Before we proceed with today’s planned coverage here on the site I thought it would be worthwhile to state our position when it comes to the current issues facing the Fantasy Premier League game.

The majority of our visitors will be well aware of the problems that have occurred – I don’t need to go over the issues with logins, the inability for those who were not logged to change their squads and then the absence of live scores. In all honesty, I can’t add anything to what you already know about those events.

We really don’t have a wealth of “inside information” on what has occurred. I did have contact with the FPL very late on Friday after the issues they faced forced a major traffic spike on our servers. On that occasion I was informed that there were issues with login and registration which were revealed by a surge in sign-ups on Friday. I was told that work would be done overnight to hopefully rectify the problem.

At that time I was forced to concentrate on our own issues – we had to provision more servers and get Fantasy Football Scout stable once again.

That’s the last communication and information available to me. I’ve had to concentrate on our site on the opening day of the season –traditionally one of the busiest in our year. I did make efforts to get more information and I will up those efforts today.

I will try to find out more then, to hopefully get some idea on what will be done to fix the problems and the frustration amongst us all. I feel it too and I want answers and reassurance as much as anyone.

In the meantime, we are going to go about our business and deliver you some articles – not to provide distraction, not because we’re hiding information or we’re ignoring what is going on over at the FPL, but because that’s what we do here. Through all the frustration, we have to carry on what we do.

Scout Notes on yesterday’s games are in the works.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

33 points with drogba, nani, kompany and silva to play... Not bad but I got 80+ points in GW1 last year and finished top 8000 overall so I will be looking to make some tweaks in the week. Thinking that villa have potential good fun of fixtures and even though fulham held them yesterday I can see goals there, also Bolton may be on a high and have a run for a few weeks too but fancy their fixtures less... Looking forward to seeing chelski, manure and city up next...come on drogba (and this from a spurs fan!).

right folks, all this negativity is wearing thin. Its not the end of the world. Everyone has had a gash first week and the problems are being fixed as we speak. Onwards and upwards, i'd recommend not going near FPL for a couple of days...try the pub instead.. 😉

Whilst it's difficult not to be negative, my rival is alreeady leading, and I'd be a lot closer had I been able to make my intended changes. Yes, he had Given (C) and also Cahill. There's nothing to be done, but it's hugely frustrating.

With those sort of choices he's either a genius or an idiot, and there are alot fewer people in the genius category than the other. I'm sure you'll be fine catching him as the season progresses.

From what I've read if it wasn't due to wastefulness from his team mates he'd have had an assist or two.

Everyone panicking about Villa need to wait and see how they play at home, I've only got Given so am hoping for the same defensive dullness, but more than likely their attacking intent will increase.

It's extremely interesting that the problems meant I couldn't swap Carroll for Suarez, Gardner for Eagles and change my captain and subs bench. It's a good feeling. I also now have no Silva. I was going to swap out Downing. (Although I would have been happy had he scored that goal). Anyone else have a more catastrophic lack of transfers? (Obvs those with auto teams!)

Anyone else think the loss of the 'latest points' tab is a real ballache? Having to click twice to see them is just another step backwards. Scrap the notes section to make room for it?

Also clicking the teams in the mini-league, then clicking Gameweek X is annoying as well. Should go straight to the latest week's points. Nobody gives a shit how your rivals have performed in past weeks, we just wanna see their teams and points for this week.

Love having FF back! Been a long summer!

Got everyone into our usual league in plenty of time, which is working fine. We are all far too keen and update our team as every transfer or bit of news happens, so even though none of us could log in on Fri and Sat, we all had the teams we wanted.

It actually saved me from taking Rooney out for RVP as a last minute transfer!

The lack of live points is a bit annoying, but we all checked them last night, so its still fun 🙂

24 points with Cole, Kompany, Silva and Rooney (C) still to play, not great, but not terrible either. Looking forward to today's games!

Thanks for the update Mark. My guess is that you are just as frustrated as we are over this terrible level of incompetence but you are unable to say clearly how you feel about it. This cock up is symtematic of how, in every part of life, there are cretins allowed to make changes and show off their blue sky thinking when wiser heads are ignored. Usually the cretins get away with it too and live to cock things up again another day.

Sadly, for the first time in a long time I won't be using this site or the fantasy football site during the games today after being so frustrated with it all yesterday. I will return when, and if, it seems that the cretins have botched something acceptable or have been replaced by grown ups.

It seems to me that the changes FPL made were due to most of the comments on here which provided the feedback from FFS- now a partnership of course. All you lot that week in, week out who complained about bonus, assists, etc. only have yourselves to blame as now new system for bonus, assist rule changed and why would they do live points updates if there's tons of complaints about it being wrong and thus having to go back and change them?

I share your Downing+Carroll misfortune. They weren't going to be in my final picks anyway. The Carroll one was a load. He touched him, yeah. Not enough contact for it to be a foul. Ferdinand just misjudged it because he's an average player.

Impressed by Ramsey's 'tidyness,' for want of a better word. Showed some good touches. Wonder if they'll keep Arshavin? Last time I heard, Anzhi were after him. The team that bought Zhirkov and apparently offered Eto'o £300,000 a week.

I was a bit "worried" to be honest - no cutting edge and their 'final ball' was way off. Gervinho was oddly Arsenal's best player in the first 45 and RVP looked rusty, but plenty of time to go...

Have sorted out my provisional team for next week already...just in case.

I wonder about shipping out RVP for Drogba or Torres for next week too (will watch today's game first). I might keep Carroll in against Arsenal, with the Bolton game in mind after that...

Things that annoy me about the new FPL site...

    - It doesn't remember my login details.
    - When clicking on a rivals team it takes you to Gameweek history rather than the actual team.
    - Less information on every screen (no league table, no fixtures for next GW).
    - On the transfers page you have to scroll all the way down see the players, and all the way back up to change the filters. Should be shorter.
    - You should be able to click on a player to make them captain/vice-captain.

And that's without mentioning yesterdays serious problems with logging in and no latest points.

As you can see, I'm easily annoyed.

      - he thinks he has a well balanced knowledgeable view on football
      - he is actually biased and deluded
      - also a bit of dick
      - imagine him pulling that scholes face everytime he posts

+lots. The new look is fine in principle but there is way too much wasted space, which results in too much scrolling etc. and the information is too fragmented. It's all too much click, click, scroll, scroll, click, click, scroll, click etc..

nah, everyone will dump all QPR players fast, with his high ownership, expect a few 0.1's drop.

I'd sell him now if you want to keep value

I decided not to go for him anyway, too risky with his inconsistent ways and very medium price. Even if he does drop in price all it will take is a goal (which you'd expect considering their up and coming fixtures) and he'll shoot up once again.

I'm keeping him... He's a hot'n'cold player who will do nothing one week and then score 2 and get max bonus points the next... Wait for him to have a great couple of games, then when 60000+ ship him in you can capitalise on the +0.3m price rise?

You've got to give your players 3-4 weeks at the start of the season before dumping them, i learned this last year after swapping Carroll out in the first couple of weeks only for him to score a hat-trick in the next game. The fixtures are still in their favour. Have faith in your team and ride with it, its probably going to be a low scoring gameweek all round (depending on how tonight goes)

Just to make any of u aware.. it is not too late to join a private h2h league as the fixtures have not been generated. 3 more have joined my work one. You will notice that you can actually still leave a h2h which u normally can't do after first deadline.

To all those saying 'get over it'...

Yesterday's fiasco was a nightmare of an own-goal from FFL.

I've been in a couple of private leagues for several years - with mates spread all over the world - and from before 5am(UK time) yesterday morning, virtually no-one could access their FF account to log-on, view their team, change their team, change substitutes priority/captain etc.

Half of the guys I compete against have not even been able to enter their teams at all, what a complete and utter disaster !

FFL have ruined a whole season-worth of banter and competition.

In my opinion, Week 1 should be null and void... and the game should commence in Week 2, at least then those that couldn't enter a team or had auto-pick teams get a fair crack of the whip.

    Disgusted.

Make the rule that everyone has to use their WC for GW2 & scoring starts in GW2 then everything is even in the league.

tbh.. hoping the 4 players ive got left average 5 points each.. just scraping over 40 after bonuses would do me.

No Rooney is a bit of a sickener.. I had RVP & Carroll.

Ditto about RVP and Carroll - was looking at bringing Rooney in for RVP and Silva instead of Nani before yesterday's lockout...but the rest, as they say, is history.

Maybe, I was considering doing RVP -> Bent (c) next week.
Then keeping a transfer and getting Suarez & RVP in for Carroll & Bent after the international break.

Arsenal and Bolton (who liverpool always beat) look good for Carroll.

I'll say it again, crowds make bad choices.

Go with your guts people, Cahill was a joke around here for the whole of pre-season purely down to fixtures. Even the fact that they were playing QPR and he was in the top 5 defenders last season didnt sway people to pick him. Now he is top player in FPL so far.

go with your gut people, at least then you only have yourself to blame rather than a 5 guys on the internet.

Victor Moses made and won more challenges than any other midfielder yesterday. Haven't seen the highlights yet but really looking forward to seeing him.

Reassuring to see that he's getting some transfers in, too. Was abit worried after so many people got burned by Boselli last year.

I heard that the thing that powers bonus points is the same that powers 'Fifa's' version? Surely this can't be true? I've had players on there who've scored a hat-trick but been passed over in favour of defenders who completed all there passes. I'm presuming it can't be?!
