Christian Benteke could be set to return to the Villa squad to face City. Daniel Sturridge remains a doubt for Liverpool. The central midfield woes build for Burnley, Stoke have worries out wide for their trip to Sunderland, Hull are set to be without their number one keeper for the next month, whilst Nacho Monreal may be back for Arsenal.

Sean Dyche faces a problem in central midfield ahead of the trip to Leicester. The Burnley boss has confirmed that Dean Marney and David Jones are still unavailable, whilst Nathaniel Chalobah is also ruled out after sustaining a throat injury during a midweek reserve outing.

Christian Benteke looks set to return to the Villa squad for the first time in months. The Belgian turned out for the reserves in midweek as he steps up his recovery from an anterior ligament injury, though Paul Lambert has admitted Ron Vlaar is likely to miss out yet again as City roll up to Villa Park.

Steve Harper is set to start for Hull’s home encounter with Palace after Allan McGregor was ruled out for around four weeks with a shoulder injury.

Nacho Monreal has a chance of returning in time for Arsenal’s trip to Chelsea, Arsene Wenger confirmed earlier this morning.

Mame Biram Diouf is unavailable for Stoke this weekend after sustaining a hamstring injury in Monday’s win over Newcastle. Victor Moses is expected to shake off a minor thigh problem in time for the trip to Sunderland.

Wes Brown is available for the Black Cats once again after missing out with a calf complaint last weekend. Emmanuel Giaccherini remains a doubt for Gus Poyet’s side, though.

Brendan Rodgers has admitted he’ll have to “wait and see” over Daniel Sturridge’s fitness as Liverpool prepare to face West Brom. The Reds boss has confirmed the likes of Joe Allen, Emre Can, Jon Flanagan, Glen Johnson and Mamadou Sakho remain sidelined.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official twitter stream as breaking news unfolds.

I've got a few weeks off work for sick leave 🙂 I plan to do work at home but I fear this site is going to ruin my productivity 😆

So... who's doubling on the Saints attack?

Sorry misread your post, I'm tripling up on Saints defence not attack. Too many other attacking options. Should also be able to quickly upgrade Welbeck to Pelle if and when he breaks down.

I've lost a lot of respect for me as well.

It was rushed, I shouldn't have posted one. Didn't think it'd get nominated. I regretted the Burnley defence as soon as they were posted. I think I posted that on the boards...

Aguero returned, Pelle returned, Mane returned, Costa returned. It was Bertrand over Clyne that was the killer.

What is Roberto Martinez thinking? He starts a pretty full strength team in each of these stupid EL games. He's been in England long enough to know that the PL is far more important for the club than some second-tier European tournament that people can't even remember who won last year?

If this goes on, I expect them to continue to struggle.

Bizarre isn't it. I really don't know what he's thinking tbh. You'd think he would rethink playing a full strength team when he has Man Utd away this weekend

Yes, in Krasnodar, too! He should have left some players home, that's a 4+ hour flight...

I think the back four, which he has pretty much given no rest to, will suffer the most...

There is a long way from first couple of group games to winning it. Hardly needs first team to get out of group also

Yep and that is why Baines is a bad choice. Will not keep enough clean sheets for his price tag.

Fantastic going forward but better to pay the little extra for Ivanovic or Azpil

They're not exactly gonna get relegated if they put out a decent side in europe occasionally. Best case top 6 worst case mid table but if they finished mid table and won europa they'd be laughing and the fans would be delighted. They don't have a huge squad in fairness to him and fringe players like Hibbert and Gibson did feature

Yeah. There's no way there finishing top 4. Realistically they're fighting for a Europa League place in the league. And seeing as they are already in it they can now try to win it and get in the UCL.

Getting out of the group stages isn't a given. By the looks of it he's playing a strong team to try and qualify early, then he can rotate.

I happen to like his attitude though, nice to see someone placing priority on a chance of trophy rather than fourth spot in the league. Fans remember silverware wins a lot longer than qualifying for champ league and getting beaten eventually

not sure if you are entirely serious as it sounds like trolling..

Every other country in Europe respects the EL as an important competition and something to win.

I think its unlikely that Everton will win the league so why not try to win this? In any case doing well in this competition will give them a better club coefficient if they get into the CL meaning a higher seeding and a better group (hopefully but not always!). Points in EL are worth the same as in CL.

If all English clubs didn't take it seriously, and with them not doing as well in the CL it's possible that England might lose their 4th CL place too...

Thoughts on who to replace Ramsey for a -4 hit?

          Foster, Krul
          Clyne, Naylor, Hutton, Wilson, Manquillo
          Siggy, Albrighton, Lamela, Sterling, _____
          Pelle, Aguero, Lukaku

Looking at Tadic, Mata, Silva, Hazard, Fab, Ozil, YYT, Sanchez, god there's loads to choose from but nothing that stands out.

¸The guy is a midfield goal machine, one of the best players in the league definetly, his skills are incredible and has an incredible work rate. The only reason he wasn't playing is because he's needed at CL & cup games. And with Arsenal having a lot of good wingers, he's being rotated in the League sometimes, since none of them is such a donwgrade from him.

I dont disagree about his quality, but his minutes in the league have been poor and CL rotation is unlikely to change. Walcott coming back will add more problems to rotation too. He's only completed 90 mins 3 times and the other 3 games have been 45 mins or below. Seems risky to me. His restricted minutes have put him outside the top 20 scoring midfielders.

4 goals in last 5 games (I think)

Arsenal's lovely fixtures after this week.

The sparkle that comes with all new marquee additions to the Premier League has yet to wear off.

People wanting to be there first when a bandwagon begins.

Lovely fixtures and form indeed but his minutes in the league have been poor, 3 x 90 mins and 3 x 45 mins or below. Is this likely to change? CL rotation will still be happening and Walcott coming back too. Seems a risky move to me...

Arsenal are hardly tight at the back and Costa has been more clinical than Aguero this season.

see above. It's a close call but Arsenal have only kept 1 clean sheet and they are up against arguably the best team in the league. I don't think it's a hard a fixture as people are making out, Chelsea could easily pop a few past them.

Villa have defended well and could cause ManCity problems. No Vlaar though is making me considering change my mind to Aguero. I can't see them scoring more than 3 though, so I might just back Costa in the home fixture.

Fletcher is the likely one to come in for Herrera

Siggy captain...swore I would play sensibly this year but Newcastle are terrible so will take a punt

Yes, did this a couple of weeks ago and captained Ivanovic for his single point. Costa rained in the points.

I'm thinking the same, I'm just afraid Pardew will put everyone behind the ball to avoid defeat 😕

true. I have Ulloa and I'm thinking of captaining him as well.
Whatever you do you need to drop Rooney so that cuts 3 and 4 out for now.

1, but would also consider Pelle. If you're WC, then just go for Ulloa. Burnley without their mids look vulnerable

Rooney to Sakho. He's a proper goalscorer and is playing QPR this GW...and you can wildcard anyway.

            Forster (McCarthy)

Clyne / Naylor / Shawcross (Moore / Wisdom)

Lamela / Siggy / Sterling / Fabregas (Zaha)

            Costa / Aguero / Naismith

            0.8 ITB and 1 FT.

            Things I'm thinking...
            - Zaha to Downing and playing him over Lamela this GW.
            - Naismith needs to go but I'd rather wait for Pelle and Welbeck.
            - Lamela needs to go but there are no standout midfielders to trade him to just yet.

            What do people think???

Any news about Chester? If he starts it will be handy although it seems unlikely unless 3-5-2

I'm keeping for this week, Bruce could switch back to 352 considering how bad they've been defensively the last few games

What are the main concerns with Aguero then? Long international travel before TOT meaning he may not start?

Pick 2 to bench (for a different game):

              A) Chadli (SOT)
              B) Drinkwater (BUR)
              C) Hazard (ARS)
              D) Henderson (WBA)
              E) Mane (tot)
              F) Siggy (NEW)

              Thanks!

              UFPL

Does it make sense to take Rooney out for 4 games for 10pts instead of 3 games for 9 and bring him back for Palace at home rather than City away. Gives whoever I bring in 4 games to score 1 goal to make it profitable
