With a quick turnaround in fixtures, we take time out to assess the Premier League treatment rooms this evening and cast an eye over those players who picked up injuries over Saturday and Sunday’s fixtures.

Arsenal
Arsene Wenger’s injury troubles continue to mount as he lost both his left-backs to problems in the 1-0 win at West Brom. Nacho Monreal picked up an ankle knock before his replacement, Kieran Gibbs, suffered yet another issue. Wenger gave us an update on that pair, post-match, whilst also revealing that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has concerns over a knee injury ahead of the visit of Southampton on Wednesday…

“Gibbs struggled a little bit with an ankle problem and Monreal with a knee problem. Oxlade-Chamberlain also had a knee problem.”

Aston Villa
Paul Lambert’s defensive worries continued at the weekend. With Ron Vlaar, Philippe Senderos and Nathan Baker already sidelined through injury, the Villa boss is sweating on the fitness of Ciaran Clark after the centre-half was forced off during injury time of yesterday’s draw at Burnley.

Crystal Palace
Dwight Gayle was withdrawn just 21 minutes into the weekend draw at Swansea with a leg injury, though other sources also state he’s sustained a back problem. Gayle can be considered a doubt for Tuesday’s home clash with Villa, having started the last two league outings.

Hull City
Robbie Brady was replaced on 75 minutes of the Tigers’ loss at Old Trafford having sustained a knock, according to match reports.

Manchester City
City are sweating on the fitness of skipper Vincent Kompany after the defender suffered a hamstring injury in this afternoon’s win at Southampton. Post-match, Manuel Pellegrini – who also has Eliaquim Mangala suspended for the midweek trip to Sunderland – went on to say:

“We cannot know the situation at the moment. He has a problem with his hamstring. We will see with the doctor how important it is but at this moment, I cannot tell you exactly what he has. We will see.”

Man United
Angel Di Maria is almost certain to miss tomorrow’s home encounter with Stoke after being forced off just 13 minutes into the win over Hull with his own hamstring injury. Wayne Rooney is also nursing a calf complaint ahead of the Potters clash, though Louis van Gaal is a little more optimistic on his captain’s chances of being available:

“Angel shall be out for Stoke, I think. Wayne, I don’t know. He has already told me he wants to play against Stoke, but Rooney always says that. We will know in 48 hours..”

Newcastle United
The Magpies are sweating on the fitness of right-back Daryl Janmaat, who was forced off with a hamstring injury in the 1-0 loss at West Ham. Alan Pardew has also confirmed Rob Elliott will take his place between the sticks “for the next four or five games” due to Tim Krul’s ankle injury.

QPR
The R’s budget left-back Yun Suk-Young was replaced on 51 minutes of the 3-2 win over Leicester after sustaining a knee injury. Bobby Zamora missed out altogether with a slight back injury.

Southampton
Jack Cork was unavailable for today’s home loss to City due to illness, whilst Morgan Schneiderlin was forced off after sustaining a leg injury. After the match, Ronald Koeman rolled out an update on the midfield pair ahead of the midweek trip to Arsenal:

“He [Morgan] had an injury in his upper right leg, we have to wait, maybe we will know tomorrow [Monday] about if he will be okay for Wednesday. Jack I hope will be back, we need the players.”

Stoke City
Mark Hughes also has worries in central midfield ahead of the trip to Old Trafford. Steve Sidwell was withdrawn during the first half of yesterday’s loss at Liverpool with a knee problem, whilst replacement Glenn Whelan was subbed off at the break with a calf complaint. After the match, the Potters boss was pessimistic on both players’ chances of making it in time for the trip to United:

“We’ve got a game on Tuesday and it’s highly unlikely either will be available. Whether it was because he didn’t have an opportunity to warm up prior to coming on I don’t know, but he (Whelan) has pulled his calf unfortunately.”

Tottenham Hotspur
Vlad Chiriches limped out of this afternoon’s home win over Everton and was replaced by Erik Dier midway through the second period. Kyle Naughton is back from suspension for Wednesday’s trip to Stamford Bridge so the Spurs right-back situation is a little cloudy to say the least.

West Brom
The Baggies left-back Sebastien Pocognoli was forced off with a leg problem towards the end of yesterday’s home loss to Arsenal. Alan Irvine rolled out an update after the match:

“Seb has a dead leg, we think. He and Chris Brunt slid in at the same time and it seems he came off worse. All we can do now is assess him and see how he is. Dead legs can be a problem because you never know how quickly they will settle down.”

Not worth Costa to Rooney unless you have funds to bring him back. Use your 5th mid etc that's what they are there for.

    Here again DZ.

    How is my squad looking?

The transfer I like to do now is Forster > Adrian. Following gameweek will upgrade Bertrand to Azpi after which I will have 2.5 million in bank.

Which of these attackers would you upgrade?

    1FT, 3 million in bank.

    Forster
    Baines Naylor Chambers
    Sanchez Hazard Siggy Downing
    Aguero Bony Austin

    McCarthy Bertrand Hutton Boyd

I'd be worried with that Spurs double up right now.

I'd upgrade Chadli right now though, your backline's in good shape this week so no transfer needed in the back. If you end up spending less than 8.5 on a Chadli replacement, would look to upgrade as well soon, though not a priority for now IMO. Austin rings a bell.

Not sure if you're keen on dropping Costa though.

*Sherlock's right, you have an unplayable bench.
Perhaps, Costa to Rooney is a good move for you right now

Yes you know something's wrong when you find 2 Spurs attackers in your FPL team 😀

I'm thinking about doing Chadli to Downing and Cork to Jedinak next week to prepare for the hectic festive schedule. (Kane looks way more dangerous than Chadli, and can play in different positions)

Yep I definitely wouldn't drop Costa, even if he falls by 0.1 this GW he'll come back strong.

        Thanks for the feedback!

Does this appeal to anyone else as much as it does me?

    Heaton Foster
    Azpi Cresswell Naylor Hutton Yun
    Sanchez Hazard Sterling Mirallas Siggy
    Aguero Rooney Kane

Or could even go with Eriksen & Berahino rather than Sterling & Kane.

    Damn tempting.

Certainly good. I would argue that further down the track you may want to distribute the cash differently. If you spend more than necessary on the more budget players in your side you may regret it. I found that when I brought in Schneiderlin on my WC. That would have been better a cheaper player and had the money available to do other things further down the line

Kane @ 4.9 would surely be THE best bench fodder in the game even if his form drops off though. Could leave Downing in instead of bringing in Sterling though, you're right.

Indeed. 😆 But 352 is enticing. It's basically a case of whether Harry Kane continues to be nailed and look decent though.

    Aguero Austin

Krul (inj.) - Costa (susp.) Duff (inj.) Caulker

    2FTs, 1m ITB...

Looking to only use 1FT, but might be persuaded to use both for the right moves...

    A - Clyne > Cresswell/Azpi
    B - Clyne/Duff > Naylor
C - Costa > Rooney (losing 0.3m but more focused on points potential)

A & Azpi for sure, you need another go-to option in the back. Should clear any back line headaches for a while.

I'd do B next week if possible, no rush for now. With 2 FT's next week, you'll be in a good position to see if Costa is drop worthy for Rooney. This could leave you finds to upgrade Chadli.

All good moves though Zep, I'd personally get rid of Rooney this week though.

Might wait to see if Rooney starts then do...

            Clyne & Costa > Azpi & Rooney (2FTs)

That would leave me with enough money (and 0.1m leftover) to buy Costa back if I choose to...

0.1 in the bank 2 FT

going to transfer out ADM and Costa

    a) Hazard Bony
    b) Hazard Rooney
    c) Aguero Sigurdsson

should i save about 2 mil to upgrade one of my defenders to a chelsea defender or baines in next game week

    my roster is

    lloris begovic
    ashley williams creswell bertrand duff
    tadic downing ADM sanchez jedinak
    pelle costa sakho

I will ship out sakho next game week if he doesn't play this week as he looks unlikely.

Sit on Costa and get rid of Sakho imo

These first IMO, Sakho --> Austin for starters
      AdM out

Then I'd take out Pelle the following week.

Those are your priorities IMO, Tadic, Berty & the GK's can go after all that clears

Got a few problems for this coming GWK.

    Krul/Foster
    Chambers/Taylor/Mcshane/Yun/Dummett
    Sanchez/Di Maria/Sigurdsson/Boyd/Tadic
    Costa/Aguero/Austin

Krul, Di Maria both injured, Costa suspended, Yun doubtful and Mcshane won't play at all.

Probably looking at replacing Di Maria but nobody really stands out for me. Any recommendations? Have been debating a four point hit and getting Baines at the back too.

    Got 2.1M in the bank.

Hazard, Fabregas, Toure plenty of good options around the same value as ADM

    Kun, Rooney, Austin

    McCarthy, Chadli, Hutton, Clyne 0.1m

    B) pelle + tadic + Chadli to kane + mirralas + yaya (-4)

    C) sakho to ings/austen/ kane + alcaraz to swans/whu defender (bench chadli)

I'm suprised many aren't consideirng Hazard for the armband, he's at home to a weak tottenham defence and Costa isnt playing (more reliance on Hazard to score)

      Because Kun is:

      1. In great form
      2. More consistent points-wise
      3. Isn't playing a derby

      Thus, a safer option.
