Having delved into the new data in our members section to assess Alan Pardew’s impact on Crystal Palace, we make our way to the Midlands to see how Tony Pulis is shaping up as the new man in charge at West Brom.

With three clean sheets in five matches – compared to six in the opening 20 Gameweeks – Pulis has helped his new side register two wins and a couple of draws, with only a home loss to in-form Tottenham dashing our Fantasy faith. In terms of personnel, we’ve seen Andre Wisdom shuffled onto the Baggies bench, with Chris Brunt utilised as a left-back and record signing Brown Ideye finally finding his form. Similarly, Saido Berahino, with seven goals in eight appearances in all competitions, has been transformed in recent weeks after falling out of Alan Irvine’s first-team plans. As the Midlands side brace themselves for some kind upcoming fixtures, we cast an eye over the numbers for signs of the so-called β€œPulis effect”.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Lifting some is the action of deliberately fouling an opponent most likely in a ball but plenty of man scenario.

A tube is best described as some little pox who needs to be deliberately fouled most likely because he recently felt your arse.

God this could run and run couldnt it.

Alright gents, in a bit of a pickle, any thoughts much appreciated. Thanks in advance guys.
    (2 FT's, 1.4m ITB)

    Panti - Krul
    Clichy - Zouma - Belerina - PvA - Wisdom*
    Hazard - Silva - Cazorla- - Coutinho - JWP
    Aguero - Sturridge - Kane

    Better use of the trannies?
    A) Silva and Cazorla ----> Sanchez and Mane
    B) Wisdom ----> Toby (benched for Pool)
    C) Sturridge ----> (C)osta
    D) Any other ideas?

Zouma might get dropped after Cahill performance + has a blank, so consider that to.

      How dropped is Wisdom really?

      Costa in before blank?!

Very good points Gaz, thanks for the insight.
Costa would be for captaincy though, it does have its merits, IMO.
You're right though, not the best of moves as a whole, cheers

      10 years, 10 months ago

Could live a little and do A. I like those transfers quite a bit, but it would put you in trouble for the blank. You'd basically have to do Wisdom out for GW27 instead of saving and then would only be able to get in one more DGWer without taking a hit - likely Eriksen. Depends really on who you want for the DGW and the importance you place on that. B and float the other is very sensible in it's own right and definitely the most conservative and "safe" thing to do I think.

      1. Zasa
        • 11 Years

Thanks for the response Walsh, and aye those moves do maximize the goal scoring potential in my midfield for sure. Agree with everything you said, solid reasoning and matches mine as well. Yeah would also have to take a hit to get Rose in for my 3rd DGWer, may not be worth it. It would have to be for Clichy as well, and am not too keen on that as City have great attacking fixtures for a while.

Got 2 FT and 0.7 ITB so thinking of shipping out Jones

Got Terry/Clyne/PvA/Bruce so thinking of downgrading of even picking up a Spurs defender.

    2) Cheap def (no idea who though so suggestions would be welcome)

I wouldn't get a Spurs defender before their blank, I would even question getting one for the DGW following, they're not in great defensive form.

Haidara, Bruce and Hutton are all good viable options for cheap defenders in the short-term.

I also have Jones and am considering keeping ... is there any news on his injury?

Yeah Spurs def really don't do it for me either πŸ™‚
May limit to ADM -> Eriksen (after blank) for their DGW.

Can i get some advice please chaps.

    Panti
    Terry Clyne Hutton
    ADM Silva Hazard Cazorla
    Kane Giroud Aguero (c)

    Krul Ward-Prowse Jones Baird

2FTs and 0.4 in the bank.

I don't really need to do anything this week, but thinking of using the FT to set myself up for next week. Can do something like:

    1) Baird > Haidara (nailed on defender for GW27) or another cheap defender guaranteed starting
    2) Giroud > N'Doye (chasing points)
    3) Other

    Thoughts please?

for a time i bet on sports professionally (to make a living). no one ever annihilates the bookies on a consistent basis. as an indicator, 60% hits on bets is considered the dream season. even among the vegas sharps and the runners, ive never come across anyone who has topped 60% before. to an extent it is more your money management that will determine your earnings rather than how many you actually win

After the recent comments regarding dirty tactics on the Sunday league pitch I just remembered a story my mate told me.
Corner was being taken and the forward jumped up to head the ball but the opposing defender grabbed the forward's goolies as he jumped. Somehow detached them from the body and blood was flowing. The forward's father was straight onto the pitch and was laying into the defender.
Not sure about the aftermath but I'm sure there was big trouble considering the defender was under 18.

Strange you brought this up. I experienced a similar situation during my youth days. It was a bit more graphic though.
My teammate landed with his cleats on our opponents testicles and it literately popped out of his sack. No joke. Shorts and socks covered in blood. Screams and tears from parents pervaded. Had to be air lifted to a hospital where they put it back in. Kid never played again. Needless to say, the game was called off and I will forever be haunted by those images. Freak injury.

    Foster

    Moses Mane Sanchez Hazard Ozil
    Falcao Aguero

If you had to use it I would be losing Falcao and Moses of that lot, although they are interesting differentials!

Play Fonte ahead of Moses perhaps with 4-4-2, otherwise can you do Cisse > Kane?

Can't think Cisse will get anything at City, and also wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't even start. Could see them going with Ayoze up top alone and trying to be more defensive. Falcao, yeah. Ugh. Am considering getting him out for Kane now since I can easily afford to bench him for the blank. Will give it a rethink with Cisse for the weekend though.

In 38 minutes he scored his brace vs Chelsea
In 28 he scored the teams only goal vs United
In 72 when he started, he scored vs Everton is their 3-2 win at home

Also scored a brace in 22 minutes vs Hull, 2-2 was the final score.
Just saying, I'd play for these next 2, IMO. Falcao is the weak link for me

Yep. He also got me one point off the bench for 9 minutes against Hull...so it's not all rainbows and smiley faces, but I get your point. If he's in line to start probably foolish to bench him.

I wouldn't be surprised in the least by Cisse starting and scoring. City have been so poor defensively of late. Would bench Moses I think. I can understand bringing Kane now to conserve transfers. Might be tempted by Bony in your situation though.

He looked very bright against Palace. His work rate and hold up play was solid by my eye, and I didn't notice him carrying any type of injury whatsoever. The main problem was that he had just one chance the whole game. He took it, but they didn't create much of anything so I am concerned about that at City being a much tougher game.

Great midfield, I gotta say mate. To be honest, I think you need Kane soon, very soon. Since you have only one blank player, it's a luxury you can definitely afford since Falcao

Gw27, most of the top teams have tough fixtures or aren't playing, I think, that Cisse and Falcao are good options that week for sure. Then with 2 FT's do Cisse/Falcao to Kane, and one of your mids to Eriksen? Do you want DGW defender in? If not, you may able to punt on Costa for this week, could give you a serious rank boost if he scores big mate

      1. Walsh

Yeah got Kane in at 4.8...sold on WC...missed out on 36 points in 3 GWs...didn't work out as I had hoped πŸ˜€ I am looking to try and get in Kane Austin and Eriksen I guess for the DGW. Just not sure on the order. I can do it without taking a hit only if I bring one of that trio in this week, though, which I am reluctant to do.

        1. Zasa
          • 11 Years

Aye, hard to gamble at his price and value, time to fold for sure. It was a tough choice though for sure, had a pretty tough run fwiw.

I'd definetly get Kane in now then and play him, he can hurt you this week for sure.
Falcao to Kane this week, and Moses to Eriksen before the DGW doable? I'd keep Moses and Cisse for Gw27 and then ship swiftly.

Sturridge has a great Gw28 fixture(BUR) fwiw, I'd get him if possible

So, Gw26, Falcao to Kane, Gw27, Moses to eriksen, albeit that would be a 352, no?
You would have to do Mane/Ozil to budget mid to do Cisse to Sturridge Gw28 though.

Yeah I like that, more or less. I will probably angle to do something along those lines. I can just so imagine Kane blanking in his easiest home fixture since I got rid of him πŸ™‚ But yeah, I think going without him any more is just a disaster waiting to happen as if it already hasn't been these last three weeks. Thanks for the input, mate.

Np man, and yeah man, you really can't bet against him. That would suck if he did blank though, but his form is just phenomenal right now.

I think you should work your way towards the Aguero,Studge,Kane frontline for Gw28 though for sure. It gives you (LEI, BUR, SWA), deadly fixtures for that GW and all three have great fixtures after as well. Can only realistically imagine Costa or Bony interrupting that trio in the near future in any case

Why not. You got a few issues next week but falcao is a waste of space this week and next week

Just as a fun exercise, I was contemplating what my "second XI" what look like ... i.e. the next best XI players who i don't currently own and would like to punt on. Looks like this:

    Lloris
    Ward Koscielny Cresswell
    Oscar Sigurdsson Mane Puncheon
    N'Doye Ayoze Berahino

    Costa (c)

Screw the BGW/ DGW planning... put your hands up \o/ He's such a dirty little unwashed scutterburg, it's too difficult not to πŸ™‚
I hate him and I love him in equal amounts.

Captain for the 10th time for me πŸ™‚ (Falcao -> Costa, 0.4 saved, was always the plan)

Oh I hate him big style but he gets the armband for the first time this weekend, if I don't chicken out and go for Kun that is.

I would have done Falcao to (c)osta if I could afford it. Selling Alexis and buying him back did away with all those precious funds in the bank though. He could come home with a double digit return easily with Burnley at home. They are just woeful defensively on the road.

Haven't searched for related comments. Does anyone have an estimate as to when we'll know CHE's DGW schedule?

Anyone flown from the UK recently? When your carry on bag goes through the xray machine, can everyone in the queue see the pictures or just the security guy?

I'd take it back out of the bag once I'm past the xray. Don't wanna go through the metal detectors with it as they'll make me empty my pockets.

You will be fine. There is no way that your fiance will see it on the screen. Only problem is if they do a random bag check on you and she is standing there next to you.

Nice one epic, they won't see it through the X-ray unless they are paying attention and a 'trained' customs official. Start a conversation to distract her just in case
