After taking a look at those teams with Strong fixtures to follow over the next four-to-six Gameweeks, we now assess those with tougher upcoming schedules. North east pair Sunderland and Newcastle face some testing times, whilst bottom two Burnley and Leicester also have little reason for festive cheer.

Newcastle

“frisking

The Magpies proved their mettle by putting an end to Chelsea’s unbeaten run last Saturday, but must now navigate a horrendous next six if they are to further their cause. Alan Pardew’s men face a tricky encounter with Everton at St James’ Park, as well as three of the toughest away trips around as they make their way to Arsenal, United and Chelsea.

With injury and suspension hitting hard, the Magpies are likely to struggle to rediscover the defensive resilience shown between Gameweeks 8-12 anytime soon, meaning that Daryl Janmaat will need to rely on his attacking raids down the right to earn his owners further returns. Further forward, those eyeing up striker Papiss Cisse after his weekend brace are advised to hold off for now whilst his minutes, and the schedule, look uncertain.

Southampton

“frisking

The Saints are struggling under the strain of expectation after their early season form, and the load could yet increase across the Christmas period. A trip to Burnley is next on the agenda and will at least afford them some respite, but beyond that things still looks unmistakably bleak – Everton, Chelsea and Arsenal make their way to St Mary’s in their next three home encounters, with a visit to Old Trafford lying in wait beyond that.

Without a clean sheet in their last four, owners of Ryan Bertrand and Nathaniel Clyne will have been weighing up an exit route, and that strategy is unlikely to change bearing in mind their imminent schedule. Graziano Pelle, meanwhile, found his scoring boots for the first time in seven appearances against United on Monday, but that return to form could be quickly curtailed, and the Italian will still be hard-tasked to reclaim the plethora of owners he has lost over recent weeks.

Stoke

“frisking

Saturday’s triumphant win over Arsenal brought a three-match losing streak to a close for the Potters, and a trip to Crystal Palace this weekend will offer them a chance to build momentum. That is sure to come in handy, however, as the fixtures then take a severe turn for the worse for Mark Hughes’ side, who meet Chelsea and Everton in their next two and also face consecutive match-ups with United and Arsenal in Gameweeks 20 and 21.

It would be fair to say that Bojan has finally found his feet at the Brittania, and the former Barcelona starlet – alongside fellow striker Peter Crouch – turned in a great advertisement for their budget forward services against the Gunners. However, both are now sure to be tested against some of the league’s tightest defences in the coming weeks, whilst the chances of the Potters’ own rearguard managing their first shutout since Gameweek 6 looks doubtful. Jon Walters’ recent renaissance – with three goals in four – may struggle to continue over that spell.

Also Be Wary Of…

Arsenal
The Gunners may have underlined their potential in last night’s mauling of Galatasaray, but managers should be cautious before jumping on board without a look at their next five fixtures, which contain three tricky away encounters at Liverpool, West Ham and Southampton. Owners of the suspended Calum Chambers will be even more tempted by the idea of getting rid of the young defender as Mathieu Debuchy returns to action, whilst the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Aaron Ramsey and Danny Welbeck will have to be at their best for the Gunners to prosper over the festive spell.

Burnley
A 2-0 loss to QPR will have come as a bitter blow to Sean Dyche’s men, who had finally strung together a series of results prior to Saturday’s bottom of the table scrap. A potentially spirit-wrecking next four now awaits the Clarets, who visit Spurs and Man City on either side of home clashes with Southampton and Liverpool. With Christmas rotation on the cards, owners of George Boyd may be forced to call upon his services across those fixtures, though he is likely to struggle to replicate his timely Gameweek 14 strike. Up top, Danny Ings has fetched returns in three of his last four outings but his worth as a budget asset looks set for a stiff test.

Leicester
The Foxes are without a win since Gameweek 5, and their chances of turning that dire form around look slim over the upcoming schedule. Nigel Pearson’s side face a trip to West Ham sandwiched in between two home meetings with Man City and Spurs in their next three, and whilst Leonardo Ulloa has showed glimpses of his early season with a goal and two assists in his last three, the striker – who is expected to recover from a calf knock – will have his work cut out to maintain that form in the lead up to Christmas.

dzeko was my main target before seeing the game against roma.

not anymore. sorry, but he was horrendous. looked lost out there.

however, fair play to those brave enough to take the punt.

Silva yaya kompany all missing. Just back from injury too. I would at least wait until lei game to give a fair judgement. And given the fixtures he does not have to play like aguero to score points

They are still playing EPL teams. Don't expect 4-0 to City every game. I think City might struggle a bit this weekend

I dont expect a 4-0 too. But he shld get a few goals out of those fixtures i think. U dun need a 4-0 to consider dzeko..in fact not much teams score 4 goals every game

Yep I took a last minute call and went for lukaku.

Will give dzeko another game to find form and see how they set up this weekend before making a call to get him, jovetic, toure, silva or nasri next week

        hey buddy.

dzeko was terrible, nasri was awesome.

costa was decent, but still looked out of sorts. played well for the team though, linking up attacks, etc. can he play 3x in the span of a week?

I already got lukaku in for aguero.

will shift obertan (lol) or chambers for a hit as my next move.

Considering this -4 hit this week:
    Aguero out, Sakho in
    Boyd out, YYT in

However, this leaves me with double Swansea & West Ham attack, a light forward line &
    double Villa defence.

    Guzan (Elliott)
    Baines, Ivanovic, Hutton (Moore, Chambers)
YYT, Sanchez, Hazard (c), Siggy, Downing
    Bony, Sakho (Austin)

Thoughts appreciated & thanks in advance.

Cheers ADN but I'm just not seeing any upside with Costa atm. I'm very uneasy having double WHU as well. I might actuall go:

buy Lukaku instead of Sahko & sell Siggy instead of Boyd. That will solve my double dilemma.

Add on to previous post about Dzeko's contribution with/without Aguero and/or Silva, now over the past 3 seasons. Compare with previous post if you need to.

    Dzeko + .....

Without Aguero, With Silva - 10 goals, 5 assists in 20 games

Without Aguero, Without Silva - 2 goals, 0 assists in 5 games

With Aguero, With Silva (Dzeko with more than 45min) - 21 goals, 13 assists in 34 games

With Aguero, Without Silva (Dzeko with more than 45min) - 1 goals, 0 assists in 3 games

The sample size for Dzeko WITHOUT Silva is still too small...guess we can conclude that they're fated to play together more often than not.

watching tv in the UAE, i really don't get local sensors (mispelled intentionally)

scene in 1980s Working Girl where Harrison Ford and Meg Ryan (tastefully as I recall) kiss and make off to the bedroom got censored out

but women in skimpy tight shear clothing showing camels and such seems to be fine

as, of course, is all the tasteless violence of crime shows

Wenger has essentially suggested Welbeck and him are going to rotate (probably so Giroud doesn't complain about being "tired" like last year).

And then there's fitting Wally back in (but he's probably not going to get a start until the New Year at this point as he's only due back for Boxing Day)

(was in Say What column I think)

      1. Heels_Over_Head
        • 12 Years
        11 years, 10 days ago

this is from the column, Wenger:

“Danny [Welbeck] has played a lot, he had a little groin problem. He could have played. I rotated a little bit because I wanted to give him a breather. I had to respond at half-time unfortunately and it looked like he was alright. We have three or four strikers from game to game and not everybody can play. As Alexis has played every game, he has to dig deep in every game. At some stage you have to rest the players.”

wish i had kept him instead of selling him on my WC. Such great value as i got him at 5.0 too

I got him at 5.0 but sold him at 5.4 before the City game.
I'm not regretting at all since he would have got me 1, 2, 1 if I had kept..
At later stage of the season I might bring Bertrand for less coins 🙂

What would you do if you had a spare FT and 2.0itb (Elliot 2nd GK)

    A) Fabianski >Hart

    B) Elliot >Pantilimon (rotates well with Fabianski the rest of the season)

i haven't no. The fact that I've got money to spend makes me hesitant not to go for Hart. I can easily get Fab+Pantilimon in the Jan WC too so its really only based on the next 8 gw's

A until Jan. Then B when you use your WC (assuming both teams are doing well defensively)

Yeah that would be pretty smart. Its risky only having 1 playing GK though when winter is upon us...

I've had Begovic-Krul and Fab-Elliot for two weeks.

Believe it or not, I've actually scored worse by rotating than if I had just played Begovic all along 😀

I was considering exactly these options and went with A after a few polls on here over the last few days. Happy with my decision until WC at least

Yeah it seems smart to go with Hart due to those fixtures, and its only 0.5 more expensive an option... but Panti and Fabianski will be 0.2-0.4 more expensive on the WC though which will be annoying, and they too have good fixtures. Hmm

    A) Ivanovic & Silva

    or

    B) Zabaleta & Fabregas

Already have Hazard, Costa, Fabregas, Dzeko & Clichy. Thinking to swap Fabregas for Silva this GW then Chambers for Ivanovic next GW or swapping Chambers for Zabaleta this GW then have free xfer next GW, so swaying towards B

    Guzan
    Clyne - Azpilicueta - Jagielka - Kelly
    Hazard - Sanchez - Downing - Siggy
    Costa - Dzeko

    Gilks -- Marney - Dummett - Austin

How do you create those tables in the members section where you compare multiple players performances between 2 time periods and the increase/decrease output is in % terms?
