Petr Cech has been ruled out of action for three to four weeks with a knee injury.

Andre Villas-Boas today confirmed his number one keeper will be unavailable for selection until the end of September:

“Petr Cech yesterday suffered a medial ligament injury and will be out for three to four weeks. It was the end of training, a normal training incident. He fell awkwardly with his weight on top of him. We expected much worse when we saw the incident.”

This should see him miss a run of fixtures that reads (WBA, NOR, sun, mun, SWA). Immediately this brings Hilario and Ross Turnbull into the equation. Hilario was on the bench for the game at Stoke last weekend and, of the two, looks likely to get the nod.

Both come in at 4.5 and with those next two home games in particular catching the eye, some Fantasy managers may be willing to turn their back on nailed-on, pricier options such as John Terry and Ashley Cole and take a punt- Chelsea are strong favourites to pick up clean sheets in both fixtures.

Cech will now be removed from the Watchlist in due course.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    How is my team guys?

    Given Vorm
    Komoany Enrique Simpson DeLaet ACole
    Surman Moses Sinclair Silva Sessegnon
    Bent Rooney Torres

What do you think? Would I be mad to captain Torres? Is Lampard a safer option?

For those people who slaved for weeks to settle on a team for GW1 and who werent affected by the login nightmare. What information did you get from GW1 to justify changing your team now at the second attempt? For me, if it wasn't for Baines actually playing games I dont think I would be making many changes. Maybe Hughes > Senderos. Possibly I may have picked Suarez knowing he would start the season. But did people really see enough from the likes of Torres and Aguero in 1 week to justify changing their original plans to accomodate them?

In the case of Torres, a lot of people were waiting for GW2 anyway to see who AVB would pick up front

I'm making very few, merely reacting to Everton actually playing, Chelski fixture run and, latterly Hilarious goalkeeping fiasco at Chelski.

I hear you brudda but what can we do? You feel obliged to make changes with a free wildcard to everyone. I was waiting on who would get the nod out of Torres and Drogs and then get them in for GW2 and GW3. Aguero came from nowhere though. Seen him play, maybe 10 times in La Liga but never seen him play like that.

I just dont think 1 week is enough. I put alot of thought into my original team and no half hour cameo is good enough to change that. Thats not to say Aguero wont end up being an fpl must have.

Malouda is not on form -> remove
Taarabt is possibly over-rated -> remove
Suarez is on form and fit
Torres is a changed man from last season

And it's a free wildcard, what's not to love?

Arguably only the Suarez point actually changed in GW1. The only question marks were whether he would actually start the season and he has. But Malouda and Taarabt didn't suddenly become overrated after 1 game, and surely the main reason for not choosing Torres in the first place (Drogba) is still there.

          Points well made.

I think Taarabt's stock also dropped along with QPR's. He went from being the best player in an up-and-coming side to being the best player in a side that needs to get its act together ASAP. (Players like Brunt become more appealing).

Malouda just didn't look as fit and sprightly as he could have, and falls victim to grass-is-greener syndrome.

The Drogba risk to Torres remains, as you say, but the rewards could be exceptional.

I can get on board with small like-for-like changes and tweaks, like losing Taarabt. But judging by some of the RMTs people are going for a complete restructure to accomodate front lines with Torres and Aguero. Like someone pointed out above, people may have been planning to get 'the Chelsea front man' (whoever it may be) in GW2 all along. So i guess my beef boils down to the Aguero bandwagon 😀

actually lots of changes. suarez is better value than carroll and more likely to be a regular pts scorer. RVP is stuffed without better service. rooney is the best MAn Utd attacker to have. N Dyer has proved himself to have potential. Aguero is a force to be reckoned with. Wolves look better for attacking pts than I would have thought. Henderson is preferred to Kuyt....lots of questions were answered.

toure is just as good as silva for pts.

i wish we didnt receive the free transfers up to gmwk2. had it planned to do rooney to torres/drogba. have now made 5 changes. i had rooney & 2 low priced forwards, i now have 2 high priced & 1 low. iv downgraded malouda slightly & downgraded hughes to senderos (might change that back) but for those 5 changes iv used 17 transfers... damn indecision 🙂

    No I have shoved Hilario between the sticks I have two potential options developing;

    1)Jose Enrique and Saha

    2)Baines and Graham

Me thinks Graham with two home games and also superstar Baines is a tasty option but have more certainty about 1 which could be a better safe option... thoughts??

Not me. Even when Chelsea's defence is still good, they can still be beaten, or concede with him. Remember the Community shield last year? 3-1. Okay, sure it was United and still Pre season but he didn't really do a good job and he hasn't played much, if not, at all since then.

Dilemma on captaining Torres is AVB needs to keep Drogba and Anelka happy too, so if Torres gets a well deserved goal you can see AVB bringing him off, and letting one of the other 2 strikers have a go. Will he ever be left on the pitch long enough to complete a 2 or 3 goal hike? Not sure.

And all this Anelka was upset to be on the bench at Stoke is trollox. Also, AVB is a manager of a professional football team, I really don't think he got there by believing you should take off goalscorers, IMO they are valuable don't you think?

He was on the bench against Stoke. If any game was right for Ivanovic, it was that one, and he didn't play. I can see Bosingwa starting regularly now to give Chelsea some attacking width down the right which they badly need. None of their right sided attacking players are naturally widely inclined. The all want to come inside.

Almost certainly, Turnbull isn't good enough, I don't know if Blackman is in the squad and Courtois is loaned to Atletico Madrid. Plus Hilario is our sub keeper so it makes sense. Also he was good in pre season, saved a penalty. Albeit he gave it away but still, yes it will be him. 99% sure.

Actually you may be right... cech was injured and they had made 3 subs

I think you only get points for the position you play in in FPL which is why you get OOP prospects doing so well like coleman last season

How many points do goalies get for scoring I wonder.. Foster went looking for one at the end of the west brom game last week

            Closer inspection of the rules.
Goalkeepers get 6 points for a goal.
It appears any player can get penalty save points as there's no player specific mention in there.
However I don't think that a player would get regular save points.

Yes well predicted but nothing can be done... bandwagons exist, there are unlimited transfers to allow a LOT of tinkering but doesnt really do much about the fact spurs play both manchester clubs in consecutive weeks and VDV looks like a bad option if modric leaves and they fail to sign adebayor as even if he is VDV he will not be able to carry the team on his back.. he played well with a good team around him last season

Bandwagon will hopefully fail at the weekend if it happens and hopefully wil improve my mini league prospects

Mods deleted a comment, for some reason it goes haywire when this happens.

Another 4 goal haul form Saha would be nice this weekend.

Question about price rises after Saturdays games.

Will Aguero's and Suarez's value rise regardless if they the play or not after 400K ppl buys him after week 1 ?

If price rise would not be frozen he would be +0.3 by now.
I want to know if those transfer we are making now will contribute to price flocculation's or will it be like a new start of the season?

Is anything confirmed about this ?

All transfers for these first two weeks will be reset to zero. Price changes will only take place based upon activity from SAT morning onwards.

Aguero will still increase a decent amount over the next couple weeks though, but not quite as much now that lots will have him this week.

Also, I think I had a price flocculation of my own back in '89 when I was looking through a bargin bin of vinyl albums at the record store. I stumbled upon a pristine Led Zeppelin Houses of the Holy and bought it for a buck. Wow.

        A: Baines-Lampard-Beckford

        or

        B: Lescott-T. Cahill-Torres
