634x258 Suspensions

Two more players toppled off the Suspension Tightrope this week, with as many as seven set to miss out this weekend for a variety of misdemeanours. Sunderland’s Lee Cattermole had looked to have turned over a new leaf after collecting a single yellow card in the first five Gameweeks but the midfielder’s booking against Palace on Monday was his fourth in the subsequent five and means he will skip this Saturday’s home encounter with Everton.

Cattermole’s former team-mate Craig Gardner will also miss out this weekend. An ever-present in the West Brom midfield since moving from Wearside this summer, Gardner received his fifth yellow in ten league appearances in Saturday’s win at Leicester and he sits out the Baggies’ home encounter with Newcastle.

Elsewhere for suspensions, Jonjo Shelvey will skip Swansea’s home clash against Arsenal after picking up a pair of yellows in last weekend’s goalless draw at Goodison. Palace midfielder Mile Jedinak also misses out as Crystal Palace make their way to Man United, while Chris Smalling is also absent for this one after he was sent packing in Sunday’s Manchester derby.

Christian Benteke’s return from injury lasted just four appearances before the big Villa striker incurred the referee’s wrath. Dismissed for violent conduct following an altercation with Tottenham’s Ryan Mason last Sunday afternoon, he now misses key clashes with West Ham, Southampton and Burnley in the next three and isn’t available until December 2, when the Midlands side travel to Palace.

Several players escaped “retrospective action” this week with seasoned bad-boy Maroanne Fellaini briefly sweating over an alleged spitting incident involving Sergio Aguero in last weekend’s derby clash. No FA action was taken on that and, similarly but perhaps more surprisingly, Leicester’s big Polish centre-back, Marcin Wasilewski, also escaped trial by video. The Foxes defender appeared to throw out an elbow in the vicinity of West Brom’s Saido Berahino in last weekend’s encounter but the FA decided to leave it be. Good news for Wasilewski, bad news for Liam Moore’s owners – the 4.0 budget option lost his place to the Pole for the clash with the Baggies on Saturday.

Elsewhere, Rio Ferdinand misses the second of a three-match ban after being sidelined following comments made on Twitter. The QPR defender, who has recently lost his place to Richard Dunne in Harry Redknapp’s back-four, is out of a home clash with City and trip to improving Newcastle. There’s better news for Chelsea’s Cesar Azpilicueta – he returns from a three-match ban in time for the weekend trip to Liverpool, with Filipe Luis likely to make way at left-back for the Anfield encounter.

In terms of the Tightrope, there are now seven players sitting just a single yellow card away from a one-match ban. Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas and Southampton’s Graziano Pelle are the most popular Fantasy assets at peril, whilst Everton (Steven Naismith and Gareth Barry) and Newcastle (Jack Colback and Daryl Janmaat) are represented twice, with West Ham centre-half Winston Reid also edging towards the naughty step.

    Bego
    Baines Clyne Cahill
    Tadic Cesc Sanchez Siggy
    Aguero Pelle Berahino

    Gilks Marney Wisdom Colo

Thinking of Berahino to Sakho given their respective upcoming fixtures?

Probably a little too much money on defense but not necessarily; i would downgrade Begovic and prepare to upgrade Tadic.

Aint getting Sterling. I just dumped him last week. Don't see it with him until Sturridge is back firing. Balotelli is the anti-goal.

He is Pool's best player, and sooner or later they will start to scoring goals. Sterling will be included in 80% of them.

I might wait on that one -- an extra FT over the intl break could be very worthwhile and for this week it is a bit sideways since Sakho is returning from injury, I think.

Only way I can fit in Sanchez without losing any of the biggies..

Doing Sterling + Siggy ----> Sanchez + 4.3mid (lucas/albrighton/many options LOL) & play Boyd as 4th mid for the next 2 games

            Krul / Mannone
            Baines / Bertrand / Moore / Wilson / Taylor
            Boyd / Sigurdsson / ADM / Sterling / Chadli
            Aguero / Costa / Pelle

    Here we go!

Sterling, Fabregas and Welbeck --> Sanchez, Di Maria and Bobby Z (-8)

Sterling and Welbeck are verging on deadwood and Fabregas is one YC off a suspension... I also feel vulnerable not owning either of Sanchez or Di Maria... it looks crazy on paper and would mean laying 4-4-2 this week but believe it sets me up for the future.

    Insane or inspired?

Tough call - in my ML a guy has taken 8 pointers twice and it's paid off each time, but takes a fair amount of luck I think. I'm debating my own hit for Sakho but I kind of think some of the best moves are doing nothing and waiting til you have 2 transfers to work with.

                11 years, 1 month ago

That's what I've done all season, this would be my first hit. I feel this 8 pointer is too much, I may go for Kane as a punt as I still have a WC if everything really falls to pot. Good luck with your potential hit!

After Ludo's awesome post, I wasn't feeling that comfortable with Aguero(c) so tried to think a bit more about different captain choices for this week and what do they bring to the table:

    Aguero:
Pros- In form, sheer class, playing QPR
Cons: Midweek game(looked a bit off after the last one), QPR getting better, Away game

    Pelle:
Pros: In form (self and team both), playing a bad defense, home game
Cons: less explosive & consistent (scored in 5 matches out of 10, only 2 double digit figures)

    Di Maria:
Pros: No midweek game, best player in team, set pieces, fixture, likely to be involved in all attacks
Cons: plays for United who ain't exactly on fire, not that much of form (points wise)

    Costa:
Pros: Rested, maybe he is due 😉
    Cons: Declining form

    Sanchez:
Pros: in the form of his life, really explosive, likely to be involved in all likely returns by Arsenal
Cons: Swans defense good, Midweek hangover (2 days more rest than Aguero though)

    Baines:
Pros: BAP magnet, very good attacking form, easy fixure (attack as well defense wise)
    Cons: Never Captain Never Bench

    Downing/Sakho:
Pros: Great form (Team as well as individual), playing demoralized Villa
Cons: Sakho returning from injury, Downing nothing that I can see

    Did I forget anyone?

So whom do you gonna captain? I would have captained Pelle but I don't have him. Leaning towards Costa again 😯 !!!

Good effort. Thanks. Pelle for me. He is just hungry for goals. Has a form team behind him, loads of personal confidence and they are playing Leicester.......

What do you think of my front eight? Anything I should change?

    Sanchez - Fabregas - Tadic - Downing - Boyd
    Aguero - Costa - Berahino

I'd like to get some ADM and/or Pelle and/or Sakho in there but I'm not sure how or if it's even necessary. I've already used my FT this week, so I'd be taking a hit for another transfer.

I am quiey satisfied with my front 8....i was looking at upgrading boyd to mosses

Upgrading my 2nd keeper to krul..

I will still have 1.5 million to upgrade my defence..
Its clyne bertrand baines s taylor chambers..
Want to keep the first 3..who should i upgrade chambers too ?

I've gone for a three way uber rotation at the back to free up the £ for Tadic/Eriksen to Walcott and Welbeck to Bony. Good moves?

    Krul (Guzan)
    Chambers Kaboul Duff (Moore Yun)
    Hazard Sanchez Eriksen Tadic (Boyd)
    Aguero (vc) Pelle (c) Welbeck
1 FT £2.2m in the bank
