Robin Van Persie is at the centre of another injury scare on the eve of the season after suffering an ankle knock against Benfica on Saturday.

The Dutchman was forced off the field in the first-half of the 2-1 defeat having given the Gunners the lead with a clinical finish from Kieran Gibbs’ cut-back.

Following the goal, Van Persie suffered a knock on the ankle following a clumsy challenge – the striker played on but was withdrawn at half-time with Marouane Chamakh seeing action.

The extent of Van Persie’s problem remains unclear, Wenger gave us this vague summary in his post-match comments…

“It is an ankle problem, I don’t know how bad it is.”

We will presumably learn more on the “problem” over the next few days and Fantasy managers will be hoping for some clarity from the Arsenal camp prior to Saturday’s squad selection deadline.

Arsenal also suffered further setbacks on the day with both Gibbs and Thomas Vermaelen suffering thigh and back injuries respectively.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Malouda place could be under threat by various options...

Bunnyun, Anelka, even sturridge after the ban

Not sure about Anelka - I get the impression that age is starting to catch up with him after a really disappointing end to last season.

Benayoun and Sturridge I can accept, but I get the impression (mostly from preseason) that they will be in contention for the right wing berth. That said, Benayoun is an absolute wildcard who could pop up anywhere.

Dempsey seems horribly overpriced to me. He was only really worth his money lasy season when he was pushed up as a forward, and now he costs more I can't see him being worth it. Having said that there really isn't a lot of value about at those kind of prices this year

You mean it's best to invest in Ramsey and Gervinho...I love the under the radar nature of Nasri so far, I certainly hope he stays off the RMT's...

You avoid Arsenal coverage at your own risk.

No one's checking for Gibbs and Vermalen anyhoo...

(Not a real RMT, I don't do them)

    Hennesey, (Ruddy)

Simpson, Gabbidon, Orr, (R. Taylor, De Laet)

    Moses, Anderson, Sinclair, Obertan, (Petrov)

    Holt, Campbell, Lita

Leaves me 28.5m in the bank to upgrade in week 2 😉
There are a lot of options to squeeze in the big guns. If only we knew which of the guns was loaded and which had blanks.

The price of DJ Campbell and RVP possible injury sent me down a bargain bucket forward line idea, then I kept going to see how far I could go and still make it mildly competitive. 4 or 5 of those would be the most I'd have in a squad

It's not even those two (Campbell and RVP) that are gonna kill you: Simpson, Taylor De Laet, Obertan, Lita and Holt do nada, you're up it...

And then of course you're desperately using your WC.

Indeed, I don't think he realizes as well that they can actually drink/eat after sundown. To be fair, it can and has been a factor with some of the more strict practitioners but only on a game day where fluid retention is difficult. Like 36 straight days in TX with over 100 degrees with day games.

Tricky start to the season as far as FPL team selections go - team formations not cut and dried, late injuries/lack of fitness to consider, and transfers that may or may not happen. Anybody care to comment on the following niggles that I have:

    - Rafel to get decent gametime at right-back for United if he keeps his head screwed on (cheapest way into United's defence)?

    - Ivanovic to get a large % of games at right-back for Chelsea - great goal threat and holding back (at the moment) on the Cashley tranfer in?

I think people will be surprised in the next couple of weeks. It's funny, people are throwing RMT's out there with players that are dead men walking. I think Anelka is gone, also I think Kalou will be delt. And quite possibly McEachran may have gone out on loan were it not for the Essien injury. Romelu Lukaku is the real deal, he's got heart and extremely physical. I think Ivanovic is nailed on for now but there have been several instances "Frank Messi" that have left AVB wondering if he is indeed mobile enough.

    Any scouts about?
Just wondering when the new site is launched? Also will there be an 'ignore poster' option? Now I know that sounds like I'm a mean prick, but occasionally you do get posters that do nowt but annoy, (present company excepted of course) so it would be less hassle to just have an ignore option.
It would save a bit of the arguments as well.

definitely a fair feature...but the problem is getting one or both parties to indulge in ignoring one another.

    Thoughts on my team pleasee:

    Given (Ruddy)
Kompany Hughes Luiz (Simspson. De Laet)
    VDV Taarabt Yaya N'zogbia (Reo-Cooker)
    Rooney Carroll Rodallega

    If RVP is fit....
    Carroll--> RVP
    VDV--> Downing
