Before we draw a line firmly under the first Gameweek, we’ve decided to analyse some individual performances over the weekend. By looking at the Opta stats of Fernando Torres, we can see what his Sunday showing at the Britannia offered in comparison to his average displays for the Blues last term. The same applies to Robin Van Persie- no goals from the Dutchman at St James on Saturday night, but how did his game hold up?

In this first Members article of the active Fantasy season, we also take a look at Victor Moses and Ashley Young’s Man United league debut, weighing up what the pair’s new roles this season have offered so far…

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Here's where i am at the moment. Any tips?

    Given (Ruddy)
A Cole, Kompany, Senderos (Simpson, Da Laet)
    Malouda, Yaya, Moses, Hoolahan/Dyer
    Saurez, Rooney, Bent

Thinking i can rotate Hoolahan/ Dyer depending on fixtures, they rotate quite well.

      very different

I wouldn't take R.Johnson personally, he's in a much poorer team and the fact that you can get Young/Enrique/Evans/Shawcross for the same price means I think you can do better.

Midfield is light on a big hitter, but I'm not overly concerned. I think Silva will be fools gold this year. He'll do just about enough to justify his price but wont go over the top, I think you could get better value out of VdV/Toure/Nani.

Up front I think Aguero and Torres are both risks. Torres for large chance of rotation and Aguero until he finds his feet (plus fixtures are against him). I'd take one and then bring in a Rooney/RvP type. (Or try a value forward and then up a midfielder to a big name).

      Your bench is just rubbish.

I don't think you need to go to the drawing board, just make some slight alterations.

Your team is different, not wrong, so I'd stick to the basic premise of what you're trying - but remember to look for the best buys at a certain price range.

Also the Krul keeper bet is odd, I don't rate Newcastle to keep many more clean sheets.

          I would agree.

If I had to stake a claim on one, I'd go Torres.

I'm going with Rooney over either at the moment, but I have Lampard in midfield.

I just don't think its wise to have Aguero and Torres. Rooney + either one is fine.

Like it - has some balance ...
Only dislikes are Dempsey - Don't think he'll be playing OOP again this year will he? Must be better options for the price? Personally I think Downing is your man at 8.5.
      Krul? Why?
Swap Gabbidon for Simpson and Krul for someone else.

      Hope this helps 🙂

I really want to gamble on Holt, as it makes my defense and mid much beefier, but in all honestly their next 2 fixtures aren't great. Home to Stoke and away to Chelsea.

I think they will play very well at home, but basically just hoping for a home pk from Holt.

    thoughts?

I think Norwich are last year's Blackpool. Their defense may be weak, but they are capable of scoring a lot of goals. Can't remember for sure, but I remember Holt scoring 20+ goals and 15+ assists last year, so I think he's probably the best cheap forward out there.

    Given / Vorm
    Kompany / Enrique / Jagielka / Brown / Simpson
    Young / Silva / N'Zogs / Sinclair / Moses
    Torres / Suarez / Saha

Positive - Cover four of the top 6 attacks, defense rotates well around Kompany and cover Everton and Villa whilst they have good fixtures.

Negative - No Chelsea defensive cover, no Baines, Is A Young going to be Fantasy Goodness for UTD, N'Zogs is a bit fat and Saha is made of balsa wood.

He didn't do anything, well I don't think anyway, I didn't notice at least.

Marcello (sp?) chopped Fabregas right at the end and got a stright red, then the usual handbags from all the players and coaches. Although, it did look like Mourinho tried to either poke one of the Barca coaches in the eye, or twist his ear. It was a short clip, so hard to tell, but he then just stood there blowing his lips out to that Barca coach. Not much of an example set for his players.

    A) Baines,Hall,Silva,Surman,Aguero (Other strikers are Torres/Bent)

    -Better for GW4
    -Silva got shit fixures
-I don't feel like Surman will do much
-Aguero he has crappy fixtures and don't think he will perform until GW4
    -No liverpool coverage.

    B) Brown,Senderos,Malouda,Nzogbia,Suarez (Other strikes are Torres/Bent)

-Nice fixtures for next 2 GW's but crap for GW4
    -Malouda didn't look too good.

You'll have to downgrade somewhere....I've personally gone for Cech out of all this Chelsea madness, unbelievable the difference it made to my funds imo

we were discussing this earlier, prob will affect Yaya mostly as Mancini may operate him more defensively at the expense of De Jong/Barry or he may push Silva out on the left and Nasri on the right, but I think the former option is more realistic. Gonna be a headache for all those who downgraded Silva to Yaya to save that 1.5 now though!

    RMT please:

    Given

Warnock Baines R Johnson Kompany Cole A

    Sinclair Young (C)

    Bent Torres (VC) Fletcher

    Bench:
    Vorm
    Moses
    Formica
    Tchoyi

Yes, 2 in midfield, i figure clean sheets are the way forward, i hope! Any suggestions / comments?

    Notes:

I'm staying away from Man City attacking coverage until after gk 4, got Man Utd coverage with Young, Chelsea with Torres, Everton with Baines. Only concern is that i'm overloaded with Villa players. I just see Warnock scoring more points than my either one of my bench during this game week.

why bench Moses? I like your team though, similar to mine and a worth while strategy albeit a little risky...

Thanks. Yeah i agree it is a risk. I just think more creative players get punished in the new point scoring. Say a midfielder does 10 crosses in to 'good' areas, but those crosses arent successful, they'll score less points than a fullback or makes say 5 interceptions...

          Clean sheets are rare.

And that's why you target assisting/scoring midfielders.

Doubling on Aston Villa defenders? Not a good idea.
Can't see Wolves keeping a clean sheet against Fulham.
Captain Young against Tottenham? If you fancy Man U, Rooney is a much safer option.
      I'd start Moses (vs Swansea).

Maybe either Warnock or Johnson for Moses then in the starting 11? Villa were solid defendsively against Fulham away and i see Roger Johnson as a goal threat, maybe just flip a coin?!

Currently resting on this, what do you boys think?

    Cech
    Baines Brown Warnock
    Sessegnon Moses Jarvis Osman
    Bent Rooney Torres(c)

    Ruddy Formica S.Taylor De Laet

Opted for Cech over A.Cole to gimme a little more spends.
Doubling up on Everton, hopefully QPR will be as bad away as they were at home, conceding wise.
Gone heavy up front also, debating swapping out Bent for Saha and then boosting Osman...

Otherwise I think it's quite good, feel free to throw faeces...

was simply going to switch Torres>aguero in GW4 and Rooney>RVP probably as well, imagine most will do the same. Hopefully one of Rooney or Torres will rise enough for me to not have to worry about the rise of Aguero

Torres at home to West Brom, or Silva away to Bolton. Not sure why Silva is the 'safe option' there. Torres without a doubt, out of those two.

anyone thinking of going for rock bottom ferguson on fifth mid due to lack of decent option in the 4.5 -5.5 bracket? none of them tickle my fancy in the same way as the senderos and jose enriques of this world.

Seems better to make a mjor saving, spend that extra 1.5 on a decent fourth defender to rotate in, with ferg as 3rd sub.

      Ferguson = wasted space.

There are a boat load of options at 5.5, and Moses at 5.0, and Dyer at 4.5.

I have two thoughts at present, RMT's

    Option1:
    Given (Ruddy)
Bosingwa, Kompany, Senderos (Jose Enrique, Simpson)
Moses, Sessegnon, N’Zogbia, Silva (N Dyer)
    Saurez, Rooney, Torres
    (0.5m in the bank)

Or do I change Bosingwa to Shawcross and Silva to A Young/Nani, still 0.5m in the bank to cover price rises?
