It’s a short, sharp Scribbles we offer this morning as the tension ramps up ahead of tomorrow’s big kick-off. Aston Villa hope to bring back on old face in Thomas Hitzlsperger, while Roy Hodgson believes in Owen Hargreaves’ fitness. Alan Pardew offers an olive branch to Joey Barton and Tony Pulis is looking for six new players as Stoke square up to Europe. Here we go, folks:

Jose Enrique is set to sign a four-year deal with Liverpool today. Kenny Dalglish’s search for a left-back looks to now be over and with one year left on his Newcastle contract, Enrique’s transfer is thought to be around the region of £6m. More importantly, as far as Fantasy managers are concerned, Enrique is priced at just 5.0 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) and can be expected to see plenty investment on the back of this move.

Alex McLeish has been linked with a move for Thomas Hitzlsperger. The Villa boss admitted yesterday he would need to trade players before making any further acquisitions but with the German available on a free, a return to Villa Park may not be out of the question. As Big Eck went on to say:

“Thomas’ name has been mentioned against a number of other players. If it came to a choice, we’d have to think about everything if we were able to get that choice. Maybe in midfield, in terms of experience, we are a little bit lacking.”

Roy Hodgson has offered Owen Hargreaves a contract at West Brom. The ex-Man United midfielder has seemingly proved his fitness to the Baggies boss and is now mulling over a move to the Hawthorns. Hodgson’s take on the situation is:

Look, we’ve done the test, we agree with you that the knee’s OK and you can play football. And of course if you’d like to come and play for us that would be lovely. But whether or not our offer is going to be interesting to him, that’s what I don’t know.

Stoke are in the market for six new signings, according to Tony Pulis . Speaking this morning, the Potters boss admitted he was looking to strengthen the club’s options up front before the end of August. With a bid in for Peter Crouch as well as Spurs team mate Wilson Palacios, it looks like being a busy three weeks ahead on the transfer front.

Both Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri won’t feature tomorrow for Arsenal. The duo were left out of Arsenal’s squad for the trip to Newcastle by Arsene Wenger and their respective exits from the Emirates are edging closer by the day.

It looks like Joey Barton may still have a part to play at Newcastle, after all. Only a week or so ago, there seemed no way back for the midfielder after the twitter debacle that saw him criticise the club, but Alan Pardew is willing to offer him a chance if Barton can prove he’s willing to give his all:

Joey will determine whether he stays. I’ve told Joey that he won’t play for me and I won’t include him unless I think he’s pulling for us. If Joey turns around to me and says that’s what he’s going to do, then he will. He’s in the process of weighing up what he needs to do.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

I'm starting with Young. I'm most likely wrong but he offers so much potential. He is easily a better player than Nani with the right squad. (IMHO)

            2009/2010: Nani: 3 goals 10 assists 1585 minutes
            2009/2010; Young: 5 goals 11 assists 3300 minutes

            2010/2011: Nani: 9 goals 18 assists 2660 minutes
            2010/2011: Young: 7 goals 11 assists 3050 minutes

Young was the penalty taker and set piece hogger in an average team.

Nani was rotated on corners and freekicks. Only ever had one sniff at a penalty, that was Fulham away.

Nani played in a team full of world class players and still stole the show, whilst playing less minutes.

Finally, look at the CS. Whilst Young was in Richards back pocket for most the match, Nani went and scored 2 goals....

Making senseless and unfounded observations. Bravo.

Lol, nah thats not it mate. I like the fact that my other RMT's got ripped apart. made me rethink my team and helped with my understanding with regards to some aspects of the game.

I like the interaction on the site and the way most of the people here actually try to help each other out, there are a few bad apples but you figure out who they are and then simply ignore them.

Was funny on here last year towards the end I stupidly linked my team to my name and well I got a deserving slagging over my transfare policy as in I make far too many.

we have the exact same team so I obviously like it. was thinking of having Zamora for gw1 though and then using the banked cash to buy Drogba...

Aquilani could be one to watch this season at that price if he nails down the behind-the-striker role in a 4-2-3-1.

    or
    S Fletcher and Kuyt

Just made a few transfers and about to click on confirm transfers. Any other changes ye would suggest? Thinking of putting Ramsey into midfield but I cant think for whom?

    Kenny (Given)
    Kompany A.Cole R.Johnson (Bramble,Simpson)
    Malouda Nzogbia Silva Moses (Sinclair)
    Rooney Zamora Holt

Think Im gonna skip any Arsenal players until gw 4 anyway. Could get in Ramsey or Rvp then or might even WC.

Anyone got any thoughts on whether or not AJ will start? Trying to justify swapping him in for Zamora...

Missed a lot of pre-season prep. Apart from the obvious FFS leagues, any last man standing type leagues happening at the beginning of the season?
