Before we draw a line firmly under the first Gameweek, we’ve decided to analyse some individual performances over the weekend. By looking at the Opta stats of Fernando Torres, we can see what his Sunday showing at the Britannia offered in comparison to his average displays for the Blues last term. The same applies to Robin Van Persie- no goals from the Dutchman at St James on Saturday night, but how did his game hold up?

In this first Members article of the active Fantasy season, we also take a look at Victor Moses and Ashley Young’s Man United league debut, weighing up what the pair’s new roles this season have offered so far…

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

I have been impressed with Benzema lately, albeit only friendlies etc. but looks like he could rediscover some form and I hope he does.

not to familiar with the mechanics of fpl,was wondering when will prices begin to rise/fall??.... after gw 2 deadline?!!if so is it worth going with the likes of aguero and gary cahill as every1 will b bringing them in??!!

Yes... during gw3. Will they rise if everyone has got them? My biggest worry is getting rid of the bandwagons if they get injured as prices will now plummet.

Maybe, maybe not but that is my thinking 🙂 This gw's wc has thrown a spanner in the usual works. Right now I am just concentrating on getting a team that will score. What happens next will happen.

    Have I gone mad?

I’m considering Malouda and Torres for these next two weeks and keeping 1m in the bank so that if Torres screws up I can always change back to Rooney.

    Current Team:

    Given, Vorm
Kompany, Cole, Hughes, De Laet, Simpson
    Silva, Malouda, Moses, Sinclair, Brunt
    Rooney, Bent, Holt.

So what do you reckon good idea or not?

If it doesnt work this week for Malouda I can ship him for a 10m midfielder and have even more money to upgrade with. So its a win win situation I think.

I'd be looking at getting Torres in that forward line but at the expense of Holt rather than Rooney.

Cole > Bos & Malouda to a midfield cheapie; your 5th midfielder should also be dirt cheap.

Given & Vorm's fixtures don't rotate well either...

Thanks for feed back I have Holt because he is very cheap and he is on pens. He could get 10+ goals this year if all goes well.
I like the coverage in Chelsea defence Cole gives me as he is a definite starter.
Probably play Given most weeks anyway.

This is more of an eye opener to people.

Its not like there is any political party in which to use this way of thinking in Us or Uk anyway.

Opening a few eyes is important.

Because the wealth is so insanely huge in America people at the lower end of the wealth distribution aren't necessarily poor, in fact "the typical American defined as poor by the government has a car, air conditioning, a refrigerator, a stove, a clothes washer and dryer, and a microwave. He has two color televisions, cable or satellite TV reception, a VCR or DVD player, and a stereo. He is able to obtain medical care. His home is in good repair and is not overcrowded. By his own report, his family is not hungry and he had sufficient funds in the past year to meet his family's essential needs. While this individual's life is not opulent, it is equally far from the popular images of dire poverty conveyed by the press, liberal activists, and politicians."

I can't decide between having Rooney, Torres or Aguero. I'm leaning towards Rooney or Aguerro. I've looked at the stats for the people they are playing. All of three player's teams have beaten their GW2 opponents by two goals roughly 2/3 the time, have a great win record and almost no loses or games without goals, so I'm kinda torn.

Ok, so hopefully my defence smells less of donkey poo now, I went from:

    Given – Ruddy
    Jagielka – Enrique – Simpson – Wilkinson – Gabbidon
    Nani – Yaya – N’Zog – Sinclair – Moses
    Aguero – Torres – Suarez

    to:

    Given – Ruddy
    Kompany - Alex - Enrique – Jagielka - Simpson
    Nani/Malouda – Yaya – N’Zog – Sinclair/Taarabt – Moses
    Aguero/Torres – Suarez - Zamora

Thoughts on the team and Sinclair/Taarabt, Aguero/Torres and Nani/Malouda?

    Deliberating one of two choices:

N'Zogbia - at home to Blackburn

    or

Bale - away to ManU (but with a defence probably missing Rio, Vidic, and Evra)

    What do you reckon?

I haven't got him but he was a pain in my arse all last season (when I didn't have him). I just don't see Everton being that good this season but await to be ridiculed by their next performance.

I've not picked him this year. At 8.0 I reckon you'll get a better return from a cheaper defender and investing the cash in a more expensive midfielder. Then again, I've still spent 7.5 on Ashley Cole

Even downgrading Cashley to say Bos can't create the financial gaps to accomodate Baines, Kompany, Torres, Rooney and say Bent in your team (without a severely depleted midfield).

Arteta will pinch set pieces off him (surely) but his runs forward and accurate crossing will see him scoop up the bonus points unless Everton run riot up front.

The onus is definitely on the strikers for the current bonus points system so he may be dispensible.

No, no, no, NO! Have him! You know why you've got him but if he fails do you know who you can get in for him? I do, and I like it 🙂

After much tinkering, I've come up with a team I really like. Anyone see any gaping holes in it?

    Schwarzer, Vorm
Kompany, Bosingwa, Warnock, S Taylor, Brown
    Young, Arteta, N'Zogbia, Moses, Hoolahan
    Torres, Aguero, Zamora

Thanks v12, I think I'm going to run with that. Have to keep an eye on Arteta's fitness though.

I was looking at Vorm to go with Given after his performance against Man City, but how well does he rotate with Given?

well up until GW12, either Villa or Swansea or both have "easy" fixtures so i'd say pretty well actually

I wouldn't have Aguero and Silva becasue they have 2 away games coming up and Aguero wont be risked against Bolton.

For the next two weeks only...

      Sinclair
      Torres
Toss a coin (worried about writing off Nani; Young impressed me but Nani was a demon at home last season). I may ignore both and have Torres & Rooney up top..with Bent. RVP & Aguero to come in at gw4...

Sinclair (Taarabt looks like a Championship show pony, not a Premier League performer - although I may be made to eat my words if he finds his feet)
Aguero (he just looked awesome last time out)
Malouda (until ManU get a kind run of fixtures)

Just re-read my own post. Why do I have Nani? Probably shouldn't listen to me if I don't even take my own advice..
