Our Saturday morning regular arrives once again as we roll out a trio of overlooked alternatives for your perusal. We turn to West Ham and Leicester’s front men ahead of home clashes with promoted pair QPR and Burnley, whilst Palace’s in-form wide man also comes into consideration as the Eagles head to Hull.

DIAFRA SAKHO

The Hammers forward has hit a real purple patch during his start to life at Upton Park. With Sam Allardyce’s onus on attack this term, Sakho has been quick to benefit and has scored in each of his last four starts across all competitions, with his performance against United last weekend earning him top spot for Threat in our ICT rankings for Gameweek 6.

West Ham face a QPR side this Sunday who have shipped eight goals in their last three fixtures, with Sakho looking the most likely to find the holes in the R’s leaky defence. Despite all this, the former Metz forward’s ownership in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) still resides under 1%, a remarkable figure considering his current form. With Allardyce’s men aiming to build on their previous home victory over Liverpool, and with Stewart Downing still pulling the strings in the middle of the park, Sakho’s goal spree could be set to continue tomorrow afternoon. Bearind in mind The Hammers also square up to Burnley, Stoke and Villa in the following four, the 5.5-priced forward has the platform to deliver further.

JASON PUNCHEON

It’s been a steady outlay from the Crystal Palace winger so far, with three assists and a goal ensuring that he has only blanked in one of five appearances. However, despite this reliability of returns, Puncheon sits in only 3.5% of teams in FPL. Having faced a price drop after his Gameweek 1 red card, he is currently available for just 5.9 and comes up against a Hull side who have conceded ten goals in their last four fixtures and have just lost their first choice keeper Allan McGregor to injury.

Puncheon’s displays towards the end of last season ensured that the midfielder was present in a fair number of managers’ pre-season sides this time round, but his opening weekend dismissal and subsequent one-match suspension naturally saw his ownership diminish. The winger has certainly redeemed himself since then, however, as his underlying stats reveal – 12 chances created is equal with the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Dusan Tadic, whilst four shots on target is the joint highest total for any Palace player. Neil Warnock’s men face Hull, West Brom and Sunderland in their next four – all fixtures which could offer Puncheon the opportunity to press home his credentials as one of the best mid-price midfield options around.

JAMIE VARDY

Whilst Leonardo Ulloa has been drafted in by another 136,000 managers this week, Leicester City teammate Vardy has acquired just over 11,000 new owners and currently resides in a mere 1.8% of FPL teams. The former Conference star is available for 5.0, which is 0.9 less than Ulloa, and having started the last two for Nigel Pearson’s outfit, looks set to continue on the left of a front three when The Foxes welcome Burnley later this afternoon.

Vardy’s pace and drive came to fruition in Gameweek 5 as the forward left Man United’s backline in shreds on his way to a 21-point haul. Whilst there is fear his starting berth may suffer after last week’s 2-0 loss to Palace, Vardy’s threat in that match shouldn’t go unnoticed – six touches and two attempts in the opposition penalty box was far superior to Ulloa’s threat in the area. Burnley shipped four goals in their last fixture, and should Vardy carry on that form he has the opportunity to cement his spot as a viable, and more budget friendly, alternative to Ulloa as Leicester embark on an enticing set of fixtures (BUR, new, swa, WBA, sou, SUN).

I'm going with Aguero. If you're going to splash the cash on him, you have to be prepared to give him the armband for this type of fixture.

Aguero for me. I got burned by not (C) Costa when he scored 17 but this week I need to make inroads within my ML (26 pts behind top place getter). If Aguero explodes I will be a happy man - but then again Costa may burn me.

p.s. I think Aguero is a bold move as (C). But as they say "he who dares, wins".

      I still don't know.
Costa is a beast who will just keep mopping up those opportunities that Chelsea create. If he scores double figures then that''s 1.5 million people with him as captain very happy

I was just about to ask something similar. I've had it on Aguero all week but rethinking now. I want to do Aguero, but I know for sure Costa will score at least a goal I think.

And you can also look at it like having Aguero is enough of a differential. If you captain Costa and he fails and Aguero does well, we will still move up the rankings. If the reverse happens and we captain Aguero, we get screwed.

With that said, I'm probably gonna go with Aguero but just because I like being dramatic

I hate the fact that Aguero plays first (my (C)). If he fails I'll be bricking it until Costa plays the next day! I'm in Australia so the games are over night.

Last minute check needed fellas! Won't have much time before the deadline to finalize things. Feels awfully wrong benching Welbeck after his midweek heroics but can't justify benching anyone else. Good to go?

    Foster
    Naylor - PVA - Clyne
    Fabregas - Sterling (vc) - Di Maria (C) - Siggy - Downing
    Costa - Pellé

    Krul - Welbeck - Bertrand - Pieters

i'd probably play welbeck over downing, but could go either way. This kind of dilema highlights the benefits of having a becnh fodder midfielder such as Boyd,

I brought in Downing for this fixture to be honest so have to play him. Downing will become my bench fodder. Don't mind spending the extra million to have a solid first sub though that may mean benching some points

I feel that the difference between captaining Costa and not captaining him this week could be 6-12 and if Ulloa does go mental, having him at captain as a nice differential could be Costa 6 Ulloa 30 (in a dream)...

            V

Say Costa 12 at captain and Pelle 2 Welbeck 2/5. Dzeko 5

Or just a repeat of last week with Kun Pelle Costa 6 6 6 or 6 12 6

              But 6 30 6

              Who knows

            2. Jafalad
              • 15 Years
              11 years, 3 months ago

              Definitely.

I have allowed for one goal from Costa so:

              4 + 2 + 2 = 8 ( x 2 = 16)

Ulloa, 2 goals, one assist, 3 bps:

              8 + 3 + 3 = 14 ( x 2 = 28)

              As I have Costa it works out: 28 - 8 = 20 pts 🙂

Get on the Lampard bus before it's too late!!

    http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/my-stats-tables/view/6159/

Have a look at that. Ignore the title, it's a table for the past 3 GWs. Check out number 6 on the list.

All the GWs Lampard has been involved in. Lamps has only played a total of 77 minutes in those 3 GWs. So 77/180, compared to the rest on the table who've played the full amount. 1/3rd of the time to do the damage and he compares very very well with the rest. It's pretty amazing. Check em out. Cmmnd/Ctrl Find Lampard then sort by each column. In particular, Chances from open play, Shots in the box, and Big Chances.

    Lampard - 0.047 SiB/minute ---- 14.2 minutes per chance ---- 42.5 mins per goal

      Siggy to Lampard
Ulloa to ......dare I say it......Welwank

      Next week seems feasible.

      Him or Pelle.

      Lampard though. Just feels wrong

    Which option should I take?

    A) Play Duff (vs Leicester away)
    B) Take a -4 and bring in a Man city defender (Villa away)
    C) Play Clyne (Spurs away)

Only reason why Im not sure on C is that I already have two Soton players on field...

    Cheers guys!!

I have the same dilemma but I'm going Bertrand. 3 reasons:

      1. Southampton and Bertrand are both in great form. Always a key factor.
      2. Spurs seem to struggle after playing their Thursday night European games
      3. Leicester have not kept a clean sheet at home yet (conceding six goals, albeit the opposition was Everton, Arsenal and Man United)

I have a feeling Burnley will break their scoring duck today against a Leicester team who like to attack and do leave themselves open at times.
