634x258 Suspensions

A couple of London-based centre-halves were the latest to topple off the Suspension Tightrope over the Gameweek 12 action. West Ham skipper Winston Reid and QPR’s Richard Dunne both earned their fifth cautions of the campaign against Everton and Newcastle respectively and, as a result, are set to serve one-match bans this weekend.

Reid’s absence for Saturday’s home encounter against Newcastle hands Sam Allardyce a dilemma at the back. The Hammers boss rolled out a 3-5-2 at Goodison but is expected to return to a four-man backline, with James Tomkins alongside James Collins in the heart of defence.

With Dunne forced onto the sidelines, Rio Ferdinand could be in line for a return to action for the first time since Gameweek 7 as Harry Redknapp’s side welcome Leicester to Loftus Road. The former United man has only just completed a three-match ban but could be set to partner Steven Caulker against the Foxes on Saturday afternoon.

We now have as many as 18 players sitting on the Suspension Tightrope and with the fixtures coming thick and fast over the next month, there are a number of popular Fantasy picks sailing close to a ban. Chelsea duo Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa are the most high profile, with both sitting in over 50% of FPL sides. Costa certainly has his work cut out to avoid incurring the referee’s wrath – he’s been booked in all four of his appearances on the road and now faces five away trips in the eight Gameweeks between now and New Year.

Southampton’s Graziano Pelle is also just one caution away from a ban. Owned by over 30% of FPL managers, he’s second only to Costa in popularity amongst forwards – at a time where rest and rotation are rife, many Fantasy managers will be hoping to avoid the nightmare scenario where both strikers are booked in the same Gameweek.

Both Newcastle and Hull are the worst affected, with three players apiece. The in-form Magpies duo Daryl Janmaat and Moussa Sissoko are also amongst those perilously close to a one-match suspension, as are Swansea defenders Neil Taylor and Ashley Williams ahead of a very kind schedule for Garry Monk’s men.

In terms of other new suspensions, Claudio Yacob lasted just 28 minutes of his first league start under Alan Irvine before this two-footed challenge on Diego Costa earned him an early bath and subsequent three-match ban.

Hull’s Gaston Ramirez will out sit out the next trio of fixtures after being dismissed for violent conduct at the weekend. Steve Bruce may have slammed Tottenham’s Jan Vertonghen for his part in the Uruguayan’s sending off on Sunday but, in spite of his protestations, the Tigers boss has admitted he’s unlikely to appeal to the FA.

Two other players remain on the sidelines due to previous indiscretions. Tottenham’s Kyle Naughton serves the second of a two-match ban at home to Everton, whilst Villa’s Christian Benteke misses the last of a three-match suspension as Paul Lambert’s side roll up to fellow strugglers Burnley.

*I like that front three Muppet, good value in Bony & Rooney is becoming slowly a viable option
I feel that back line is still a bit weak if Baines is fit, I think he'd easily outscore Eriksen throughout the end of the year.

Oh the wonders one can build w/o Baines

He might outscore Baines but would Azpi stay close to him?

Aye, having Baines in my team has been a double edged sword. But it's now turned into nothing more than an annoyance.

I think Azpi is a great chance in any case, but in an ideal world, I'd want both glued on my defense throughout the year. Extra points from the former, & cleanies + likely BAPs from the latter

Hehe agreed, he'll come & bite you soon. Spurs defense is just what Baines needs to get going 😉

If Baines were fit I wouldn't even be contemplating it. Eriksen a bit of a punt yes but for me the best of a very poor bunch in the mid price bracket. And could well stay with the premium options if he finds some form.

    Heaton (Mannone)
    Chambers Clyne Yun (Duff, Wisdom)
    ADM Hazard Siggy Chadli (Boyd)
    Aguero Costa Welbeck

    2FT and £1.8 ITB

    Which is better?
    A) Baines & Austin
    B) Austin & Sanchez
    C) Azpilicueta & Austin
    D) Azpilicueta & save the other FT.
    E) Other.

The series was originally turned down by Fox in 2003, which was concerned about the long-term prospects of such a series

You shouldn't rely too much on Wikipedia for credible informations. When Paul Scheuring(creator of PB) pitched it to Fox as a mini-series back in 2003 it was actually turned down(that's because The X-Files ended a year before and they were looking for a big hit that could stay with them for a long period of time) but when Scheuring pitched it again in 2004, he did that by pitching it as a Two seasons series and Fox gave the greenlight with a 2+1 contract because they had already cancelled different series and they needed something new.
I watched the pilot when it aired back in 2005 and Fox gave the order for a full season after three episodes, even though Scheuring had planned a full season with no premature finale.

The first season of PB is the best one, the second season has almost the same quality of S1 but without the same freshness(being outside Fox River), S3 is just above the average because it is a repetition of S1 and suffered the 2007 writers' strike. Season 4 is a repetition of S2 but is much better than S3.

Deadwood didn't really suffer a decline, S1 is absolutely great and S2 is the same. S3 not on the same level but still ten times better than anything on TV nowadays.

Chambers out for now, sketchy player with Debuchy back.
Would rather AdM over Fab if possible, rest is good rotation wise.
If Baines is fit, I'd want him back there as well if possible
2 big hitters in the back > 1 big hitter + one suspension prone player & one player who's likely to be rotated over December

5 straight 90 minute league games (plus 90 mins in the CL yesterday) and matches hazard and sanchez for touches in the box, along with being 2nd to only tadic in chances created. thats "great form" imo. Looked very attacking against qpr and swansea too

Which 3 of these 10 players would you most want in your team? They're all free agents in my draft league and I need to decide who to target.

    1) Drogba
    2) Coloccini
    3) McGeady
    4) Vokes
    5) Jutkiewicz
    6) Riviere
    7) Monreal

Well I prefer some of those over Haidara who i currently have and want to swap. Leaning towards a forward punt but Stones or Coloccini could be smart pickups too despite being injured right now.

    2. Somalion

Colo, Vokes and maybe Drogba? (I only suggest Drogba because of Christmas rotation for Costa).

Stones may wind up being a pain in the arse but could work out. De Jong is the only other one I think I'd be interested in but then again, who knows when he'll actually play football frequently without injury.

My team is actually pretty solid atm so I can actually absorb an injured guy for a few weeks if it means that I can use them as trade bait later on. Nailed on defenders and attackers for decent teams always have demand 🙂

Well I would say Colo and Vokes (I reckon Vokes will be absolutely nailed on when back) are good bets. Then you just have one to take a bit of a punt on!

Cheers mate. I can actually only pick one of them, but wanted 3 to put them in order of preference (i.e. in case someone else takes one or two of them before me, as there's a claim order!)

What order would you put Vokes and Coloccini in? Not sure any of the others are worth swapping Haidara for atm given that he has whm and bur next two actually.

He's a good player, but is a big rotation risk so doesn't really have much value in a draft league as he's hard to trade and would rarely be dependable for starts, especially now that Mirallas and Barkley are back.
