We’re almost there. After three months, countless RMT’s (That’s Rate-My-Team for our new readers), a whole host of injury scares and the regular gamut of transfer talk, the season is now just hours away.

This means just one thing- it’s time for a host of the Fantasy Football Scout team to start off one last debate by sticking our necks on the line with predictions for the year to come. As evidenced by last year, our choices can range from the sublime to the ridiculous – let’s see how the cards fall for 2011/12…

I, Andy, kick things off by singling out teams and players I am not perhaps known for endorsing. Towing the party line, then, I’ve done everything I can to make my predictions as impartial as possible. Not believe me? Look- no Fernando Torres…

So there we have it, that’s how the Scouts see it; no need for any of this fantasy lark as we’re clearly going to be 100% correct. Remember this post at season’s end for all the good choices and forget it for those that end up down the garden path. Who are your choice picks for the 2011/12 season?

Alhabsi and Duff or Given and Sinclair??

I need some sort of Fulham cover for obviosu reasons.

    Currently

    Alhabsi (Ruddy)
    Kompany, Lescott, Bosingwa (orr, Caulker)
    Duff, Lamps, Nzog, Taarbt, Moses
    Bent, Drogba (Holt)

Ok, so my team is set although I'd like to trim 0.5m from somewhere to give me options for GW2 (like Nani-Malouda or Carroll -> Drogba.

    Given, Ruddy
    Kompany, Enrique, Hughes, (Orr), (Simpson)
    Nani, Silva, N'Zogbia, Moses, (Sinclair)
    RVP, Carroll, Zamora.

    Options - please vote!
    a) Hughes or Enrique -> Alcaraz/Brown
    b) Zamora -> Rodallega/Holt/DJ
    c) RVP -> Drogba
    d) something else (suggestions welcome!)

    Thanks

Amazing team by the way. I like Chelsea coverage so I'm leaving Cole in, but damn, that's a good team..

Hey Camzy, cheers for that. I was swaying for a) so that's helped my decision making! Question now is which 4.5m defender to go for...

Kompany, Enrique and Orr are decent enough, but Enrique may not start GW1, so might make sense to pick someone with a decent(ish) GW1. Alcaraz? Nailed on starter, great opening fixtures and occasional BPs. Otherwise it's probably Wes Brown/Bramble...

          Any ideas?

      (d) Sinclair to Surman.

In fact if you do that AND Zamora to DJ, should you so choose, you could afford to upgrade Hughes to A Cole and still have cash in the bank for GW2 trade.

Locked on Norwich midfielder, scored a few preseason, (check out the preseason write up on this site). To be honest, there is not too much upside from a 4.5 mid but at the same time who would you bench over the next few weeks in order to play Sinclair?

Fair point. I had planned on benching Moses GW2 and maybe Zamora or Moses again in GW3. Their fixtures aren't that bad though so keeping Surman on the bench would give me 1.5m to play with....Hmmm, you have me thinking....

      I imagine it will be:

      Song
      Ramsey Rosicky
      Walcott Gervinho
      RVP

Arshavin instead of Walcott maybe, but that'll be the midfield three I reckon.

    RVP,Carroll

    Bench: Given, Simpson, Gabbidon, Ranger

I still have an extra million in the bank. I plan on putting Drogba in for Carroll next week.

Depends on test of team of say. If u have nano, go for rvp; I don't and I'm going for Rooney. Don't think Kelly will be a regular from the start - JE a good prospect for the season I'd say.

WBA usually plays well against stronger teams. Newcastle and Arsenal are in the process of changing their identities. Personally, I think Newcastle's defense is shaky without Enrique and Barton so I think RVP is your best bet for GW1. But that's just me... I have neither in my team.

He should, shouldn't he? If SAF goes 442, it's got to be Berba with Wayne, no?

No, it'll most likely be Welbeck.

Hmm - really? Wellbeck looked very good: pacy, making the right runs. But can he score? Guess that Berba can score coming off the bench - he's done it enough. But he wont' be very happy sitting on the bench to start the season...

Spent ages on my team, any obvious mistakes?

    Al-Habsi (Given)
Cole Hughes Kompany (Jose Enrique Simpson)
    Brunt Malouda Moses Cabaye (Jarvis)
    Rodallega RVP Bent

Cole will change to Baines after GW1
Rodallega will change to Odemwingie after GW3

Team is good, but why take out Cole after GW1 when he has two nice home fixtures?

Unless Chelsea start with a 'mare I'd say cole is for keeps.

Changing Cole to Baines because everyone is buying Baines after GW1 so there's gonna be a price rise and I think Baines will outperform Cole

Your midfield looks a little weak. Maybe change Brunt, Cabaye, Jarvis and Rodallega to O'Hara, Sinclair, Sessegnon and Holt or DJ Campbell.

Was tempted but I can see Rodallega doing well with his first three fixtures which is essentially what he's in for

You must have money left over from this right? Not a fan of some of the midfield, Rodallega I'm not too sure of either!

Got 1 Mil leftover but using that for changing players
        Cole > Baines
        Bent > Suarez
        Rodallega > Odemwingie
