After a reasonably low-scoring Saturday (for me at least), we have three remaining Sunday afternoon fixtures to increase our tallies. And with the four most selected captains in action today, according to our poll, we have every chance.

The first of two televised games sees Roberto’s Mancini’s Manchester City play host to Newcastle United. The headline team news for the 1:30pm game is that Newcastle leave striker, and fantasy favourite, Andy Carroll on the bench for the first time this season. For Man City, Jerome Boateng starts his first league game and Adam Johnson is once again on the bench, despite scoring mid-week…

Man City: Hart, Boateng, Toure, Kompany, Lescott, De Jong, Barry, Silva, Toure Yaya, Milner, Tevez

Newcastle: Krul, Perch, Williamson, Coloccini, Jose Enrique, Ben Arfa, Nolan, Tiote, Barton, Gutierrez, Ameobi

Then, on the other channel, Arsenal travel to Stamford Bridge to play Chelsea at 4pm, where both clubs are looking to bounce back from defeats last week. Elsewhere, and not on the box, 18th-placed Liverpool take on 16th-placed Blackpool at 3pm.

As always, the Dugout Discussion will be with you throughout the day. Enjoy.

He'll score you one point instead of two, it's not a great deal.

If this was Drogba or Torres (which is going to happen to me later) or Malouda or Gerrard, i.e. one of the so called big players in a good fixture, one could understandably be upset.

This is going to be of very little difference, in all eventualities.

Yeah, but the concern I have isn't for today, but for other games. It's probably a one-off, but it still puts the slight doubt in my mind.

I shan't worry about it until I see it happen next week (or a week I seriously want to play him and get points), it's 1% more fearful, sure - but the next six fixtures are good so if this is just giving Ameobi a crack then so be it. Definitely not enough for me to do anything about it...

Are people going to go knee-jerking and buy Odemwingie away at United now, for example? Give it time; and patience.

Ameobi scored twice against Chelsea and played excellently, he's been a handful every time he has come off the bench and by many accounts Carroll is carrying a slight knock.
He'll be back in the first team before long, and England's next big hope is still Wayne Rooney - he just needs to pull his finger out.

I think Caroll is on the bench to keep his feet on the ground.

Hes been in the press this week saying "city better watch out" and all this stuff about england.

Maybe its gone to his head.

did you hear it? the noise was not nice. it's not a fait tackle if the other leg scissors in on the standing leg, playing the ball is irrelevent if you do that with the other leg, otherwise i could nick the ball away with one foot whilst punching the player with my arm and that would be deemed fair

de jong literally does it all the time. after he broke staurt holden's leg last year the dutch coach had a serious chat with him. unfotunately players like ben arfa will go into their sheel if you hit them iwth the first tackle so de jong obviously thought he'd do just that, unfortunately ben arfa's can't levitate so one foot had to be planted as de jong took out both

That is the mentality that is ruining the game in England. It was not studs up but you can't kick in with both legs the way he did. Ridiculous challenge. A bloody thug, De Jong.

To be fair to you it's a common attitude though, Wenger is ridiculed for pointing out there are too many ugly challenges allowed.

scissor tackles are dangerous. please don't play the 'if you had it your way it would be ballet' card. the leg which got the ball was fair, the trailing leg which de jong scissors and clamps into ben arfa's trailing leg is the issue. if de jong goes in with one leg fairly ben arfa would still have 2 legs, not 1 leg and a flopping dildo
