We’re almost there. After three months, countless RMT’s (That’s Rate-My-Team for our new readers), a whole host of injury scares and the regular gamut of transfer talk, the season is now just hours away.

This means just one thing- it’s time for a host of the Fantasy Football Scout team to start off one last debate by sticking our necks on the line with predictions for the year to come. As evidenced by last year, our choices can range from the sublime to the ridiculous – let’s see how the cards fall for 2011/12…

I, Andy, kick things off by singling out teams and players I am not perhaps known for endorsing. Towing the party line, then, I’ve done everything I can to make my predictions as impartial as possible. Not believe me? Look- no Fernando Torres…

Last minute confusion, indecision and nerves setting in. 🙂

Do I go 2 or 3 big(ish) guns up top (been 2 all preseason):

    A) RVP - Suarez - N'Zogbia - Sinclair

    B) Holt - Carroll - Nani - Silva

    What do you think?

I think people should be looking at Arshavin. He might just do excellently with Nasri and Fabregas out. Tough call at 9.0 but he's deadly and I think his lack of form at the end of last season was a hiccup.

Seems like some people are going for offence rather than defence. Understandable, I know. But pick your defenders right and that's a guaranteed 6 points for CS's.

you're kind of saying 'pick the players who will score points in a given week and you will definitely do well'...

          remember lolarov.

Cheers mate and yes Riise will start every game by the sound of the managers comments and he rates Riise very highly, as do i.

Looking at Liverpool's other leftbacks and their minutes last season, enrique will play. Anyway i ended up changing...

          Given
          Kompany Lescott Enrique
          N'zogbia Taarabt Moses Malouda
          Rooney(c) Zamora Carroll

          Ruddy, Riise, Obertan, Simpson

Looks stronger. N'zog will get more points than downing probs, and enrique and riise can rotate 🙂 Maybe huth in for kompany after stokes horrible beginning fixtures

I suppose that Hughes is Fulhams Hughes?
I'm not a big fan of having Def and Keeper of the same club starting. Have better chances of getting more points having another strong defender from another defensively strong club.

Who's the biggest diving £$%£$%le in the league? I know the most goals from free kicks last year was chelsea and wigan and brum, but who took the tumbles and got the assists?

With Young being the most fouled player, I'm starting to consider him over nani (who's confidence will plummet the minute valencia can stand)

Yes Ramsey, 6.5, all his competition for places is going or injured and he scores goals.

As annoying as they are, I don’t feel it would be right not to post a RMT before the season starts, so here it is..

    Given (Ruddy)
Enrique Kompany Hughes (De Laet Simpson)
    Malouda Taarabt Nzogs Moses Silva
    Rooney Carrol (DJ)

Thoughts and criticisms would be very much appreciated, cheers.

Anyone going for the short term three week blitz followed by a wildcard strategy? So far I've got:

    Given, Ruddy
    Hughes, Young, Figueroa, Givet, Berra
    Malouda, Silva, Moses, Albrighton, Tiote
    Rooney, Drogba, Balotelli

The "logic" (using that word loosely) was that there's no point buying expensive defenders if they're only going to be in the team for a few weeks, so I've just picked based on fixtures then I'll wildcard at the end of week 3 and pick a more sensible team.

When do you guys usually use your wildcard?

I usually do it after game 5, just as the league settles down a bit.

    Last to do

    Kompany & Bent
    Or
Lescott & Berbatov (the one people seem to forget was top scorer last year)
