Our Members got the first round of ICT Index Data at the weekend, enabling them to assess the statistical performance of players across three crucial disciplines – Influence, Creativity and Threat.

Week by week we’ll be using this data to analyse teams and players in an attempt to aid Fantasy team selection. Our first article for Gameweek One turns the attention away from City’s sparkling 4-0 win over Swansea and looks to the reigning Champions, examining how Alex Ferguson’s men performed in their 2-1 win at West Brom and assessing the key performers on show ahead of their Monday night meeting with Spurs in Gameweek two.

      I've got an answer.

      Baines costs 8.0. It might not look like a lot if you consider him a midfielder against the likes of Toure or Modric considering his record last year, but there's a bigger, deeper, underlying problem. He's a defender.

      Now the problem isn't that he won't score as well as a defender, quite the contrary considering the scoring system, but the problem is value. For 4.5 or 5.0, you can get very good defenders capable of high scores if the fixtures fall favorably.

      In midfield, you just don't have those options. Therefore, for the purposes of team value building early on, it's wiser to not have Baines so that your midfield and attack can be used more effectively.

      I've tried fitting him in, I really have, but this early on in the season, he hurts the rest of your team. You potentially save 3.5 by not having him and having the likes of Wes Brown instead. In forward terms, that's the difference between Suarez and Klasnic.

          The same except I have Bosingwa over Enrique.

          I think the Chelsea defense will be the best in the league this year.

              He's confirmed enough for me. If not, I can always switch to Distin for their upcoming double gameweek.

              Cole isn't worth his price for the same reason as Baines.

        My thinking was, VDV is involved in most spurs goals and as a result would get BPs in most games.

        Yaya over downing just playing the fixtures.

    dont understand why people are combining hilario and given in goal. they dont rotate well at all. Im going to pick one (probably Hilario) and then have either fulham, everton or norwich keeper (probably schwarzer). Am I wrong?

        maybe its just me. I dont like wasting transfers on keepers. Prfer to line them up for as many weeks as possible and use my transfers on players further up the pitch.

      I'm going Hilario and Given. Chelsea's fixtures are great short-term so he will play every game, then when Cech returns I'll start playing Given every week again (as I was initially planning on doing) and downgrade Hilario to the likes of Ruddy when I get the chance.

      Yeah he's a tricky one, frustrating player at times but AVB does see something in him, if he plays obviously he's a good player to have but nobody can be certain.

        Have .5 in the bank, to go hilario to given then warnock enrique... Anderson is tempting me though! Think he is going to have a nani style breakout season.. Ferguson hasnt played him in every game so far if he doesnt believe in him, If anyone is going to be dropped its Clev aswell, I do have a soft spot for Ando though!
