This week’s ScoutCast is a throwback – a return to the days when Granville moaned about his team of red flags and names like Robin van Persie and Yaya Toure dominated our thinking.

Granville and I slip into such subject matter like it’s a pair of old slippers, whilst assessing the Aguero fall-out, the Dzeko option, Ivanovic versus “Dave” Azpi and how I’ve modelled my Fantasy Football management style on Roy Hodgson.

We roll out the regulars and lament the demise of the ScoutCast team – eliminated in the opening round of our own cup competition. Some things never change.

Swim in nostalgia via this link or roll back the years via the player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Is Dzeko really worth it?

I think so. Owning Dzeko at the right time last season helped me win my mini league last season.

Maybe not this week. But you have to figure that he will be involved in the goals once he is fully fit.
I may bring him in for gw17 (replacing Berahino) depending on what happens on the weekend.

No, Dzeko is probably not worth it.

Yes, I have just transferred him in. At least I have low expectations.

I not only broke the cardinal fpl sin. I picked up the sin and smashed it into little pieces.

I took an 8 point hit to bring defenders in (and I am still in the cup!)

Taking hits for defenders should not be viewed as a 1 game..it will benefit u long term so i do not see anything wrong.

That was my thinking. Yun and Wasilewski (both would have played this week) to Baines & Clichy.

gd timing to get them in as both have a decent chance to recoup some of the lost points and u have a better line up next week

Thanks. I think jt gives me quite a strong squad..

            Foster
Baines - Clichy - Chambers (I know he is out this week)
            Hazard - Siggy - Sanchez - Yaya
Costa - Dzeko - Austin (ditto Chambers)

            Myhill - Boyd - Hutton - Bartley

Like you said. A good long term pair of transfers...

is silva expected to start tomorrow? do these make sense for a double hit?

A tad early for Silva I would have thought. Can you get away with Kun > Costa this week and the other 2 transfers next week"

      1. SpaceCadet
        • 12 Years
        11 years, 8 days ago

would have to play dummet and have a bench of Austin, chambers and moore.

Maybe kun > costa and chambers > zaba for a hit?

        1. Demel
          • 14 Years
          11 years, 8 days ago

That would work. As someone who took a hit to bring in Clichy this week my concern for Zab would be the same ..beware the back up City full back.

            courtois
            baines cresswell dummet
            siggy downing haz sanchez chadli
            benteke costa

            subs myhill moore chambers austin

              • 14 Years
              11 years, 8 days ago

With Dummet likely to score zero points and Chadli quite possibly not getting playing tine (along with Moore) I don't think you have much to lose with a good double hit. With some cash in the bank you could go for the Moore and Chambers > Clichy and Azpi or Debuchy upgrade. Then bench Chadli and Dummet.

                best option of the lot?

                a. moore and chambers > zaba and hutton
                b. chambers and chadli > zaba and mirralas
                c. chambers and chadli > hutton and ramsey

                  11 years, 8 days ago

I like A. C is an interesting differential punt but A looks best to me.However, I don't think I would take a points hit on Hutton. I would just go for the Zab transfer this week for a hit and leave the Hutton one until next week.

    My team:

    Foster, Mannone
    Clyne, Moreno, Hutton, Duff, Naylor
    Fabz, Siggy, Sanchez, Jedinak, Eriksen
    Aguero, Austin, Benteke

    Leading ML by about 60.

    1 FT, 3.0 in bank

Was thinking Fabz-->Haz and Aguero --> Dzeko but wanted another opinion or two.

What do you guys think? Thanks!

As someone who owns both I would probably go for Sanchez. But if you are trying to climb leagues then Yaya is a good bet. The 4 yellow cards is a concern but that partly depends how strong your bench is.

    1. Demel
      • 14 Years
      11 years, 8 days ago

Neither sound great. If it is a 5th midfielder then I would go Boyd. If it is a 4th midfielder then I think you need to downgrade somewhere else to find the cash for an upgrade.

I found this scout article from four years ago.

'' Firstly, the keen eyed amongst you will have noticed a certain Elfozzie making the odd comment post over the past few months. This shady character has been in the background after coming on board in the Summer, during which time he helped me out with some of his hard-earned, and basically supported me to create and launch the Members area. Elfozzie is the Scout’s Business guy – responsible for helping me to turn this site into something other than a pleasurable time sink that gets me into trouble with my girlfriend and destroys my social life. Elfozzie will be to blame if I’m still here doing this in a couple of years. ''

So, how many of you know this Elfozzie guy? He is my opponent in the cup.

Am I right in saying that even if hazard assists a goal for costa, he might get more bonus points?

How can you take a 8 pt hit and not change one of your keepers?! I was in your spot and did flappy>hart. 4.0>panti also works. I'd still do it if i was you

    Hey guys

    I need your advice.

    My team is

    Begovic
Baines / Yun / Clyne (Chambers / Moore)
    Fabregas / Hazard / Siggurdson / Sanchez / Boyd
    Bony / Aguero (Austin)

    I am between
    A. Aguero, Fabregas -> Costa, Yaya Toure (FTs)
    B. Aguero, Fabregas, Chambers -> Dzeko, Yaya Toure, Ivanovic (-4pts)
    C. Aguero, Fabregas, Boyd -> Dzeko, Yaya Toure, Mirallas (-4pts)

    What do you say?

    Thanks

      1) Keep Fabregas, play Boyd.
      2) Aguero -> Dzeko as Chelsea's fixtures go south after this week
      3) Chambers -> Ivan. Not my first choice, but yours, and its your team.

      Your lineup this week:

      Bego
      Baines Yun Clyne Ivan
      Hazard Sanchez Siggy Boyd
      Bony Dzeko

Thanks a lot. What would be your first choice? I don't think that City will keep a Clean sheet this weekend. I was planning on getting Zabaleta next week for Clyne.

might get Zabs for Chambers & keep Clyne

i'm going to be annoyed that i can't afford Clyne when I do my january WC

Cheers! Problem with spending 4 points for a defender is that I will need him to keep a CS in order to break even. I was thinking of Ivan because of his superior attacking threat in case the CS is gone. Also I think that Leicester will score.

I think Sagna will start this weekend anyway, Zaba has played a lot recently.

          But that is good logic

You could just use your 2FTs and bench Fab for a game- don't think Leicester will score imo, Ulloa's goal last game was pretty jammy and they don't score a lot in general

Costa has got to go after the Hull match I think.

If rest of my team stays healthy and cardless, it will be an Austin/Dzeko/Jovetic decision for who replaces him.

    Strange year.

I watched that game. Newcastle pushed him further out from goal (albeit in the box) than usual and he took a lot of frustrated looking shots. Newcastle looked like they cracked the Costa code. What did you see?

Hadn't seen that one before. Love the name. Voted for it.

Alas, those numbers are upped by a team that is talented but couldn't finish well enough to put the ball in the net as requisite recently. The team on top wouldn't be there if they were actually scoring in my contrarian over-medicated sniffling drowsy opinion.

Arsenal? You are correct. I am very worried about Welbeck/Ramsey, delighted that I have Sánchez.

                them too

was referring to the blue team actually

                wish I had Sanchez

some weeks ago I had to choose between Hazard 9.9 & Sanchez 10.3 ... I chose unwisely

                ah well...

--- as for Arsenal... Giroud is good for Ramsey it seems but potentially bad for others... and I don't know what Arsene is going to do with the Giroud / Welbeck rotation... and meanwhile am waiting ad infinitem for Wally... though I don't even know if he can become a starter
