A tasty home tie with the bottom-of-the-table team saw Fantasy managers transfer in Arsenal players in their droves prior to today’s games, but thanks to the heriocs of Rob Green, the vast majority will be bitterly disappointed.

The West Ham keeper made a fantastic 10 saves as he kept the Gunners at bay time and again before Alex Song finally made the breakthrough for Arsene Wenger’s side with an 88th minute header.

On the back of last week’s impressive 3-0 win at Eastlands, Samir Nasri was acquired by 172,000 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers, Marouanne Chamakh by 107,000 and Cesc Fabregas by 48,000, as many expected a rout against Avram Grant’s strugglers. Indeed, our Captain’s Poll was fairly indicative of this optimism, with all three being in the top four slots for Gameweek 10.

Song, on the other hand, was brought in by a mere 4,000 managers, despite his goal at Man City last Sunday. Bearing in mind he is owned by only 2.6% of FPL bosses, the fact he has outscored the aforementioned players shouldn’t, therefore, have too much effect on the overall team rankings.

Song has now found the net 3 times in the league already this season, and given that his previous season’s best has been 1 goal, he’s showing a fair eye for goal this time round. He seems to have been given a remit to roam further forward than he’s used to, and so far it’s paying off.

Arsenal have now won their last five games in all competitions, but are making hard work of things at the Emirates in the league of late. Their last three home matches has seen a loss and two wins by just the one goal against opponents they have been expected to dispatch of with ease. Gameweek 11 allows them the opportunity to remedy that, as Newcastle make a trip to the Emirates.

Results elsewhere mean the much-maligned Green can take no consolation at all in his display, as fellow strugglers Wolves win over Man City gives them a three point gap over the Hammers at the bottom. Still, there’s always a bright side, Rob. At least you don’t do this every week.

Man C played Blackburn on Monday night. I was all up for getting Tevez in, but couldn't risk it with the snow. That cautious backfired badly, as Tevez got a hattrick and then went on to score in pretty much every game for the rest of the season. I'd put my money elsewhere by then and it was too late. 🙁

Three of those transfers were good. If you hadn't done Bosingwa and Adam, that would have been a decent 8 point hit.

Admittedly not an 8 point hit that worked out this week, but pretty good for the future.

the problem with malouda and drogs appears to be that when lamps was playing, they were both killing it, since lamps has dropped out of the team both their points have dried up. tells you something imo.

lol, thats up to you guys to make your own decisions. personally i dropped malouda for fabs this week, if it hadn't been for an inspired performance by rob green it would have been well worth it. its a hard one to call but lamps opens up a lot for chelsea.

Can someone tell me what changes I should be making - have had 3 really bad weeks but I just don't get why. At the moment I have:

    Foster, Krul
    Jara, Konchesky, Samba, Elmo, Faye
    Nani, Bale, Malouda, Fabs, S.Davies
    Drogs, Carroll, Chamakh

    1.1m in bank

It's a good team, you've been unlucky. Any changes you make (Bale out?, Konch out?) could easily end up biting you on the arse the following week. The only one that seems like a no-brainer to me is to drop Chamakh. I don't fancy him at all... Swap for Hernandez perhaps? Looks like Rooney will be away for a while...

yeah, wearing very thin! it's really annoying because on paper it should be working. and yet my main rival in my mini-league has what i think is a really crap team, yet he always gets something flukey (like vidic scoring yesterday) arrrrgh.

      Keepers are good.

      Elmo, Samba good.

      Nani, Malouda, Fabs good.

Drogs, Carroll good. I'd stick with Chamakh for now too.

      Leaves you with:-
      Jara, Konchesky, Faye, S.Davies, Bale.

Davies first to go imo, i've lost patience with Bale too.
See how Konchesky gets on today, same for Jara.
Faye? Stoke are looking useless, possibly better options. Priority is improve the midfielders imo.

yeah, i am close to having lost patience with bale...but i just know the week i get rid he will score!

davies i agree....i'm thinking to go to ferguson for b'ham just to free up some cash as most weeks he will sit on the bench.

chamakh was my transfer in this week just for arsenal's next few nice fixtures...although he failed vs. west ham!

lol.. i made the same mistake ref. chamakh, i am going to have to stick with him though, hopefully he'll repay my faith!

I've stuck bale out for too long now, i'm going to upgrade to VDV if he is ok/not injured and comes through the inter game midweek unscaved.

i'd prefer brunt/adam for davies? wait & see what happens in that match first though of course.

i got rid of konchesky last week also, but liverpool are possibly improving? if they keep a CS against bolton he may be worth keeping for now.

yeah, konchesky i'm unsure about. i think if they concede today i may look to get rid and spend a little to maybe get jags.

i want vdv too but will wait to see if he's out for a while - a price drop would be sweet so can get him in cheaper.

chamakh surely has to score in the next 2 right? i hope. after that he's gone - esp with bendtner and rvp coming back.
