Our weekly analysis of the Captaincy contenders is rolled out once again this afternoon. As always, we take a three-part approach which includes the weekly poll standings, the Opta statistics and our Rate My Team projections to help steer your thoughts on the armband conundrum.

The Captain Poll

Yet again, the consistent Diego Costa leads the way in this week’s Captain Poll. The Chelsea forward has scored in all but one of his seven league appearances, with only champions Man City stopping him so far – although Palace have yet to concede at home under Neil Warnock, over 37% have placed their faith in the Spain international.

Sergio Aguero is some way back in second, with 19% opting for the City frontman. Aguero’s strike away to Villa means he’s now notched in five of his seven appearances and, perhaps crucially, he’s earned bonus points every time he has scored – Costa has achieved this on only three occasions. Visitors Spurs have a single clean sheet in five, and with Hugo Lloris a doubt, face a tough task to keep the champions at bay.

Danny Welbeck takes third spot as Arsenal prepare to entertain Hull at the Emirates. The summer signing has racked up four goals and an assist in just six appearances across all competitions for the Gunners and is expected to shrug off an ankle knock to start against a Tigers backline that has managed a single clean sheet in six. Team-mate Alexis Sanchez is also on the radar, though has been selected by just 2% of voters compared to Welbeck’s 12% show of support.

Man United pair Angel Di Maria (9%) and Radamel Falcao (2%) are in armband contention as they roll up to West Brom on Monday evening. A goal and assist in three of his last four appearances ensure the Argentine is the Red Devils’ most popular pick but Falcao has still managed to produce returns in each of his last three and looks a real differential here.

Graziano Pelle has scored and earned maximum bonus in each of his last two home appearances yet ahead of a St Mary’s meet with Sunderland has been selected by 3% of voters. Further down the pecking order, Liverpool duo Raheem Sterling and Daniel Sturridge (providing he’s fit) seem overlooked options for a trip to basement-dwellers QPR, though Harry Redknapp’s side have only conceded three times in as many home matches and will be hoping to derail the Reds at Loftus Road.

Pelle should fare well over the next 6 but PvA has a torrid run.

These little things can easily be forgotten about in a state of panic. If I'm ever stuck on something I try to google the answer, usually can find something on the net relating to what you want to know if all else fails.

    Think carefully about this...

How do you play Fantasy Football? are you:

A- Reactive (Template, Bandwagon, chase Last Week's Points and hope etc)

    Or

B- Proactive (who's going to score big over the next 3-4 gameweeks, differentials etc)

C- A balance of the two

    Thoughts?

Just been having a go on some Liverpool fan forums and seeing a lot of chatter about resting Sterling for the QPR game in order for him to be fully ready to go against Real for UCL. I guess we will have bib theory for them tomorrow which has seemed to be fairly reliable for LFC, but with their pileup right now it seems like if Sterling doesn't start one of their next four games it may be worth getting rid for someone who we know will not be rested for the PL?

Yeah. I fear that he will be rested for the easier games, though, and missing possible big hauls in them, and BR playing him for the harder games. Not ideal for us if this is the case.

He will. I can't see him playing 90 that much either- loads of 62, 68, 72 min 3 point appearances.
(Chadli at spurs will be the same).

What did he do last season? Exactly that.

It's only coz he's had a few good games that he's flavour of the month.

I'd love to take Pixie Lott out for some seafood dinner and never call her again.

Hows this wildcard draft looking lads? Have 1.7 spare

    Krul Foster
    Baines Kaboul Clyne Moore Duff
Di Maria Tadic Siggurdson Henderson Boyd
    Costa Aguero Welbeck

Have good captain options in Costa, Aguero and Di Maria and nice enough balance I think. Could change Henderson and Boyd to a rotating pair of mid price mids maybe?

    Thanks

I wouldn't go with Krul on a WC given Newcastle's form. Nice team otherwise

Well, Who to Start this gameweek - Hutton, Moore or van Aarnolt?

Need to pick one to go with:

    Foster

    Baines, Ivanovic.......

    Di Maria, Fabregas, Sigurdsson, Tadic

    Costa, Falcao, Cisse

I have Moore and PVA, I'm going with Moore, but think chances of a clean sheet are slim for both.

    Bego
    Baines Moreno N.Taylor (Moore Pieters)
    Tadic Fabregas Sterling ADM (Boyd)
    Costa Pelle Welbz

    2 FT's thinking of:

    Moreno --> Mertesacker
    Pieters --> Tomkins

    Does this make sense?

2 FT and no pressing issues, worth getting Bellerin in for weekend?

Plenty of other defenders will get 1 or 2 points, at least pick one who is nailed.
