Thoughts on Costa:
I get that everyone now sees him as a yellow-card-getting thug who gets one goal a game. But I remember how much everyone (OK not everyone) loved him in the early weeks of the season. Were people just wrong? Or has he changed? I reckon he has it in him to be the player everyone creamed over in the early GWs, but he is just a bit rough now. Could he not get back to that form, are have we just decided we were all wrong about him earlier?
Until he gets back to his early season explosiveness, I won't be getting him. 11m for 5 points every week? No thanks.

People overreact, its what happens here. He wasn't the messiah in those early weeks and he isn't a lost cause now as people seem to want to paint him out to be for some reason. He will score more than most and will pick up needless bookings but while Aguero is out and most of us are flush with cash I don't think there's a more dependable source of goals around
This. 11m is alot, and certainly not "value" but all the players in your team can't be value picks (i.e. your money has to go somewhere), and he's the safest choice for a non-blank out of any forward right now
He got a hattrick back then. Always looked threatening and capable of getting more than one goal a game
His underlying stats have improved compared to then though.... 😉
I'm not denying that. He had form back then, plenty of it. Now he isn't looking so good and his finishing isn't the same as it was.
I'll keep him all season unless he pick up an injury. 5 points per game is consistency. I like that in a FPL squad. Most players aren't consustent above 3pts. Costa is 5 or 15 I'll take that over 2-7 points any day
He was overachieving in the early season. Very high conversion rate of shot for goal. I think he's more at normal level now and will keep scoring & blank & burst some weeks.
I agree about the conversion rate, but he's still getting more chances than pretty much anyone on a consistent basis week-in week-out
There will inevitably be games where he scores more than one, and that's when his consistency will look all the more impressive.
If he scored a hatrick at the weekend then he'd be dubbed 'essential' all over again...If he scores a hattrick it will show he's back in form. I don't think we can say he's in form at the moment, he's only just broken his goal drought.
Thanks for all the replies. I agree with the overall view that the early ecstasy was misguided, just as the current despair is. He will score, and some days he will score a couple, and that is OK by me.
Willing to keep while Aguero is out but he will be the one to go when he's back.
People don't like they are wrong. Complete joke to be getting five or so for eleven million. Keep, I need to climb some more. Others can match or oits core him pretty consistently.

a flukey pen doesn't negate the fact that Mirallas hinders Baines' forward movement and takes most set pieces off of him making him a 7m penalty taking defender at a team that hasn't even been defending all that well..

thats how it goes sometimes. I don't think anyone can argue that RVP hasn't had a large slice of luck with his high scoring % recently, just as Costa had early in the season

Just thought if a player on my pitch didn't play it'd go to my first sub but I now understand that's not the case. My Kane goal celebration was rather unnecessary in the end.
