Daniel Sturridge and Mario Balotelli could both be in line for a weekend return for Liverpool. Steven Taylor is expected to be in contention for Newcastle, Aaron Ramsey concedes he’s not yet returned to full match sharpness, Billy Jones nears his Sunderland comeback, whilst Harry Kane’s form continues with a brace for England Under 21s.

Strikers On Verge of Reds Return

Reports surfacing yesterday suggest that Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli is expected to be fit for his side’s clash with Crystal Palace this weekend, despite being sent home from international training with Italy with a groin concern. Daniel Sturridge, meanwhile, has dropped a major hint on Instagram that he, too, will be fit for the trip to Selhurst Park.

The Scout Says: Could we finally be set to see the two Liverpool forwards paired together for only the second time this season? The last time it happened, against Spurs in Gameweek 3, saw Brendan Rodgers’ side deliver unquestionably their best performance of the season as they ran out with a comfortable 3-0 victory. Raheem Sterling found himself on the scoresheet that day, and having notched just once since, his performances having taking a significant downturn since Sturridge was sidelined and Rodgers moved to a lone striker system. With his international team-mate now back in contention, however, we could see the young midfielder return to his dangerous best, and he couldn’t ask for a better place to start than against Palace this weekend, whose dire defensive performances have seen them concede two or more goals in four of their last five showings. With more decent fixtures to follow for Liverpool (STO, lei, SUN) both Sterling, at 8.5, and Sturridge, at 11.1, are poised to scale our Watchlists in the coming weeks.

MAGPIES HOPEFUL OF TAYLOR RECOVERY

Newcastle defender Steven Taylor is expected to recover from a knee problem in time to face QPR this weekend – contrary to reports that he had suffered a further injury setback during the international break.

The Scout Says: It’s been a merry-go-round couple of days for Taylor’s recent influx of owners, with earlier reports indicating that he could be out for up to four weeks having now been quashed. The 3.9-valued centre-back has picked up in popularity after securing a starting spot in a backline that has accumulated three clean sheets in their last four Gameweeks, though with skipper Fabricio Coloccini a doubt for the Gameweek 12 meeting with QPR, the Magpies’ defensive credentials could be put to the test this weekend: the Argentine has started every league match this season, and earned bonus points each time they have managed a shutout. Taylor’s return is likely to move Mike Williamson further down the pecking order – after recovering from injury last time around, the latter was handed a spot on the bench as Pardew opted for Paul Dummett alongside Coloccini at centre-half and the young Welshman could be tasked with filling in at the heart of defence until the Magpies have a full quota to choose from.

RAMSEY CONCEDES HE’S NOT FULLY FIT

Aaron Ramsey has spoken out about his recent criticism and admitted that he is yet to reach 100% this season:

“I’ve had a few injuries this season and I’m just getting back. To be honest, I’m still not 100 per cent physically there. The injuries do take a bit out of me. It will take me a few more games to be back to my best. But I’m not worried. I know my qualities. Certain criticism from people is unfair.”

The Scout Says: The Welshman was handed his first start since Gameweek 6 last time around against Swansea, as Arsene Wenger continues to ease him back into action following his injury difficulties. Having made such a positive start to the campaign, Ramsey is now without a goal since Gameweek 2, and, what’s more, the Gunners’ recent move to a 4-4-2 formation is likely to limit his ability to get forward as much: indeed, his performance at the Liberty saw him register an ICT rating of just 3.0, as opposed to an average of 14.4 across his first three displays of the season. Should Wenger stick with the same system, Theo Walcott – once fully fit – should feature on the flanks or possibly up top on occasion, and thus looks a better option than the 8.8-priced Ramsey for a similar price (9.0).

JONES EDGES CLOSER TO BLACK CAST COMEBACK

Reports confirm Billy Jones is expected to feature in training in under two weeks’ time as he nears his Sunderland return.

The Scout Says: Having finally broken into the first XI back in Gameweek 6, his subsequent injury the following week has come as a real blow for the right back, whose start to life at the Stadium of Light since his summer move from West Brom has been far from idyllic. His absence, coupled with further injuries amongst the Black Cats’ backline, has also allowed the error-prone Wes Brown increased pitch time, and the former United man is the prime candidate to make way upon Jones’ comeback, with Santiago Vergini then set to move back to the centre of defence in order to allow the former Baggies man the right-back berth. With four hugely testing fixtures (CHE, MCI, liv, WHM) proceeding this weekend’s trip to Leicester, Jones’ return will hand Gus Poyet a major boost as he attempts to continue the form which has seen his side earn four points from the last two Gameweeks.

KANE DOUBLE NOT ENOUGH FOR ENGLAND

Tottenham’s Harry Kane scored twice for England Under-21s last night as they lost 3-2 to France.

The Scout Says: Handed a first league start of the season against Stoke in Gameweek 11 after notching 10 goals in his previous 14 appearances, Kane’s form continues to impress. Last night’s brace will be a real confidence boost ahead of Sunday’s trip to Hull and, at 4.8, the youngster could offer managers a superb budget forward option if he can carry on his scoring form and hold on to his first team spot. Whilst matches against Everton and Chelsea in the next three may deter many, it’s worth noting that neither have impressed defensively so far and have mustered just three clean sheets apiece in the opening 11 Gameweeks. The following four (CPL, swa, BUR, lei) all look promising and should offer Kane a chance to oust midfielder Nacer Chadli as the best value route into Mauricio Pochettino’s side in the final third.

If I had him I'd rather he didn't, this is Soton's last stand and it's going to be glorious. A team of FPL heroes on Monday Night Football, clearly they're going to win 4-0 then begin a terrible run of form.

They will not have a terrible run...the big guns won't just turn up and win easily vs Southampton. Expect at least one win from the saints against the big guns and a few draws.

The form of Southampton and the lack of form of all the big teams recently, probably. If Arsenal can lose to Swansea, they can lose to Saints. United are poor - full stop. QPR could've beaten City so Saints can. Seems fairly straight-forward to me.

Anyone else baffled by Sanchez low captaincy in the poll? Of course Costa and Aguero are great options but the most in form player vs a United defence plagued by injuries, shouldn't Sanchez be seriously considered?

I think captaining him is a great differential. Utd lack a strong midfield and defensive. With Arsenal though, it's hard to know who will score for them. It could be Ramsey, Walcott, Welbeck, etc. With City it's usually just Aguero when he plays up top by himself.

sanchez is by far Arsenal's best player at the moment...I think the question is who is weaker defensively - United, WBA or Swans. I'd say united.

But can Arsenal attack the way City and Chelsea do? No. Also, this is a big occasion so the circumstances are different. I think it will be a 1-1.

Maybe not as well as Chelsea. City have been a bit disappointing though. It's possible United makeshift defence has done surprisingly well so far. This is a big test though

I don't think Arsenal have the potential to put a score on an opponent like Chelsea and City do. Aguero at home has to be captained, imo.

If I had £1 for every time I read, " Hazard explosion imminent" I could wipe out the US government's deficit. People have been saying this for months....when he finally explodes he then blanks for the next couple....I got Fab for 9mil so much better value than Hazard for 10mil. People also are saying that he's got great stats so he'll soon translate these into points. He's had great stats from the start of the season....stats also don't tell the full story...he was one on one with DDG vs United and couldn't score....I can't believe that people are ditching ADM for Haz atm. Yes he may get a fifteen point haul, but then he'll blank....and blank again. He was good against Wales but didn't look at all like scoring.....I think even though ADM is out of form he's a better option along with Fab at the moment. In Uniteds easier fixtures ADM could come back into form...but if not I'll be ditching him.....definitely not for Hazard though unless he starts to show some consistency like Sanchez and Fab have. Any other opinions??

Seriously though. I've owned him since week 1 and captained him 3 times much to my disappointment. I like that he takes pens for Chelsea, I can see them getting a LOT this season.

Yeh Ithe fact that he takes pens is a great bonus but without then where would he be? That's one of the reasons that I won't get him, Chelsea won't always get pen and he isn't scoring from open plays...I think that the most by any team was six last season....I'd get him for 9.5 but 10 is too much when he's not consistent. And yes sorry "Justbetter" I may have misinterpreted his stats but they are starting to get better.

Liverpool scored 10 of 12 penalties last season. Just from what I've seen from him this season the only way for him is up. Even though hes been underperforming in fpl terms hes still keeping pace with Fabregas. He is definitely a form player, and once he hits form hes fairly unstoppable. See last season.

Ya never know, they have a fair few divers in their squad, including Haz himself. Hes never missed a PL penalty. If I had ADM or Fab I wouldn't bother shifting to Haz, but I have neither so I'm content 😀

UTD attacking stats have reduced recently, and yes whilst they've had tougher fixtures, it's no surprise that ADM returns have gone down also. On the flipside hazard stats have been on the increase and he's getting more chances per game and having more shots. Added to the fact he's on pens and chelsea have so far scored in every game they're played, then there's sound reasoning for doing ADM > Hazard.

      1. Kurtinho

This. I've stayed clear of ADM all season. If I'm paying that much I want consistent goal threat. ADM is a phenomenal player but hes never scored more than 7 goals in 1 league season.

But the fact is that u miss out on all the adm double figures..and its not replacable by any other player during that period

I do agree actually, for me ADM has two more weeks to prove himself and then he's out. I also agree that Haz is on the up, the problem for me is that I got Fab at 9mil and he's currently out scoring Haz at 10mil. However I may get Haz in soon as I think he'll hit form eventually. Another point though about Haz is that I feel that people are idolising him after last season, and are keeping him when there are better options, e.g Fab at 9.0 for me. Look what happened to RVP he had a couple of great seasons and then just disappeared into Fantasy oblivion, the same could happen to Haz, it is unlikely though.

You can physically see RVP declining in form though. Haz is still a young guy and although he hasn't racked up big scores this season, he has still been quality in every match I've seen him. I had Fab since the start also but cashed in the 0.3m profit that I made to get Sanchez at 10.3m early. I do agree that Fab is good value, and was reluctant to sell him.. I just feel Haz or Oscar are the way forward. Especially if you want to take risks and not follow the masses 🙂

Interested to see people's thoughts on what they will do if Fabregas or Costa fall off the tight rope this weekend?

If Fab goes I will sell, with 1.0m ITB I will probably get ADM and keep long term.

If Costa goes I will bench, as I've had him in since day one?

    Your plans?

Not me. Never felt any sort of rivalry with Scotland (or any other nation come to that) so it's just another tedious friendly in my eyes.

I realise this will earn me the contempt of those who feel more strongly about such things but that's just the way it is 🙂

Haha - no doubt! Your comments ring true for me and I think it could well be a local phenomenon. I remember reading a book (by Billy Furious) which basically covered a period of time being a Newcastle supporter. Early on he explained the difference between Newcastle matches and England matches. It was something along the lines of:

"When Newcastle have lost I wake up the next day and I'm in a bad mood even before I've worked out why. When England have lost it can be lunchtime the next day before I even remember there was a game."

            Summed it up for me.

Not sure how much to read into it, but in the local sport paper, there was an interview with
the Slovakian coach Jan Kozak and he was very unhappy in the state Skrtel was when
he arrived to play for the Slovak national team this weekend.

Curious if some Liverpool players have a fitness issue due to training methods/something else, but then again it could have been an individual issue.

no aguero has meant i have a good all round team - no week have i scored under 50 points as a couple of my team have always done well. had pelle and clyne from the start , bought ADM, Baines and Pelle etc at the right times.

i do feel like the last couple of weeks im clinging on tho with no aguero and will lose ground if i dont get him in

Only mistake I have made was not to go Costa to Kun a few gameweeks back when Costa got injured and Kun was 12m.

Currently have Fab , ADM and Sanchez (currently undropable) in my mid with Siggy

Downing , Chadli , Siggy are 3m+ cheaper than the Fabregas's and ADMS and Oscar is 1.5m cheaper than Fab/HAz . Sterling could be decent value at 8.5m and Walcott if he starts playing 90 mins

Hi, does anyone know a program/app/website where you can create a cup using FF teams? On the FF site, I only found create league or head to head. I realize you can probably do it manually in Excel or something, but I was just wondering if there were any sites that already exist.

    Thanks.

Anyone thinking of going with the big 3 when Sturridge comes back?
