With a quick turnaround in fixtures, we take time out to assess the Premier League treatment rooms this evening and cast an eye over those players who picked up injuries over Saturday and Sunday’s fixtures.

Arsenal
Arsene Wenger’s injury troubles continue to mount as he lost both his left-backs to problems in the 1-0 win at West Brom. Nacho Monreal picked up an ankle knock before his replacement, Kieran Gibbs, suffered yet another issue. Wenger gave us an update on that pair, post-match, whilst also revealing that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has concerns over a knee injury ahead of the visit of Southampton on Wednesday…

“Gibbs struggled a little bit with an ankle problem and Monreal with a knee problem. Oxlade-Chamberlain also had a knee problem.”

Aston Villa
Paul Lambert’s defensive worries continued at the weekend. With Ron Vlaar, Philippe Senderos and Nathan Baker already sidelined through injury, the Villa boss is sweating on the fitness of Ciaran Clark after the centre-half was forced off during injury time of yesterday’s draw at Burnley.

Crystal Palace
Dwight Gayle was withdrawn just 21 minutes into the weekend draw at Swansea with a leg injury, though other sources also state he’s sustained a back problem. Gayle can be considered a doubt for Tuesday’s home clash with Villa, having started the last two league outings.

Hull City
Robbie Brady was replaced on 75 minutes of the Tigers’ loss at Old Trafford having sustained a knock, according to match reports.

Manchester City
City are sweating on the fitness of skipper Vincent Kompany after the defender suffered a hamstring injury in this afternoon’s win at Southampton. Post-match, Manuel Pellegrini – who also has Eliaquim Mangala suspended for the midweek trip to Sunderland – went on to say:

“We cannot know the situation at the moment. He has a problem with his hamstring. We will see with the doctor how important it is but at this moment, I cannot tell you exactly what he has. We will see.”

Man United
Angel Di Maria is almost certain to miss tomorrow’s home encounter with Stoke after being forced off just 13 minutes into the win over Hull with his own hamstring injury. Wayne Rooney is also nursing a calf complaint ahead of the Potters clash, though Louis van Gaal is a little more optimistic on his captain’s chances of being available:

“Angel shall be out for Stoke, I think. Wayne, I don’t know. He has already told me he wants to play against Stoke, but Rooney always says that. We will know in 48 hours..”

Newcastle United
The Magpies are sweating on the fitness of right-back Daryl Janmaat, who was forced off with a hamstring injury in the 1-0 loss at West Ham. Alan Pardew has also confirmed Rob Elliott will take his place between the sticks “for the next four or five games” due to Tim Krul’s ankle injury.

QPR
The R’s budget left-back Yun Suk-Young was replaced on 51 minutes of the 3-2 win over Leicester after sustaining a knee injury. Bobby Zamora missed out altogether with a slight back injury.

Southampton
Jack Cork was unavailable for today’s home loss to City due to illness, whilst Morgan Schneiderlin was forced off after sustaining a leg injury. After the match, Ronald Koeman rolled out an update on the midfield pair ahead of the midweek trip to Arsenal:

“He [Morgan] had an injury in his upper right leg, we have to wait, maybe we will know tomorrow [Monday] about if he will be okay for Wednesday. Jack I hope will be back, we need the players.”

Stoke City
Mark Hughes also has worries in central midfield ahead of the trip to Old Trafford. Steve Sidwell was withdrawn during the first half of yesterday’s loss at Liverpool with a knee problem, whilst replacement Glenn Whelan was subbed off at the break with a calf complaint. After the match, the Potters boss was pessimistic on both players’ chances of making it in time for the trip to United:

“We’ve got a game on Tuesday and it’s highly unlikely either will be available. Whether it was because he didn’t have an opportunity to warm up prior to coming on I don’t know, but he (Whelan) has pulled his calf unfortunately.”

Tottenham Hotspur
Vlad Chiriches limped out of this afternoon’s home win over Everton and was replaced by Erik Dier midway through the second period. Kyle Naughton is back from suspension for Wednesday’s trip to Stamford Bridge so the Spurs right-back situation is a little cloudy to say the least.

West Brom
The Baggies left-back Sebastien Pocognoli was forced off with a leg problem towards the end of yesterday’s home loss to Arsenal. Alan Irvine rolled out an update after the match:

“Seb has a dead leg, we think. He and Chris Brunt slid in at the same time and it seems he came off worse. All we can do now is assess him and see how he is. Dead legs can be a problem because you never know how quickly they will settle down.”

Not considering to sell Baines, but damn you Mirallas for taking so many corners..

he's pretty good at taking them, better for defensive tactics as well as a full back can hover around the box and double back quickly if a break happens.

I think that keeping Baines will be sufficient and necessary coverage for Everton over the course of the season

    ------------------- Aguero(c) // Austin ------------------

    Guzan // Duff // Yun // Costa

    Did ADM > Hazard yesterday

That midfield full of attacking potential is quite lovely.
Great side Roys, great homies in the back too boot.

I am going to post my team for fun. I have made my transfer and do not intend on taking out Costa despite it being quite tempting fro Rooney.

    Foster
    Hutton-Chambers-Caulker
    Boyd- Siggy-Fabregas- Hazard-Sanchez
    Austin-Aguero

    Subs - McCarthy-Clyne-Duff-Costa

It works out pretty well even without Costa as Boyd's fixture is decent imo

I know and when I switched my computer on I was going to do two transfers bringing him in for a hit. Then I thought about the value I would drop. Then I looked at the fixtures after this week. Then I did RMT's with both options.(Better with Costa even missing a week). Then I considered the possibility with Falao back and it being an easier fixture Rooney may just be a cameo anyway in either of the next 2 fixtures I decided just to lose ADM and miss the hit and hope. At least we know next weekend Costa will play and be fully rested

I'd be tempted to opt for Rooney right now.
Not ideal, but with Hazard & Fab in tandem, Costa out for Rooney would leave me at ease. in your position. You may not like it, but Rooney has every chance to outscore Costa 'til Janaury. Keeping in mind he has this week to take advantage of.

Honestly Boyd's a great sub, but he'll get 3 points at best.
Plus, you'll have 0.6 more to play with & upgrade your Clyne to Azpi/Baines.

Which option looks best for this GW:

    A) Clyne
    B) Cresswell -4
    C) Terry/Cahill -4

(B and C would be dropping Felipe Luis, not Clyne)

Doubt Baines plays midweek. He looked a shell of himself today. And Chelsea have Spurs so it doesn't seem a good time for a Chelsea defender.

4 clean sheets in 6 home games(for Chelsea) isnt bad I guess, though Spurs havent failed to score in away games. Save FT then 🙂

Baines a doubt. Chelsea with a tough fixture. Not crazy about that. And I think Berahino is as good a shout as Bony right now, although admittedly not this week.

Well the problem is that those picks have poor fixtures this week. And I just sold Baines because I thought he would miss a few over this next few weeks and Mirallas will take much of his FK threat.

Boyd > Mirallas you know you want to.

I would do Bera>Bony personally. Make the most this week with a 3rd good striker while plenty will line up with just 2.

Mirallas will be in soon enough but too risky to bring him in for midweek IMO.

Bony is really, really tempting. But Berahino has some great fixtures going forward. And I'm quite interested in Benteke and/or Kane going forward as well.

Surely they have a shot at a cleanie if Morgan's back in the fold eh. They're both being sold though. Bertrand on a steeper slope it looks like but I have .2m less in him. Ugh.

Your front line seems a minor concern NOW in comparison to your backline Mupps.
Hull, Villa, & QPR coming up for Bera does seem nice though

I think I'd still opt for Bony in the long term with his form at current. That front three would be lethal IMO & leaves you room to upgrade both saints to Baines & Azpi consequently

Either way, one of your Saints has to go I reckon, dead wood with dead value.

I think Everton were given specific orders to attack down the right. Baines was fit enough to start but perhaps not fit enough to bomb down the left taking every set piece and riding challenges.

      Would keep.

Happens nearly every GW, every season. People create teams to get highest GW score. Or else have a second team where they use multiple transfers to get GW no1 rank.
      Sad, but true.

Actually looks like a fun way to play if you thinnk about it though. If you have a challenge with mates that is as opposed to just trying to get the highest GW score which is sad. Kinda like a scout picks challenge every week.

I have faith! Two away fixtures in the next three, either Sakho or Valencia will be back, 6.0M, takes set-pieces. If Eriksen dominates against Chelsea though, it will be hard to ignore him with a FT.

I nearly went Clichy this week but with Kompany and Mangala out and the risk of rotation (especially with the number of upcoming games) I just don't think it's wise.

Creswell or Jagielka are good options in that range.

Such an attractive price to get into MCI defense. Was thinking that Mangala and Kompany's exit makes him more nailed. Great fixtures.

Not Jags as I have Baines. Looks like Cresswell is the better choice.

Anyone else spectacularly mistiming aguero captaincy v main alternative?

    GW 9 aguero(c): 2 v pelle: 5
    Gw10 aguero(c): 8 v Sanchez 16
    GW11 aguero: 13 v pelle (c) 5
    GW12 aguero(c): 2 v Costa: 6
    GW12 aguero: 7 v Sanchez (c): 3

Cost myself 12 pts through not just sticking with aguero and 27 pts if I had picked correctly each time

In contrast this time last year I rotated aguero and Suarez captaincy 4 weeks in a row for about 150 pts

Not for me until you captain him!

Let say he scores. 6 points + 2 baps if you're lucky - 4 = only 4 pts gained total

Or you can play a defender that can get you around 1-8pt total and have Costa for Newcastle fresh whereas Rooney has Southampton

    Hello DZ.

    How is my squad looking?

The transfer I like to do now is Forster > Adrian. Following gameweek will upgrade Bertrand to Azpi after which I will have 2.5 million in bank.

Which of these attackers would you upgrade?

    1FT, 3 million in bank.

    Forster

    Sanchez Hazard Siggy Downing
    Aguero Bony Austin
