a week, you need to have them sorted out for the first four weeks (so a City/Liverpool for 1, a Chelsea for 2 and 3 and an Arsenal for 4).

If you plan to get the captains in as you want them then you're one injury away from a points hit.

Hi guys, I'd love some advice for this team

    Given (Ruddy)
    Kompany, Baines, Luiz(Briggs, Simpson)
    Silva, O'Hara, Moses, Sessegnon (Walters)
    RVP, Rooney, Holt

I know that my midfield is a bit weak, but I will probably downgrade rooney for bent after gw1. should i downgrade my defense? cheers!

Yes in the interests of balance you should look to downgrade a DF for a better MF. Especially not keen on O'Hara or Walters. I know Walters is OOP but he probably wont play very often. Lots of good mid-price mids around this year to choose from

Looks very good IMO. Like how you have the creative architects in your midfield from the weaker sides (similar to what I've done!). Only concern would be a lack of big hitters/captain choices.

I like it. Maybe want to bolster the midfield a bit, but I am struggling to find value in midfielders this season.

Any one of the big mids this season has the potential to do naff all for a few weeks, or be rotated, which is a lot of money down the pan.

I'm thinking defence and forwards may be the way this season as there are more reliable options in those positions at the moment, until we get the first few weeks out the way.

Yeah thats why I have gone for four mid value and one high value. I agree. I think my midfield will either score highly or flop completely.

Filled it with set piece takers in the hope that a minimum of two will be involved in their teams goals each week.

As an exercise of interest I calculated what was the 'consensus' team by looking at number of picks, on that basis you get:

    Given/Al'Habsi
    Kompany/Hangeland/Cahill/Vidic/Huth
    N'Zogbia/Wilshere/Bale/Toure/VdV
    Suarez/Odemwingie/Rooney

That costs 110.5m, which is clearly not doable. So in order to 'shave' of 10.5m (considering we're being liberal with our use of the word shave).

So I looked at trying to make a very similar team (with reasons):

Hangeland -> Hughes (get same defensive coverage at the loss of some goal upside)
Cahill -> Simpson (because 5 expensive defenders is stupid, and so is picking Cahill)
Vidic -> Ferdinand (and when he gets crocked pick the starting RB for even less)
Bale -> Dyer (bench fodder and you have VdV anyway)
Odemwingie -> Holt (bench fodder that can rotate with Dyer)

Your team then comes out as:

    Given/Al'Habsi
    Kompany/Hughes/Ferdinand/Huth/Simpson
    N'Zogbia/Wilshere/Dyer/Toure/VdV
    Suarez/Holt/Rooney

Its not actually that bad a team (I wouldn't select Wilshere/Toure/Dyer - but they aren't horrible choices in the grand scheme of things)
