Carlos Tevez takes a break. Cesc Fabregas is fit and may feature in Arsenal’s weekend friendly. Steve Kean finally signs a striker, though may see his skipper depart for North London. Alan Pardew is determined to freeze out Joey Barton and Joe Cole’s name blinks on the QPR radar. Here’s this morning’s Scribbles, folks:

The Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona saga drags on this morning. The midfielder has now recovered from his hamstring injury and for the past two days has trained with the Arsenal first-team ahead of Saturday evening’s friendly against Sporting Lisbon. The Gunners are reportedly preparing two first-team photographs ahead of next season- one with their skipper and one without. Fabregas is even willing to take a pay cut to ensure the move goes through but the stumbling block remains a £5m difference in each club’s valuation of the player.

Carlos Tevez is the other big name in the news this morning. City have reportedly extended their skipper’s vacation, allowing him to miss Sunday’s Community Shield clash with United. Tevez’s future remains in the balance, then, and, despite his obvious appeal in Fantasy terms, the City striker will have been crossed off many a pre-season watchlist. He now seems unlikely to begin the season in the City starting line-up when Swansea turn up at Eastlands next weekend

Chris Samba’s Blackburn future is again in doubt as the latest reports suggest Spurs have moved to the front of the queue for his services. A £6 million fee is reportedly on the table as Harry Redknapp looks to bolster his backline. Presumably the Spurs boss has Samba lined up to partner skipper Michael Dawson, with Ledley King’s knee still preventing him from making regular Premier League appearances. Should Samba arrive at White Hart Lane, it’s safe to say that Fantasy managers may look more favourably both on Samba and the Spurs back four.

Blackburn fans can at least take some consolation that their club made their first move in the transfer market yesterday, completing a deal for Dundee United striker David Goodwillie . He is set to make his debut at Kilmarnock this weekend – a full Scout Report on the Scottish starlet will follow later today.

Norwich’s Ritchie De Laet has wasted little in settling into his new surroundings, following his loan move from Man United. The defender grabbed a goal and picked up the Man of the Match award in the Canaries 1-1 draw with Real Zaragoza. At just 4.0 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) he’s one to definitely consider, for those Fantasy managers undecided over low-price defenders.

While Joey Barton has hinted at seeing out the final year of his contract on Tyneside, Alan Pardew has other ideas. The Newcastle boss is reportedly determined to ensure the midfielder offers no further disruption to first-team matters by forcing him to train alone until his departure. Jose Enrique has closed his twitter account amid reports the club are on the verge of banning all players from using the social media site.

Liverpool’s forgotten man Joe Cole has been offered the chance of a season-long loan deal by QPR. Cole is clearly out of the picture at Anfield and, providing Neil Warnock’s side can afford his wages, would certainly get plenty chances at Loftus Road. With a 6.0 price tag, he’s a budget-friendly FPL option, though many Fantasy managers will steer clear until the situation becomes a little clearer.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

I'm not a Swans fan B&B (kind of my second team, so this may not be quite accurate), but as I'm from not too far away I like to try and keep an eye on what's going on. A little anyway.

Routledge has been signed, and I think he may be the highest paid player at the club now, so he's not going to be sitting on the bench. Sinclair is going to play week in week out so unless one of Sinclair, Routledge or Dyer plays through the middle then it's probably unlikely that Dyer will be first choice. Player of the year last season though, so it's a bit unclear, really. I'd hold off until we see what's going to happen, try and find some extra £'s to upgrade him I think.

No problemo. Doubt he'd have got too many goals or assists, really, but he'd have been a nice £4.5M with guaranteed starts and pop up with the odd few points here and there. More likely an impact sub now, but as I said, bit unclear.

Yeah, he was very good, but Routledge has been signed for a reason. I could be very wrong obviously, but there's enough doubt about Dyer's spot for us to think twice about him.

My guess is that none of Sinclair, Dyer or Routledge will be guaranteed 90. Two will start and the guy on the bench will replace one or other as the game goes on- Sinclair being most likely to see 90, I imagine.

The only way I could think of is that if two were out wide, and one played more centrally, but that's a bit iffy imo. Can't see where all three will fit in otherwise.

Ok - so I am considering the following

    Suarez/enrique and a 4.5m midlfielder in.

I already have Ephraim. Is there anyone who makes this switch worthwhile?

I suppose you could level the defensive thing at Swansea more. I agree with the Tarrabt point though. It's difficult to predict which one of the three will do well if any. I personally think Norwich will be terrible because they can't defend and i think Swansea will go down because they won't score enough goals. Alot will rest on Graham's shoulders

I had both in my first draft, now I have neither. To my mind 12.5 mil is quite a lot to spend on unproven rotating players, I'd rather get an established player I can play for the first 3 or 4 weeks without rotation and stick a cheapie on my bench.

    Given/Ruddy
    Luiz Kompany Enrique Bramble Simpson
    Lampard Sessegnon N'Zogbia Taarabt Moses
    Rooney/RVP Drogs Graham

Enrique only if he goes to Pool. And I'm not downgrading Lampard as he's the only nailed on Chelsea mid and I think he will still do well even if he's playing deeper as he does still tend to get forward, assists etc...

My team I've gone for is

    Given
    Cole/Kompany/Baines
    Sinclar/Moses/N Zogbia/Sessegnon
    Rooney/Van Persie/Zamora

Bench: De Vries, Enrique, B.Johnson, Wilkonson

So a good goalkeeper, a solid but attacking defense, a risky midfield full of players who may do really well or not do anything (but I'm hoping they all rise in price :P) and then an aggressive strikeforce full of strikers who are sure to light the premiership on fire! (ok maybe not Zamora :P)

I then have Johnson on the bench who can come in for Norwichs home games for somebody like Moses or Sinclar + Enrique who can come off the bench for Moses/Sinclar when Liverpool have easy home fixtures (if he goes to Liverpool)...like the opening game against Sunderland.

    Only problems I see is

    1) Risky midfield but really, apart from Malouda and maybe Silva theres nobody else I want.
    2) Johnson is a slight risk - was considering doing Zamora -> Holt and Johnson -> 6 million midfielder...but theres nobody really :/

You could maybe get away with Suarez instead of Carroll. If you're happy with your team, then playing a sub instead of Suarez for the first week might be a price worth paying. Or put a different striker in for GW1 and then transfer Suarez in when he's fit.

Questions 😕 (lost on last post)

    A. What’s with the Moses love on this site? Surely Watson takes pens/free kicks for instance?

    B. Surely, Holt/Graham are the potential SEB for next season?

    C. How much is Watson (software at work means I cannot access fpl site)

My team (for anyone interested in making comments) 😉
    Given (Ruddy)
    Kompany, Clichy, Hughes (Alcaraz) (Simpson)
    Silva, N’Zogbia, Taarabt Sinclair/Watson (Ferguson)
    RVP, Carroll, Bent

A: he seems to be a regular, and has scored a lot of goal in pre season from open play. So he does not need pen/free kicks to produce goals. And he is cheap, so he is my budget alternative.

B: Once again, I need a budget alternative since I've gone with to expensive forwards. Getting a cheap, regular forward for an attacking team who takes penalties is a no-brainer for me.

C: He is 5.5. I had him last year when he was 4.0 and then he was a bargain, but they didn't get to many penalties, and his corners seldom turned into goals, so it was only his bonuspoints that made me keep him. And that he was a regular. But this year I don't see him as a bargain, since he is 5.5....

Finding it hard to decide the best 4.0 defender. I have four decent back so he will not play often but obviously would like a good value pick.

Some of the popular options are:

Simpson, not too interested. Good JS but not too keen on getting an avg of 1.5 ppg with 0 CS.

Orr, not too sure about him, very popular but coming from a promoted team.

De Laet, should come into reckoning. Loanee from man U and shown in this article can get unfield and get involved with scoring. Norwich has as much chance of a clean sheet as david hale has of getting his title back off klitschko.

Briggs, is the roughie but has had a great pre season. Jol seems to like him. He could play on the wing or get games if riise is used sparingly or for Europe.

Who are you guys going? Currently I'm sitting on Briggs as I love a punt but change five or six thousand time a day.

Chelsea have just signed a midfielder, Oriol Romeu Vidal, from Barcelona. He's away with the U20s at the moment, but reckon he'll come in with intention to first team?

as discussed in earlier posts, he's mostly a stop gap for essien in case the moric deal dsnt work and barca have a buy back option in 2 years so chelsea want him to come good but not excellent.

I know - but why would a club want to agree to that? I heard that in the Bojan contract with Roma there's a buy back option in 2013, in which they pay 1mil more than Roma paid for him, but if they don't want him back (so he's shit) Roma have to pay even more ontop of the initial fee - it seems a bit bullshit to me

Hmmmm...I think he's there to push Mikel. He seems great for a youngster...strong, tricky and very good on the ball. When he settles you can bet we'll play a lot faster from the back. I'd imagine he'll have a "Ramires" type season...slow to adapt but brilliant at the end. It's what I'm guessing.

I disagree, it's based on the principle that each player has played under the exact same circumstances for the past 3 seasons.

With Baines currently on penalties and set pieces, I think he could retain them even with Arteta back. Over a full season that would be very favourable.

    My most annoying posing questions:

    1. Man City strike force. They will run riot v swansea but balo, tev or aguero!!!!!?

    2. Chelsea Defense. I think you need one for first 6 games. Terry and cole nailed on, but expensive, luiz and bosinga decent options but will they start!!?

    3. Chelsea Midfield. I currently have lampard but would defo downgrade to malouda or even yossi to save £££.

    4. I'd love baines again, first 4 fixtures bar spurs look decent but again the ££££

    5. Suarez will he start!!!!

Other than that, Im really sorted!!!!

I think Chelsea will start Ivan at CB for a game or two so that Luiz can adapt to the new play and then he'll come in with Ivan moving to RB. Lampard or Malouda...Flo being cheaper does help. Leave Yossi for now...

I think he'll be sold to be honest. Pity cause he is good but hey...I expect lotsa rotation in that area to be honest but rumours suggest Alex to go and another back-up to come through...which will put him behind everyone naturally..

      1. I'm (probably) going for Silva and Balotelli with enough cash in the bank to swap Balotelli for Torres/Drogba GW2.

Tevez isn't back in training until Monday, has had no pre-season whatsoever so I can't see any way he'll be anything other that a sub. Mancini said after the Inter friendly that Aguero will only be on the bench for the Community Shield, and again he's had no pre-season so he's unlikely to start the Swansea game, imo. That leaves Dzeko or Balotelli, and I'd much rather Balo, who should also be on penalties, at a guess.

      2. I've got for Cole. You pay extra for the security of starts, and AVB apparently likes his full-backs to bomb on forward.

      3. None for me, see 1 for Chelsea cover.

      4. Kompany and Cole are my two expensive defenders, I'd love to have Baines for GW's 2-5, but I find it ruins the rest of my team too much.

      5. No bloody idea!

So realistically when does the Enrique/Modric/Fabregas/Tevez saga need to be concluded by to include people in your team?
Obviously with Enrique and Modric it's a case of getting the move in time so what sort of date would they need to move before the first FPL deadline would they need?
With Fabregas and Tevez is dependent on whether to start with Aguero, fortunately Arsenal give us 4 weeks to see if Ramsey is a good shout or not.

I don't much like transfers near to season start time. It gives the players very little time to settle in and get used to their new squad and style of play/speed of team-mates etc. The players I will have in my team for GW1 are already at their club.

I'm sort of settled in defence, have no £ left so would have to take out a defensive "big gun" or rejig somewhere else. If I hadn't got to that stage Enrique could well be an exception to the rule.
