Our Friday afternoon regular comes around once again, as we take a look at the PlayON Player Price List ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. As always, we offer a couple of picks per position: one essential weekend target and a left-field alternative for your consideration.

PlayON have now extended their deadline for submitting your teams so you can now tinker with your starting XI right up until the first kick-off each week – so tomorrow that’s right up to 12.45pm, when Sunderland welcome Liverpool to the Stadium of Light in the Gameweek’s early kick-off.

Goalkeeper – Mark Schwarzer
With Kasper Schmeichel still sidelined, Nigel Pearson has recently snapped up the veteran from Chelsea as Leicester look to cement their spot in the top-flight. Priced at just 5.5m, Schwarzer looks poised to take over from Ben Hamer in goal and his experience between the sticks could be vital as his new club play host to an Aston Villa side with a single strike in the last five Gameweeks. West Bromwich Albion’s Ben Foster is immediately drafted in as our favoured option between the posts. Available for just 6.3m in PlayON, the Baggies number one will be hoping to benefit from Tony Pulis’ installation to the Hawthorns hotseat and at home to fellow strugglers Hull, looks a solid shout to rack up his seventh clean sheet of the season.

Defender – Mathieu Debuchy
Whilst Arsenal’s failure to keep a clean sheet for six matches has dented their defensive appeal, it has, nonetheless, ensured the Frenchman remains favourably priced as Stoke roll up to the Emirates. Coming in at 7.2m, Debuchy faces a Potters attack with just three goals in their last four road trips and with the visitors’ top scorer Mame Biram Diouf having departed to the African Cup of Nations, a shut-out could be on the cards. The right-back’s strike against Liverpool in Gameweek 17 also serves a reminder of his points potential at both ends of the pitch. Three goals in four matches for a defender is an eye-catching feat and makes John Terry (8.7m) our essential pick in defence as Chelsea host Newcastle at Stamford Bridge. In spite of his recent attacking endeavours, the centre-half is even kinder on your budget than team-mates Branislav Ivanovic (9.5m) and Gary Cahill (8.8m) and is always likely to pick up extra points with the clearance and interception elements in PlayON’s scoring matrix. Given that the Blues haven’t conceded in the last four in front of their own fans, another clean sheet would be no surprise.

Midfielders – Stephane Sessegnon
The West Brom midfielder will be hoping to continue his recent fine form in Tony Pulis’ first match at the Hawthorns. Sessegnon has bagged four assists and fired six shots on target (each worth 200 points in PlayON) in the previous five Gameweeks and Pulis will be relying on his creativity and Saido Berahino’s threat up front to get the better of a Hull side that have conceded seven in their last four away matches. Managerless Newcastle make their way to Stamford Bridge on the back of a run that has seen them concede 13 goals in their last five matches. After losing their unbeaten run to the Magpies early last month, Jose Mourinho’s side will be out for revenge and we turn to Eden Hazard as the Magpies likely chief tormentor. The Belgian has served up three goals and as many assists in his last five outings and, at a price of 13.9m, is cheaper than team-mate Diego Costa (15m) up front.

Forwards – Ashley Barnes
We’re overlooking Danny Ings for Burnley’s home clash with QPR and instead turn to his in-form strike partner. Whilst the former has scored just once in the last seven league matches, Barnes has racked up three goals in five and priced at a mere 6.5m, he looks a real value option against a side that has failed to pick up a single pint on their travels so far. Man of the moment Harry Kane is impossible to ignore. After making the PlayON picks as our left-field striker on Boxing Day, the youngster is elevated to essential status for Tottenham’s trip to Crystal Palace. Coming in at just 7.7m, Kane has delivered five goals and three assists in his last five outings and looks in the mood to spoil Alan Pardew’s homecoming at Selhurst Park.

Not sure he'll compete with him on the goal tally but his assists should be a lot higher and I imagine he may get a few more BPs.

        Nope.

I think Sanchez might have been bought for the striker role with Walcott in mind. Lots of potential interchange there.

He gives us a focal point, but I'm not convinced he is 100% nailed on.

      1 FT, 6.3m itb

      Guzan
      Zaba ᵈ Terry ᵈ Hutton ᵈ Demi ᵈ Chambers
      Silva ᵐ Hazard ᵐ Sanchez ᵐ Downing ᵐ Marney
      Austin ᶠ Bony ᶠ Kane

      Just Bony out?

If I want Aguero next week I'll have to take a hit (3 City; holding WC) so was half-tempted by Demi > Trippier and start 4 in the back to straight shot Bony > Aguero next week for free.

Would mean losing 0.1m on Bony (minimum, maybe more depending on when I do my transfers next gameweek). Thoughts?

Worth a repost. Clean sheet odds (most likely to least likely order)

      4/6 - Chelsea
      1/1 - Arsenal
      5/4 - West Brom
      11/8 - Man Utd
      7/5 - Leicester
      6/4 - Liverpool
      17/10 - Burnley, Spurs
      9/5 - Man City
      15/8 - Swansea
      13/5 - Aston Villa, Hull
Never going to happen - Sunderland, QPR, Newcastle, Everton, West Ham, Palace, Stoke, Southampton

      @ChrisWhite, GB etc

Sturridge, no football since September, not on pens, average fixtures from GW23 (when I will wc) is he really worth it?

      My debate essentially rests on

Fabs/Walcott and Bojan (rotating attack) v Sturridge and Boyd

He may not be worth it. But that's why the Costa strat is useful. It gives you the flexibility to adapt if Sturridge starts scoring for fun.

I look at Arsenal's fixtures and think a double up may be worthwhile

Sturridge and Walcott, both are differentials that could do you some serious rankings climbing, it's just which one to take

They get a lot of stick for being cowards etc. but my dad (way back when he was a doc in the army) says that they are one group you just don't f**k with. Especially on their own soil. Them terrorists would be better of killing themselves than letting the French police get their hands on them I reckon...

I spent a little time in French and have a general understanding of the country's history, etc....If they are one thing, the French are proud. And, pride can be a bad thing to mess with.

Exactly that, we frequently are over there I've had the exact same experience. When I heard about the attacks I knew they'd go after them with everything they have. Fully support it too, I have no time for this utter BS holding the world to ransom because you don't want your beliefs mocked. Just a tragedy innocent people had to die.

Very tragic. I am so tired of such incidents as well. In the long run, the French people just want to enjoy life to the fullest....get the most out of everything that they can. It's reflected in virtually everything they do and is something I really admire about the country. And, due in part to my experience, when you get them angry, they can become very agitated, if you will. They are passionate, and just like pride, passion can be a dangerous thing to try to tread on.

Not saying for a moment that I support the attacks, I obviously don't, but the last sentence is ironic considering charlie's work over the years. ..

Aye, they have always been very extreme satirists. But then, a lot of the great satirists such as Voltaire were French. It has been a part of their culture for a very long time.

Aye, utterly fed up of it.

That's it. They are a people who still have a lot of pride in their country, not necessarily a bad thing at all. I remember speaking to an elderly French man who told me that it is a much more balanced economy in some respects, the ultra rich are fewer as are the ultra poor and that it is nearly an entirely middle class country. As such, they all have a similar outlook about the nation and it's interests.

Interesting that every bookie has Costa odds-on for the golden boot, but he is far from seen as essential.

Well, he is getting steady goals in a sort of tame fashion. Not really shredding it up big time and hogging all the highlight reels. But, sometimes slow and steady wins the race, and that's where I think he could just as well win the boot.

On WC so if you could help me make my mind:

A - Get Debuchy/Jones and do a simple Costa to Aguero After.

B - Get Wisdom Now and do Sanchez and Giroud to Walcott and Aguero After.

Thinking about using the wildcard to create this squad next gameweek.

        Pantilimon / Foster

Lovren / Keane / Van Aanholt / Wisdom / Hutton

Hazard / Sanchez / Di Maria / Silva / Boyd

        Aguero / Costa / Kane

Thoughts? Yeah, the defence is weak but look at that attack!
