We’re almost there. After three months, countless RMT’s (That’s Rate-My-Team for our new readers), a whole host of injury scares and the regular gamut of transfer talk, the season is now just hours away.

This means just one thing- it’s time for a host of the Fantasy Football Scout team to start off one last debate by sticking our necks on the line with predictions for the year to come. As evidenced by last year, our choices can range from the sublime to the ridiculous – let’s see how the cards fall for 2011/12…

I, Andy, kick things off by singling out teams and players I am not perhaps known for endorsing. Towing the party line, then, I’ve done everything I can to make my predictions as impartial as possible. Not believe me? Look- no Fernando Torres…

One potential final tweak being considered - perhaps someone can help?

    Given, Ruddy
Cole, Kompany, Simpson, Orr, N Taylor
    Nani, Silva, Taarabt, Sinclair, Moses
    RVP, Carroll, Holt
    Bank 1.0m

This gives me 1.0m to use in GW2, so either Carroll -> Drogba/Torres, Taarabt-> N'Zogbia or Silva/Nani -> Malouda. The alternative is to upgrade one of the 4.0m defenders (probably N Taylor) to Wes Brown and only have 0.5m in the bank. Result = slightly better defence but GW2 transfers are limited to Carroll -> Drogs.

    Original or Alternative option best?

I just thought of an alternative.

N Taylor -> Enrique, 0 in the bank and then Carroll -> Bent in GW2. BOOM!

Haha, Wigan bidding for Odemwingie, do they seriously think he would go there? I do have a small feeling he will go, but not to Wigan. His contract negotiations have been going on for months and nothing has been agreed plus we did seem to rush Shane Long in, as in we were making sure we 100% wouldn't miss out on him.

What do people think of my strategy..
    1) Managed to get 7 penalty takers in my team
    2. 5 free-kick specialists

Dependent on form or injuries will remove one of Van Persie, Rooney or Lampard, to create more money for transfers as I go.

Team for GW1 - with defenders rotating other weeks.

    Al Habsi - Ruddy
Lescott - Hangeland - Gabbiddon ( Jose Enrique, Brown)
Lampard - Taarabt - Moses - Cabaye (Sinclair)
Van Persie - Rooney - Holt

The adrenaline is starting to flow now. The more gambles I take on players starting tomorrow the better my team looks... I'd better calm down.

Can anyone help me with the Enrique question? If he starts on the bench how likely do you think he is to get some game time at the end? I'm tempted to play him and trust the auto-sub but my less impulsive side is telling me he's sure to get at least some game time and I'll be stuck with one point.

    What do you reckon?

he will start - he has a full pre-season behind him

auerelio has 45 mins of pre-season behind him

Kenny would rather enrique debuted at home against sunderland than away to arsenal

I'm also buzzed about the new season starting. I want to sleep until 3 tommorow 🙁

Enrique for tommorow is a no-go.

I guess what I'm really asking is is there any chance of him playing zero minutes? I definitely have him and would like to start him, but I'm worried KD will give him 10 mins at the end.

I'd stay away from Enrique until gw2 (fixture-wise until gw 3). His price could start to go up so it may help to bring him in now if you have a strong bench.

Go for it mate, i have 4 liverpool players myself since i got him in as a newcastle player. i dont see why Dalglish wouldnt play him,he isnt new to the prem and its against sunderland (as an ex newcastle player, albeit foreign) im sure he will be up for the game 🙂

can only have 3 players from any 1 team.....rules say the next free transfer you get you have to get rid of one. Id do it now or you ll have to change 1 for definate after first game.

Not the case. You can play all four until you make your first transfer. There's no obligation to do it after the first game.

Yes your right but the point i wanted to tell him was it still leaves you no choice as your very next transfer has to be one from that team.Im sure he will transfer at least once in the season.....maybe twice in one week like i usually do!!! 🙁

Hi guys. Would appreciate some comments on my team:

    Given (Ruddy)
    A. Cole -- Hughes -- Kompany
    Silva (vc) -- Malouda -- Moses -- N'Zogbia
    Drogba (c) -- Carroll -- Holt

    Subs: 1. Taarabt 2. Gabbidon 3. Simpson

Thoughts? Should I make Silva captain over Drogba?

Finally set my team. Not changing it regardless of what Weekly Scout Picks say. I've got attacking coverage from last year's top four clubs, plus Liverpool. Only three promoted players. A defense that combines clean sheet hopefuls with the odd assist or goal. And a generic non-differential goalkeeping combo.

I'm just so relieved to have a team I am happy with I had to tell somebody.

Yeah think im pretty set now too, i have all those things but only 2 promoted players. Dont like risking them. Could be a Derby or a Blackpool no one knows. I feel like resisting Silva is my greatest strength!

I'm playing this one close to the vest, so the only thing I'll say is I only have one player on my squad that I know who is on penalties. I guess that was the comprise I had to make.

NZog and RVP is definitely the least risky choice medium term. I also happen to think it's the best. Bent is overpriced in my thoroughly amateur opinion.
