Fernando Torres is an early doubt for Chelseaโ€™s weekend trip to Stoke after reportedly suffering concussion whilst playing for Spain this evening.

The striker lined up for the Spanish against Italy in tonightโ€™s friendly but lasted just 14 minutes before being forced off with a head injury.

Medical staff are expected to examine Torres before offering a further assessment. Already they are insisting that his withdrawal was purely a precaution.

However, if Torres has suffered concussion, he would seem likely to be forced to sit out of the trip to Britannia.

There are already doubts over Andre Villas-Boasโ€™ team selection for Sundayโ€™s game with Torres unable to take his opportunity to impress in the pre-season. Didier Drogbaโ€™s physical presence against Tony Pulisโ€™ muscular outfit may well have been preferred regardless of the availability of the ยฃ50 million Spaniard.

Drogba was also in action tonight, scoring his 50th international goal via a penalty in Ivory Coast’s 4-3 victory against Israel in Geneva.

Torres is currently owned by over 88,000 Fantasy Premier League managers – Drogba currently claims almost double that figure.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Anyway why do you think they are probably off? It's been quiet tonight in London

Yeah, should be made tomorrow, but I think I read it might still be dragged out to Friday. I wouldn't take any news confirmed till Friday evening, as they could decide tomorrow and then it could all go tits up again by friday/saturday

      He always does well.

People are forgetting about the new bonus system though. He used to be really valuable because he was cheap and playing for Wolves or Pompy he often picked up 3 bonus per game. Will probs be different this year.

Sorry for the incoming repost, just I only really got one reply, not even about the discussion I wanted to discuss!

How do you guys think Stoke will do in europe? Got a token £1 bet on them to take europe one compound fracture at a time and win the whole damn thing!

(Oh, and here's a team for you to judge!)
    Enjoy generic team #12034

    Given(Ruddy)
    Baines Kompany Orr (Hughes, Simpson)
    N’Somnia Nani Silva(C) Moses (O’Hara)
    Suarez Goodwille Drogba

Taking a punt on Goodwille, and Suarez/Baines will turn into Carroll/Cole depending on fitness!

    My current team is this:

    Given (ruddy)

    Hughes Kompany Ivanovic (Simpson Gabbidon)

    Silva Malouda Taarabt Sess Moses

    Rooney Suarez (Holt)

    I'm considering this.

    Midfield and strikers changing to:

    Ramsey Malouda taarabt Sess Moses

    Bent Drogba Suarez.

    Any thoughts?

what ive seen is alot of people putting 4.0 players in there team (dont think anyone will play then necessarily) but in my opinion i would downgrade a player and have better players to sub . . .

The common belief is that simpson and gabbidon will be starting though. So long as I have players that are playing I don't care if they're wonder subs. You're right though if they're not getting a game I'll have to give it a little shuffle.

Hiya lads, whilst it’s quietened down a little from earlier today, could you plzzz RMT and let me know what you think, I had a sold generic team before I tampered with it, and I have now ended up with this.

    Given (Ruddy)

Kompany – Orr – Carragher (Hughes, Simpson)

    Nani – N’Zogbia – Kuyt – Moses (Dyer)

    Rooney – Bent – Rodallega

I know it aint the most solid at the back but got a feeling about this as a whole for some reason that it can do well.

    Comment/criticisms welcome, cheers.

As you have Bent, maybe lose N'Zogbia? Downgrade him and upgrade Hughes to Jagielka/Distin as they rotate well with Carragher.

Yeah, looks good, like i said, i would downgrade N'Zog to a 6.5 such as Sessegnon, Ramsey, Taarabt or even a 6 such as Hunt, O'Hara, Walters. And the use 0.5 to upgrade Hughes to Jagielka or Distin. And use the remaining 0.5 or 1.0 to upgrade Dyer.

Nice to see someone playing Kuyt. Not many have picked him and he ALWAYS scores well. Currently on pens too and a good bet for bonus points with his possession and work rate. Excellent differential for 10mil. I've been tempted...

i would rather have Malouda/Silva for Kuyt. you have no Chelsea and Man City cover. If you want a liverpool attacker, can probably do Rooney to Carroll/Suarez (if he starts), or just Bent to Carroll. I would prefer the former though.

Carragher is a bad choice IMO. Liverpool's been pretty leaky at the back.

    WHAT HAPPENED TO ORIGINALITY?!?!?!!!

I would love to see some teams that ARENT being run by SHEEP. Every RMT request has the usual GIVEN (RUDDY), KOMPANY, COLE, NANI, MALOUDA, SILVA, MOSES (WTF!!!), ROONEY, CARROLL, RODALLEGA.

Ohhhhh somebody is touchy. Show us your team, then we can laugh because you've got silly choices in there and we've all got the choices of people that have thought a lot about their teams and have therefore come to the conclusion that these are the best set of players to go for.

Somany ideas in my head atm. I'm considering looking at replacements for Holt and Taarbt. I#m also considering brining in Lampard. Another idea is to find .5m from somewhere and to upgrade Nani to Malouda GW2. All a bit up in the air atm.

I know how you feel, what with being up in the air and all!

Don't get rid of Holt. I think thats a good team personally, Defence is a bit weak, but you got rotators in there I guess, your starting attacking line is looking a lot like what mine is going to be.

Taraabt isn't worth the money IMO, perhaps Tchoyi, check out my midfielders article ๐Ÿ˜‰

That will give you the funds for Malouda GW2.

P.S: Can we introduce it to them now? Please? Pretty please?

I'm justifying it to myself as "he's like a midfielder who gets extra points for clean sheets and goals"... I actually think he is probably worth it, he's essentially an attacking player. However when you look at your team, it looks bad.

          At the moment I have:

          Schwarzer-Mignolet
Baines - Lescott - De Laet - Orr - Rangel
          Silva - Downing - N'Zogbia - O'Hara - Moses
          Drogba - Carroll - Holt

1m in the bank for Lescott->Cole. Which isn't actually that bad. I think what kills me looking at your team is Drogba and RVP up front...

You could get RVP by downgrading Downing to someone who's 6.5 or less. Plenty of options, although then you'd be replacing Carroll as well and go from two Pool to none.

HOdge.......Good team, no weakness, if RVP starts. Lots of flexibility. (I don't know Kenny). The only possible improvement would be another 4.0 D and save the .5 for changes in GW2, when everyone's team turns brown. Go get 'em.

    Lads,

Is it better to have a fantastic 11 with a poor bench and make sure you stay on top of all the latest injury news or a assemble a decent squad of 15 players?

Squad. Better to have a few options you can rotate than three players you're basically just wasting money on. Keeping on top of injuries is one thing but sometimes circumstances included injuries/suspensions/missed fixtures etc will conspire to the point where you'll be struggling to piece together an eleven. Nothing wrong with having a fairly weak bench if you want to spend elsewhere, just make sure they're at least regular starters with a bit of potential.

From previous seasons i think your bench players need to be half decent especially now with all the rotation happening. I try to go with a balanced team throughout.

Either tactic can be effective. I prefer to rotate to stay on top of fixtures. E.g. I'd go with 3 rotating mid price attackers rather than 2 starters and a cheapie for the bench.
Budget restrictions mean you'll have to find a couple dirt cheap gems to be able to afford the top players you want though.
There is no right way imo
