The ScoutCast – Episode 144 – Squeaky

It’s “squeaky bum time” in the ScoutCast studio as Granville continues to chip away at my previously “unassailable” mini-league lead. My co-host stumbled through an injury-strewn Gameweek 12 with the honours, leaving me trailing and worrying that he’ll have clawed it all back by Christmas.

Pressing on, we flog the Hazard vs Fabregas debate once again and run the rule over a cast of budget strikers, desperately searching for the optimum way to spend the two transfers burning holes in our pockets.

We asses the week’s transfer bandwagons, look ahead to Gameweek 13 and take time out to tease Jonty on his Di Maria u-turn. We then combine “powers” to terrifying effect and prepare the ScoutCast XI for their Fantasy Football Scout Cup qualifying round, having flexed its muscles to the tune of a 59-point Gameweek 12. Intimidating stuff.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Good (or atleast neutral) imo. Giroud is back and they should play pretty well together. There is no reason to think Alexis will stop playing great.

Yeah, was just wondering about his position. I guess it means Gru will def get gametime.

I think (and really hope) he will be tucked in behind Giroud and keep Ox to the right (been brilliant). Cazorla is doing pretty good to atm. We have had a couple of really bad games, but imo the Dortmund game was a good turnaround, we played good (as vs United).

I wouldnt double up on Arsenal just yet tho, and if I were it would probably be Ox.

Yep.. and Giroud is not a bad choice actually.. could benefit a lot from Alexis and an in form Ox.

Wilshere out means Sanchez is more likely to play centrally, which is good.

Arteta out is slightly bad because he keeps the midfield ticking better than Flamini.

I'd say so. Although, as Giroud probably isn't match fit, Welbeck might start if he recovers from his knee injury.

I don't fancy them to get much as a team against WBA. I'd be surprised to see Sanchez hit double figures this week!

Just that they are struggling as a team and that WBA have been pretty solid themselves. With injuries all around they have a limited squad to pick from and have had many games the last few days. Fatigue is 1 factor and I fancy WBA to nick this or get a draw!

I'm still intrigued by the situation at Stoke. Since the re-introduction of Bojan they have been lining up, and playing, with two mids ahead of the striker (just as the Swans did early season)..

Any Stoke fans want to share their thoughts ?...Walters is looking very promising and is delivering whilst everybody is busy looking the other way...

3 goals and an assist in his last five since returning, and with reduced minutes as he has been gradually brought back.

I'm intrigued by how they have set up. With Crouch it was a simple set up with him playing well ahead of the team as a target man. With Bojan in the team it looks more like he is supplying in the channels for Walters and Moses(!)...It's always worth watching teams who set up like that. Hard to say just looking at avg positions though. Hence I want a view from the terraces...

        Stoke fan here (waves arms).

Agreed, Moses out is a blow but it depends how Hughes decides to replace him.

Assaidi offers a similar threat of pace down the flank but Arnie could also come in for a more creative role.

Even Stoke fans are slightly unsure of our direction this season, our home form is actually quite poor - yet we're becoming quite a dangerous away team.

I think this is because we have a bit of pace on the flanks for the counter and Walters, Diouf in particular put in ridiculous shifts closing down the opposition defense high up the pitch, this seems to work better when teams are set up to come at you.

The Burnley game was a bit of an anomaly - we battered them for 83 minutes. We'd win that game comfortably most weeks.

On balance, I'd avoid Stoke assets if i'm honest, the fixtures are horrible and I don't see us constantly turning over the big boys.

I can see him moving from Barca soon, his relationship with the club has definitely soured of late and he's under pressure in Spain over his tax affairs. If he were to move there's not many places he could realistically go - Chelsea, City, PSG?

SANCHEZ v WBA (a) - Has scored 4 at home and 4 away. FORM is 9.0 - Owned by 32.8%
HAZARD v Sunderland (a) - Has scored 4 at home and 0 away. FORM is 7.7 - Owned by 18%

Taking into account AWAY form, the way teams generally play more defensively away, overall form, and Ownership, this would suggest Sanchez is a stronger captaincy choice than the Chelsea pair in my opinion.

      ALSO - Bonus Potential

Sanchez has taken Max 3 BAPS on 5/6 occasions he has scored and has 15 so far.
Hazard has taken Max 3 BAPS on 3/4 occasions he has scored and has 12 so far.
Costa has taken Max 3 BAPS on 2/8 occasions he has scored and has 9 so far.

      ALSO - Assist Potential

Sanchez chances created in last 4 matches - 14
Hazard chances created in last 4 matches - 9
Costa chances created in last 4 matches - 8

Anyway... thats convinced me on Sanchez.... who's with me!??!

One thing to point out though is that the difficulty of the previous fixtures isn't taken into consideration.

For me it is ADM or Sanchez. I feel the risk is bigger with ADM (not in good form, FPL-wise), but Hull at home should mean more points than WBA away?

He would have a right to feel aggrieved if he put even a small amount of effort in when he plays.

He and Eriksen were the ring leaders in the players revolt over Ade and he's sulking in Belgium after getting his ears burned by Levy. That's why we have no news on a not injury.

Or he's earned enough money from his book that he doesn't need to be associated with a team at serious risk of relegation.

      Chester to:

      C. Rangel

      E. Terry
