Before we proceed with today’s planned coverage here on the site I thought it would be worthwhile to state our position when it comes to the current issues facing the Fantasy Premier League game.

The majority of our visitors will be well aware of the problems that have occurred – I don’t need to go over the issues with logins, the inability for those who were not logged to change their squads and then the absence of live scores. In all honesty, I can’t add anything to what you already know about those events.

We really don’t have a wealth of “inside information” on what has occurred. I did have contact with the FPL very late on Friday after the issues they faced forced a major traffic spike on our servers. On that occasion I was informed that there were issues with login and registration which were revealed by a surge in sign-ups on Friday. I was told that work would be done overnight to hopefully rectify the problem.

At that time I was forced to concentrate on our own issues – we had to provision more servers and get Fantasy Football Scout stable once again.

That’s the last communication and information available to me. I’ve had to concentrate on our site on the opening day of the season –traditionally one of the busiest in our year. I did make efforts to get more information and I will up those efforts today.

I will try to find out more then, to hopefully get some idea on what will be done to fix the problems and the frustration amongst us all. I feel it too and I want answers and reassurance as much as anyone.

In the meantime, we are going to go about our business and deliver you some articles – not to provide distraction, not because we’re hiding information or we’re ignoring what is going on over at the FPL, but because that’s what we do here. Through all the frustration, we have to carry on what we do.

Scout Notes on yesterday’s games are in the works.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Heres hoping I can salvage this GW with a double hitter of Alex & Malouda followed by Nani & Rooney(C). I'm thinking there is a greater chance of getting points from the Man U game, I just hope Chelsea atleast keeps a clean sheet.

Much like everyone else my GW1 team has under performed - 15 from 8. Dissapointing too that I had Given (7), Hughes (6) + Simpson (6) on my bench. However, there is no one that I've had in my team at some point that could have improved it. Perhaps Malouda will change that in the next couple of hours but I doubt it... So I cant be too upset.

My GW2 team without any changes:

    Given
    Richards | Enrique | Hughes
    Nani | Downing | N'Zogbia | Sinclair
    Rooney | Carroll | Zamora

    Al-Habsi | Moses | Sinclair | Gabbidon

    0.5

    Thinking Nani > Malouda OR Richards + Rooney > Baines + Bent/Drogba

Point im trying to make is its been a difficult weekend for ff but were all pretty much in the same boint and I feel like despite the poor score I am set up well for the next GW.

Take a deep breath and remember it usually takes 2-3 weeks for things to settle down. Then you can start making the big decisions. Your team looks pretty good as is.

No scores, no fixtures, no league tables - THIS IS NO FUN !!!

If you can't have the crack with your mates on a Sat/Sun, then what's the point ? We don't want to have the crack about it next weekend - next weekend's next weekend, we should be having the crack about next weekends matches, not the last weekends ?!

It's a bit like starting a new job, managing to get through the first month unscathed and asking for your wages, only to get told that you won't get paid until the month after.

    That sucks ass too !

That's why I have him. He might not play every game, or every minute in every game but he will do well. I like to think 10 goals and 5 assits in about near-as-makes-no-difference 1600 minutes is a very good record.

but you need to pick him before he has a run of games...that's the problem...it's nonsense to suggest he's a good choice unless you're predicting he'll play at least 2 games out of 3...even then you'd need to think hard about whether there are better options...you don't have a bunch of injured players yet!

The problem with Kalou is the games when he plays a short cameo at the end and just scores a point. Granted when given a start or enough minutes to actually do something then he will generally score well but can you risk taking the 1pt hits as well? Especially if your sub is sat on the bench with 6pts+. It would drive me crazy

I think this is the same for most people. Anyone who does score highly this week probably has a team that wpon't do well next week. However, still to see how Chelse, ManU and City fair - the latter in particular.

most people who have what i consider to be a good team will have a poor score just now...but they don't have waste a transfer on Drogba, Bosingwa, Kalou, or somebody from Bolton

So for those that watched the football or highlights yesterday

Were Arsenal that bad or did Newcastle have a really good game?

Were Bolton that GOOD or were QPR just shite? How was Tarrabt?

Arsenal were rather poor, hardly registering any worthwhile shots. Mind you, Newcastle weren't much better.

QPR started out well, and then fell apart. Cahill's goal was unstoppable, the own goal was slack from Gabbidon - after that, as they stated, they just capitulated. But I was suprised that Bolton played so well (just from highlights, mind) - with Lee injured I didn't think they'd be up to much.

Real highlight from yesterday was Suarez for Liverpool (except for rubbish penalty), and Given.

Purely from MOTD and SSN...QPR started okay (Chris Kamara said they were loving it early on), had a goal (rightfully) disallowed, but when Bolton scored they completely collapsed. Taarabt was involved but didn't seem to have as much time as he was used to, had one shot from long range that wasn't far off.

Newcastle v Arsenal was just an awful game, that can happen at the start of seasons at times. Both defences coped well and that was that.

Arsenal were pretty poor. Lots of possession, but they created very few clear opportunities and didn't have many shots considering how often they had the ball for. They also seemed pretty lethargic; they weren't getting the ball forward as quickly as they have done in the past and little room as apparent. Maybe you could put that down to Newcastle holding their shape well, but they seemed pretty average to me (at least going forward anyway).

I think 4-0 flatters Bolton, they didn't play in such a way or have any players that made me think I should start investing. 1st goal was bit a bit of a wonder goal, although you could argue that QPR should've closed down Cahill quicker. 2nd and 3rd were pretty unfortunate, but you could again argue that better defenders might not have conceded them (own goal, massive deflection). By the 4th, they'd pretty much capitulated and were ball watching.

All in all, QPR fell apart pretty quickly after the 2nd. Before Cahill struck, it seemed pretty even. Taraabt showed nice touches and some enterprise, but he got caught out a few times taking too long. But I'll be keeping hold of him for now. I think they'll improve with a few more games.. you could say they didn't look as sharp as Bolton so maybe you could put it down to pre-season preparations.
