Before we proceed with today’s planned coverage here on the site I thought it would be worthwhile to state our position when it comes to the current issues facing the Fantasy Premier League game.

The majority of our visitors will be well aware of the problems that have occurred – I don’t need to go over the issues with logins, the inability for those who were not logged to change their squads and then the absence of live scores. In all honesty, I can’t add anything to what you already know about those events.

We really don’t have a wealth of “inside information” on what has occurred. I did have contact with the FPL very late on Friday after the issues they faced forced a major traffic spike on our servers. On that occasion I was informed that there were issues with login and registration which were revealed by a surge in sign-ups on Friday. I was told that work would be done overnight to hopefully rectify the problem.

At that time I was forced to concentrate on our own issues – we had to provision more servers and get Fantasy Football Scout stable once again.

That’s the last communication and information available to me. I’ve had to concentrate on our site on the opening day of the season –traditionally one of the busiest in our year. I did make efforts to get more information and I will up those efforts today.

I will try to find out more then, to hopefully get some idea on what will be done to fix the problems and the frustration amongst us all. I feel it too and I want answers and reassurance as much as anyone.

In the meantime, we are going to go about our business and deliver you some articles – not to provide distraction, not because we’re hiding information or we’re ignoring what is going on over at the FPL, but because that’s what we do here. Through all the frustration, we have to carry on what we do.

Scout Notes on yesterday’s games are in the works.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Thanks for the statement Mark. Besides this one lapse due to unprecedented levels of demand, FFS is a fantastic site and will remain so.

Look forward to the scout notes!

Woah there. What lapse from FFS?

The lapses have all been from FPL if I recall.

What ban is Gervinho going to get? 3, maybe 5 for violent conduct? Song may get a ban as well. And maybe Barton, if he hadn't been booked. It's good news for Liverpool anyway. They've got a tough qualifier in mid-week, then may have a very slim midfield come next weekend.

Reckon it's only gonna be a 3 but Song is probably gonna get a 3 match ban as well - and considering there next 2 fixtures I would avoid Arsenal players at all costs!

Indeed. Very interested to see where Wenger will invest the money coming in. Cahill, Samba or Dann would be good signings. Mertesacker, I'm not so sure. I'd love Cahill to come to Liverpool. (My feelings before the goal yesterday.)

Dann will be cheaper, both in transfer and wages. Cahill has only a year left on his contract, but is seeking silly wages. But, Bolton have to sell, or they'll only get about £7m in January or nothing next summer.

Anyway if Cahill goes I reckon he will go to Liverpool considering the money you've been spending in the summer.

Maybe. He'll have to drop his wages though. Some say he's looking for nearly 100k. Ridiculous. We've spent big on fees, but wages are much more conservative now. Adam and Henderson are, combined, on the same as Phillipp Degen.

I think it was a joke decision. Especially when Diaby got sent off at St.James for doing what Barton did. You could argue that Barton was more aggressive in the way he grabbed Gervinho.

No excuses for Alex Song though.

He clipped his foot, I've seen them given. Definitely wouldn't call it a dive becasue there was contact. Didn't spot what did Cabaye do throughout the brawl? Him and Gervinho have been teammates for years, i bet he thinks Barton is a knob.

He lightly touched his footed, there was no force imo. Quite similar to Hernandez at SJP last year. Cabaye didn't do anything in the fight or the match, annoyingly as i took a punt on him.

Jus to add to Xabi post,The Fpl ia a disaster but like all work in progress-Fixes are needed and will come,The rules/login/glitches are the same for all-Get over it. Further to Xabi post-Sky Sports FF (At the cutting edge of technology!) crashed causing utter chaos, and in general is the worst FF site Ive ever seen, Bear in mind if your going to login(If you can get through that minefield!) set aside at least 10 mins and prepare yourself for a navigation crisis that hasnt been seen since Luke Skywalker tried to land on Darth Vaders planet!

Well anyone's in my mini league. I can see the results of my opponents wildcard.

I click their week 1 team, switch to
data view from pitch view and there it is, all the transfers in that they did last night.

Is this supposed to work like this???!!!

    yeah I randomly selected Chandler,
who is the top of page 2 in transfers
thread, said he went Carroll > Bent. And I can see that is true by following his link and checking data view. And there is Darren Bent, ready for next week.

Not because it cant be done technically etc, even if they did have the time, but because of the wealth of more confusion and questions it would raise for people who accept the game has started. I can say right now that it will never ever happen though. There is absolutely NO chance FPL will buckle for that.

It is a real shame for you lot who waited until the last day to sort your team out but the FPL will just argue that it was your own fault, and in most cases they will be right.

Really? And why is it our fault? The FPL site clearly said we could make free transfers up until 11:30 on Saturday and yet we couldn't. I think it is very clearly their fault. I had every intention of sorting my team out Friday night. I didn't see the point in doing it any earlier than that as i wouldn't have much team news and would larely be guessing at who would be starting etc etc

I didn't say they would implement it, but how is it people's fault to expect a website to function up until it's deadline? Why even have a deadline at all. Not all of us always have access to the site at all times. Ergo, if we can only change our teams just before the deadline, so be it. This has been gone over a million times, but laying the blame onto those who tried to log in during the problems is misguided and stupid.

Right, that came out a bit wrong, sorry. Of course it's their fault but they will always claim it was the same for everyone and that we had the chance to set our teams up for so long.

I don't care at all personally but I'd be INCREDIBLY surprised if FPL hand out an extra wildcard.

It would be harsh if they give an extra wildcard (for the people who have planned their teams for x no. of gameweeks), but it would also be very harsh if they don't (on the people who, through no fault of their own, couldn't finalise a team). Either way there'll be people who will feel aggrieved.

From the looks of it one guy in my mini-league didn't have a chance to sort his team out as it's a right mess (quite a bit of it looks like auto-fill). It is NOT his fault, we were given a deadline of 11:30 on Saturday morning to make a team. FPL crashed some 15 or so hours before the dealine. That's not his fault.

your missing the point completely. experience tells you that if you leave things until the last minute you run a higher risk of experiencing problems. its common sense to "arrive" that bit early, wether it be cup finals, catching flights or most other things in life. simple. if you dont alrady know that you've got a bit of learning to do. they were implementing a new system for 2 million users, think about it.

I really need to explain why this is bollox?

The main reason i waited till Friday was because this is when the most information regarding player fitness and likely starting XI's is available. You get it? I couldn't see the point in doing any serious research before that as it would likely be in vain..... Needless to say i wish i had

it should have worked as per the old site, fair enough, but ater all they are implementing a new system with up to 2 million users. there was plenty time (3 weeks or so) for people to organise their teams. like the point that has been made is that it was the same for all of us. so why the need to change anything. a lot of the posts on here were people bleating because their choices, in hindsight didn't do well, thats just how it works sometimes. i'm sure if Carroll, Suarez, RVP and Gervinho had ripped it up there wouldn't have been half as many compaints.

I have to disagree as I don't think it can be done technically by these bunch of morons. Can you imagine them trying to implement a change like that? They can't even get live scoring to work for fs sake. It would probably end in all our teams being deleted. I feel sorry for those people who couldn't get a decent team sorted and I was frustrated I couldn't make the last minute transfers I wanted but an extra wildcard seems too ambitious.

Your suggestions please, I had baines on the bench and am putting him in the starting 11 for gw2, question is which defender should I drop to the bench out of:

    Simpson or Hughes?

I have kompany also but I'll leave him in and my other defender de laet will be benched

I bet there was loads of uproar on here yesterday. Suarez miss pen, everyone going mental! Then he scores and those who were going mental suddenly weren't so annoyed, Gabbidon own goal, luckily he's staying on my bench, and then a red card for the new guy who had much more ownership than I thought he would. GOod times.
