Fantasy managers are on red alert this evening after Sergio Aguero was forced off after just six minutes of City’s 1-0 home win over Everton. Clearly distraught, the Argentine left the pitch in tears amid fears he’s set to spend a spell on the sidelines and post-match, Manuel Pellegrini could offer little to reassure us.

When quizzed on his star striker’s injury, the City boss could only offer:

“Sergio has a knee ligament problem and we will see tomorrow how serious it is. It is not good news and we will see tomorrow when he [visits the doctor] but he won’t be able to play next week. We must wait for the doctor to see how [bad it is] but the important thing is he won’t be fit for the Roma game. We will see tomorrow, but at the moment, we’re not sure [about the length of the injury].”

City travel to Roma on Wednesday in the Champions League and we can certainly expect an early-week prognosis from Pellegrini, affording us time to re-assess our three-man frontlines ahead of the weekend.

Clearly, if Aguero has indeed suffered ligament damage, our worst fears will be realised and could force him out of contention for some time. The South American has lit up the Premier League with 14 goals and three assists and proven the most reliable captaincy contender around – with a goal or assist in 10 of his 15 appearances, Aguero’s explosive potential has seen him serve up hauls of 19, 13 and 16 points in the last eight Gameweeks.

In spite of his displays for Chelsea, Diego Costa, by comparison, has produced a top score of seven points from Gameweek 5 onwards. Whilst the Blues striker is the obvious alternative if Aguero is ruled out, his inability to earn bonus makes him a less appealing captaincy contender. Indeed, with the likes of Alexis Sanchez suffering since moving out wide and Eden Hazard yet to score away from home, Aguero’s possible absence would make the armband conundrum that little bit more difficult in any given Gameweek, as our heavy-hitters struggle for consistency.

Up front, Aguero’s withdrawal came on a day that eight of 14 teams failed to find the net – underlying the paucity of options for our three-man frontlines right now. Charlie Austin’s fine form continued only for the R’s frontman to be sent off against Burnley, leaving the likes of Wilfried Bony, Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie the chance to stake a claim for consideration over the next couple of days’ action. Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic could prove unlikely heroes for City but bearing in mind that Aguero has played a part in 65% of his side’s goals when on the pitch this season, the pair have big shoes to fill.

Perhaps we shouldn’t get too ahead of ourselves but Aguero’s previous when it comes to injuries has many owners understandably on edge. Given that City now face Leicester, Palace, West Brom, Burnley and Sunderland in successive matches, we’ll hold fire for now in the hope that Pellegrini’s initial prognosis was wide of the mark but exit plans will be tentatively penciled in as we eagerly await the next update.

What do you think the average hit will be in the top 10k this week?

Not taking a hit is a legit strategy knowing you'd be 4 or 8 points ahead of quite a few.

But then also an argument for taking a hit knowing it won't set you back as much as a random GW with less injuries/suspensions.

    Thoughts?

Not taking a hit but will use at least one of my transfers.

I am seriously considering this as team value now becomes an irrelevance especially if you have aguero cash to splash around.

All the possible changes I would like to make would cost me -8. I am not sure the transfers would justify it. I will have enough fit players if I make my one pre planned transfer

Just finished watching MOTD and from what I can tell, Kane is almost nonexistent.

Anyone watched Spurs vs Palace match today?

How exactly was his performance today?

I think I'd rather get Bojan if I was going for that kind of budget. Although I have considered Kane.

Everybody dropped Stoke after their early "easy fixtures"...oddly it's only since then that they have had some great picks, Walters being the chief amongst them, but I think it's all connected to the introduction of Bojan more than anything to do with the fixtures.

He was really, really bad. Worst performance from him in a start in his most recent run. Spurs in general were woeful and he does not play well with Soldado. But then again, nobody can play well with Soldado.

True, Soldado cant even put a shot on target. So much for being a poacher.

Soldado is so bad it is just beyond me how he keeps getting starts. Words fail to describe how bad he was today. his finishing is not even of a centerbacks...it probably would be more like a goalkeepers ability. I would love to know if Levy is just mandating to Poch he has to play so he can try and regain value to try and get rid of him or what.

I am just annoyed that I got Kane and eriksen last week because of fixtures and I thought they were hitting form

He looked tired to be honest, was more present and involved in the first half but faded badly and disappeared in the second. He's probably not used to playing so frequently.

I bought Kane this week and I watched Spurs because of that for about 60 minutes.
Poch is an idiot. He played him in the hole. He was always wrongly positioned. Far away from goal every time they make something happen.

Yea, I hope Poch finally realize how shitty Soldado is and bench him, and play Kane upfront, where he belongs.

Repost. What would you do with this lot? Two free transfers and 0.6 in the bank. Don't mind taking a couple of hits to get it sorted if I need to. Although I'm wondering if I can get by just replacing Chambers and benching Fabregas, Austin and Aguero. With Debuchy back Chambers' place could have been in doubt anyway. Obviously Aguero's a yellow flag so I'll hold off till we know more about him.

    De Gea, Myhill
    Azpilicueta, Baines, Chambers, Hutton, Wisdom
    Fabregas, Sanchez, Downing, Boyd, Sigurdsson
    Aguero, Costa, Austin

I think you can get by just as you said. If/when Aguero's confirmed out, then replace him and use the moneys to upgrade Chambers?

Chambers -> Taylor is not worth a -4, right?

I can just play Hutton (wba) but then I would have no subs (assuming Moore doesn't start against City).

This is the thinking I'm talking about. The amount spent on him always sitting in the back/front of our minds, influencing us heavily. If cash was taken out of it, would you bench him, thinking logically?

    Gone to

    Costa / Benteke / Dzeko.

    Sanchez / Hazard / Siggy / Downing / Bolasie

    Baines / Hutton / Ivanovich / Yun

All for a -8 today - too scared to loose money and not afford Dzeko etc. All done.

    What could go wrong? 🙂

I may well get stung - but had Austin and Aguero. Scared to loose cash and not get the ones I want in so... but yeah I've been hurt doing early transfers before...

So how do we feel about getting Coleman in for a double up with Baines until the wild card?

Could be a good use of funds w/o the big guns up top.
I'd consider it, & I'd consider even more if Mirallas sprains his ankle 😉

If Aguero is out, then which would you do:

    (A) Aguero and Kane to Rooney and Dzeko
    (B) Aguero and Oscar to Rooney and Yaya
