We’re almost there. After three months, countless RMT’s (That’s Rate-My-Team for our new readers), a whole host of injury scares and the regular gamut of transfer talk, the season is now just hours away.

This means just one thing- it’s time for a host of the Fantasy Football Scout team to start off one last debate by sticking our necks on the line with predictions for the year to come. As evidenced by last year, our choices can range from the sublime to the ridiculous – let’s see how the cards fall for 2011/12…

I, Andy, kick things off by singling out teams and players I am not perhaps known for endorsing. Towing the party line, then, I’ve done everything I can to make my predictions as impartial as possible. Not believe me? Look- no Fernando Torres…

So there we have it, that’s how the Scouts see it; no need for any of this fantasy lark as we’re clearly going to be 100% correct. Remember this post at season’s end for all the good choices and forget it for those that end up down the garden path. Who are your choice picks for the 2011/12 season?

It's making me a little less comfortable on keeping Silva in, even if they both play most games you'd imagine influence would be split slightly more between them.

I still think I'll keep Silva in for the start of the season all the same.

There'll be rotation, simply because of the number of quality players vying for places up top, but I'd say the first choice team will be (may be completely wrong though):

      ---Keeper and Defence---
      ----De Jong -- Yaya ----
      Nasri -- Aguero -- Silva
      ---------Tevez----------

With Nasri, Aguero and Silva all swapping about with each other.

Given (where the hell is vorm?)

    Cole, Kompany, Orr

    Malouda, Silva, Taarabt, Moses

    RVP, Carroll, Zamora

    (Dyer, Simpson, Tate)

    this is my no-utd team

is it worth putting nani in for taarabt at the expensive of downgrading zamora to holt, given to al habsi, and cole to lescott?

worried about having holt/moses/dyer all on same team. the non nani squad front 8 all have good enough fixtures where i can bench dyer every week and plan transfers like carroll->bent GW2. plus no-nani team leaves with .5 left over to upgrade maybe silva to a 10 mil mid, cole to baines, or the .5 i will need to upgrade zamora to odemwingie in a couple weeks.

RVP is out for me. not to be over-dramatic, but I can't remember the last time they played without Nasri AND Fabregas, and theyr'e undeniably important to the squad.

It's a shame, as I see them dominating Newcastle.

but every time Arsenal score, it has to be something to do with RVP, there's not too many more options!!

Gervino maybe. I do agree with you, but I have 3 difficult fixtures to work out how they're going to perform.

Neither nasri or fab have been important to Arsenal since January. Hence their slide...but during that slide RVP mopped up. Arshavin, rosicky, Ramsey...it doesn't matter who it is will thread the balls through to the front man. The arsenal way is nice passing attacking play. Without RVP they have a problem scoring, but without Nasri and Fab or with Nasri and Fab i see no difference in RVPs returns. He plays he scores. simple

Jonty, with real respect, I'm going to have to disagree with you. One of the beautiful things about van Persie is that, like another of my favourite forwards, he is prepared to get involved in play all over the front. Imo, without those two AND Wilshere, he is going to be too busy. That's only my take, though ...

I agree with Jonty, he will still see plenty O ball, no matter who lines up in the midfield, Arsenal, as we all know only play one way. On the deck up to the front men.

VP will score tomorrow, I see ramsey getting a look in as well.

It is against the top teams where VP may suffer a little as he may have to get a bit deeper to get more involved, pass it wide and then get back in the box. Bit like rooney sometimes, which may affect his goals.

If he is fit, he will score. First ten games = 10 goals

He's been registered so yes, he can play.

Whether he starts I don't know. He might be able to squeeze in a training session, but it may well be Kelly who starts there tomorrow.

I'm starting him but keeping R Johnson as a sub
