    Morning all,

You reckon it's worth disrupting this midfield to get Yaya in?

    A) Yes
    B) No, Dzeko -> Austin
    C) No, Chambers -> Zaba
    D) No, save transfer

    Hart
    Terry, Yun, Chambers
    Sanchez, Hazard, Downing, Eriksen, Siggy
    Costa, Kane

    Krul, Dzeko, Wisdom, Hutton
    Bank 3.4m, 1 freebie

nah, if i had eriksen i would keep him for sure. Nice team.

Would 100% do C... you need to fix that defense. Alternatively do B, but that creates a benching dilemma so is less of a priority for you

OK folks, let's have a discussion on a topic I haven't seen raised in a while. We've had a quiet couple of winters the past 2 seasons. But 3 (I think) seasons ago, winter havoc determined many a fantasy season.

So with that said, and given the relegation/promotion of the past few years, I am unfamiliar with which teams' are most at risk of winter game cancellations. Any knowledge amongst the DZ here?

On a serious note though, I seem to recall Sunderland, Newcastle, Liverpool, Everton, City, and United having several games called off, at least more than others. Perhaps the Welsh teams (swansea) as well.

Sorry, somehow missed your post when scrolling around 🙂

I like to look at the longer-term as well as immediate fixtures, to ensure that players don't become a burden... With that in mind, Kane has pretty decent fixtures until the Jan WC so you could own him and play him in any given game, or just keep him rooted to the bench as permanent 8th forward, as you see fit.

Keep in mind that Yaya is on 4YC's, so you'll want someone good who can cover that inevitability, and Kane is a perfect cheap stand-by option if nothing else.

      1. davies
        • 11 Years
        11 years, 7 days ago

I think the Yaya/Kane option looks the most promising, in terms of both short term fixtures and up until the January WC.

If Spurs look decent, I'll make the moves. Hopefully he doesn't score, though. (Playing Naylor)

I was thinking that now with no first team strikers avl , ManC are probably not gonna score as many goals they want , which perhaps puts an emphasis on defensive solidity to win games.

So their defense becomes very good options now. Bad thing personally that d only city defense I can afford is Clichy..

    Thoughts??

    1. Canadian Football

I might agree...but Yaya is now going to be the main man at city. In close matches, and they should be closer now without a proven striker, he will be the one called upon to join the rush and get into the box. He is about to explode!

      1. rickardinho
        • 11 Years
        11 years, 7 days ago

Agree. An absence of strikers puts more emphasis on the mids to get in the box, and no one likes doing that more than Yaya (except lampard, but he's not nailed on).

With no need to pass anyone in front of him I think Yaya could shoot a lot more in coming weeks

        1. Canadian Football
          • 14 Years
          11 years, 7 days ago

I think yaya might even get pushed to stirker in those matches or periods of matches where a physical presence is needed up front.

            • 11 Years
            11 years, 7 days ago

Tbh I don't think he would be effective. He'd just do what Balotelli does and come short all the time without making smart runs

I am a little leary about Rooney now that RVP has hit form and Falcao is nearing full fitness. Costa will explode eventually and with 60% ownership, it will hurt if you do not own him.

Keep in mind also that as bad as Chelsea were today, they get Fabregas back into the team (for the useless Obi Mikel) and Costa is now match-fit according to Mourinho and might take some confidence from his goal.

It's pretty clear that Remy or Drogba will play vs Derby, so I don't think there are any doubts that Costa will start against Stoke, which was a concern ahead of Hull.

I agree. Don't think any of the popular strikers have great fixtures though, so Costa at Stoke is as good a bet for goals as anyone.

I will probably be selling ahead of the GW19-21 fixtures in any case due to the rotation risk, probably for Benteke (SUN CPL lei iirc)

He doesn't need to explode. I'd happily take his consistent return for the 1-2 gw's that i'll own him while there are no stand-out options up front instead of him, before selling for Benteke or someone else more worthy. In the meantime I cover my arse from the 80%+ around me in the OR who own him 😀

Gotta count the cost of what other transfers he is stopping you from making though. With him I cannot afford Sakho > Bony/Lukaku and Dummett > Zab.

Sure. I wasn't planning on keeping him longer than 2gw's anyways, and by the time i sell him someone like giroud, benteke, bony, lukaku, etc will have stood up and demanded my attention

        Thank you :).

I'm considering to get either Baines or Cahill to strength my defense.

Currentely with Bertrand, Moore, Taylor, Wisdom and Dummet.

I don't think he'll play in the hole, but I doubt he'll have much defensive responsibility now that City are at home and bound to keep teams hemmed-in as they usually do against the bottom-feeders.

I.e. He'll have Silva and Nasri "ahead" of him, but it hardly matters as he gets in the box enough anyways.

Get him Davies.....really required between now and Jan 1. Then, you will be able to free up some cash when he leaves for ACON. This will occur around the same time Aguero returns!

I've already got Yaya>Eriksen pencilled in for GW21 which should give me a nice wad of cash. He could very well be the top scoring mid in the next 4 games though, and it might not even be close.

You're right that others can out perform him in any given gameweek, which why a) I also own the two biggest current threats (Hazard & Sanchez) and b) you need to be confident your other options can beat or match his metronomic 5.6 PPG in the period you own them.

I think what clinches it is the captaincy. Hazard for example might not beat his average per se, but he is a reliable captain in home games, whereas Fabregas isn't, so could outscore him heavily.

You're unlikely to have or need more than about four solid captaincy options in your team, so there's room for them and a 9m consistent points machine.

It depends how the opposition turns up, imo.

Stoke, Saints and Spurs could make it difficult, being at home. West Ham and Newcastle have the potential to score against anyone,

Certainly not a great set of fixtures but you have to think they are the best defensive team in the comp so they will keep a few CS over any run of multiple fixtures.
Good case to be made for a switch to a City defender though.

Out of those, Downing at the Bridge & City if one of their strikers grabs some form, is menacing for sure.

Looks like my 3 loans I took in UFPL will work out smashingly this week...

Hazard(c), Sanchez and Lukaku in for Fab, ADM and Kun. Already got me 36 points with Lukaku still to play.

    😀

Coloccini and Robertson were my only replacements. Wouldn't have had 18 to pick. So 1 point from those two (they would've been subbed out today though) and 7 for Costa(c)

In fact my 7 subs still contains Naismith...massive injury/susp crisis this week

I like pretty much all his songs (which is rare), but my favourites are Blue Eyes, Robotic Wings, Ocean Floor, Haunting, and Air (in fact the whole Beautiful Lies album is great in particular).

    Interesting stat:

Chelsea have kept CS's in 4 of their last 5 games (WBA sun TOT HUL), and the Newcastle game aside (Matic was suspended that game), they haven't conceded more than 1 in a game all season (in all competitions) apart from GW3-4 (eve SWA). Quietly very impressive.

Not if they keep conceding the customary 1 goal.. ditto for Baines....

        Everton:

last 10 league games, 10 GC... only more than 1 twice, with only 2 CS's. Not a bad record in real life, but utter frustrating shite in FPL terms

      i don't think it matters

without a striker, i expect his main scoring to come from FKs or a PK, and for Man C to not score much

unless Pellegrini plays Lampard up front as striker (like Moyes playing Cahill as the front man some years back)... that's the guy that knows how to finish a pass
