Cech Out for Three to Four Weeks

Petr Cech has been ruled out of action for three to four weeks with a knee injury.

Andre Villas-Boas today confirmed his number one keeper will be unavailable for selection until the end of September:

“Petr Cech yesterday suffered a medial ligament injury and will be out for three to four weeks. It was the end of training, a normal training incident. He fell awkwardly with his weight on top of him. We expected much worse when we saw the incident.”

This should see him miss a run of fixtures that reads (WBA, NOR, sun, mun, SWA). Immediately this brings Hilario and Ross Turnbull into the equation. Hilario was on the bench for the game at Stoke last weekend and, of the two, looks likely to get the nod.

Both come in at 4.5 and with those next two home games in particular catching the eye, some Fantasy managers may be willing to turn their back on nailed-on, pricier options such as John Terry and Ashley Cole and take a punt- Chelsea are strong favourites to pick up clean sheets in both fixtures.

Cech will now be removed from the Watchlist in due course.

    How come Silva was favourite in the captains poll last week, got a solid 9 pts, and now only has 2% of the vote? Away to Bolton is tricky I guess but quite the difference!

      Get rid of Adam. He's way overpriced and won't be the one man team involved in every goal that he was at Blackpool. silva, yaya or nzogbia would be better choices.

      I'd have rooney, bent, suarez. Looking to upgrade bent to aguero in a couple of weeks. Villa have good fixtures at the moment, and Aguero may be in rotation while he's awaiting full fitness.

        agree with this - Adam looked a bit of a muppet at times against Sunderland, I can see why so many of the mods picked him to collect the most yellow cards now.

      Enrique's a keeper for the season, his price will only go up and hopefully Liverpool's defence gets some solidity when the rest of the team figure out how to play together.

      Suarez over either Bent or Aguero - seemed short of fitness and still caused havoc, Arsenal defence / team in general looks stretched. Will still be a tough game.

      Possibly Bent for this week, Aguero may take a while to hit full form and full inclusion in the team, though he could carry on how he started and you'd be kicking yourself.

      Keep Cole, possibly switch to Bosingwa and put the money elsewhere, but I'd keep him.

      I'd say yes, with Nasri coming in it could give competition to yaya. And looking at the performance from the weekend the Silva - Aguero partnership looks like Silva is gonna be bringing home the points

        Surely Nasri is competition for Silva not Yaya. After Kompany/Hart I would say Yaya is pretty much guaranteed to play as he is the only box to box player they have. Not to mention being a beast as well. I rate Silva as a player but despite Monday's performance I get the feeling he influences games without converting it fully in to points, he will dribble and the killer pass for someone to square to be tapped in from one yard collecting no points. Also with the jury still out on what makes a player accumulate high EA points its hard to tell if he will make it up in that department.
