Our Friday lunchtime look of the PlayON Player Price List arrives once again, as the minutes tick down until another deadline. As always, we offer a couple of picks per position: one essential weekend target and a left-field alternative for your consideration.

PlayON have extended their deadline for submitting teams so you can now tinker with your starting XI right up until the first kick-off each week – tomorrow that’s 3.00pm, where as many as six of the Gameweek’s fixtures get underway.

Goalkeepers – Ben Foster
Five clean sheets in eight matches indicates the Tony Pulis effect is starting to set in at West Brom. Having registered back-to-back shut-outs against Swansea and West Ham, the Baggies pay visit to a Sunderland side that failed to score against travel-sick QPR last time out and with doubts hanging over the availability of Jermain Defoe, Foster, at 6.4m, and owned by 4% of managers, looks a very a viable option in goal this week. Everton have conceded just once in their last four matches after Willian’s late goal at Stamford Bridge ended a resilient run. The Toffees welcome basement-dwellers Leicester City to Goodison and Tim Howard will need to be on top form to prevent their new striker Andrej Kramaric from netting a third in as many appearances. The fit-again American (10% ownership) made six saves on his return from injury against Chelsea and is available for just 7.1m in this week’s PlayON Player Price List.

Defenders – Paul McShane
After Hull keeper Allan McGregor (7.1m) rewarded us with a clean sheet against Aston Villa last week, we turn to Steve Bruce’s backline once again. Paul McShane (6.0m) returned to the Tigers’ defence for the draw at Man City and was their highest scoring defender against Villa in PlayON – with a home clash against QPR next up, the 21%-owned defender could be in the points again as Hull look to repeat their 1-0 win at Loftus Road on the opening day of the season. Branislav Ivanovic’s fifth goal of the campaign at PSG in the midweek Champions League draw follows his recent winner at Aston Villa. A constant source of attacking threat, the Serbian should have plenty of opportunities as Burnley travel to Stamford Bridge this weekend – whilst a price tag of 9.6m makes the right-back (26% owned) an expensive option, his prospects at both ends of the pitch are too good to ignore as Chelsea go in search of a thirteenth shut-out of the season.

Midfielders – Francis Coquelin
The Frenchman has started Arsenal’s last seven league matches and averaged over 1,100 PlayON points in that time. Given that a maximum of 450 points is available for minutes played, Coquelin – despite of his lack of attacking returns – continues to benefit from PlayON’s Scoring Matrix, which rewards actions such as interceptions, tackles and clearance. Priced at just 6.4m for the Gunners’ trip to Selhurst Park, the midfielder (26% owned) looks set to offer excellent value once again. We return to Chelsea for our essential pick as Eden Hazard (14.0m) is drafted in for the visit of Burnley. With Diego Costa still looking for match sharpness after his recent three-match ban, the Belgian’s contribution could be key – already, over 46% of PlayON managers have snapped him up for this one.

Forwards – Daniel Sturridge
The Liverpool forward (13.2m) looks a real differential heading into the weekend deadline, with only 3% of PlayON managers currently selecting him up front. Whilst a trip to Southampton could, for many, be off-putting, Sturridge’s record of two goals and as many assists in six appearances since returning from injury, despite limited pitch time, demonstrates his ability to serve up the Fantasy returns. Although we had the likes of Sergio Aguero and Diego Costa as alternatives, we’re opting for Harry Kane as Tottenham prepare for the visit of West Ham. After serving up a total of five goals and three assists in recent matches against Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal, the youngster is one of the most fixture-proof players in the Premier League right now. Bearing in mind the Hammers have just been thrashed 4-0 at West Brom and triumphed in just one of their last eight top-flight fixtures, it’s no surprise that the 8.6m-priced Kane is currently the most popular option up front this week, with 46% ownership.

is it worth bringing costa in for this week even though i'd sell him again for his blank the week after?

Would depend on how many players you will have starting in the gameweek with the blanks. Would be better to buy and bench him if possible.

Very good idea if you have the FTs. I was planning to do the same but the need to make defensive changes has made it more difficult and in effect it would now be at the cost of a -8.

If I thought Rooney would be playing upfront in GW 27 I'd still do it. But the lack of an outstanding Costa replacement in GW 27 makes the -8 unattractive even though I would certainly captain Costa this weekend if I had him.

If you are taking no hits to do it and don't need the FTs saved for GW 28 I'd certainly make that move.

    Chelsea Fixtures (April)

I'm putting this here so I can find it when I need it. 😉 Others may be interested too. The fact that Chelsea have delayed the Leicester game until after the CL QF is no surprise really.

    Sat 4/4 Stoke (h) GW 31
Sat 11/4 or Sun 12/4 QPR (a) GW 32 [exact date depends on possible CL QF]
Tues 14/4 or Weds 15/4 possible CL QF 1st leg
Sat 18/4 Man. Utd. (h) GW 33 [depends on possible FA Cup SF involvement of Utd.]
Tues 21/4 or Weds 22/4 possible CL QF 2nd leg
    Sun 26/4 Arsenal (h) GW 34
    Weds 29/4 Leicester (a) GW 34
    Sat 2/5 C. Palace (h) GW 35

If Man. United make the FA Cup SF game the 18/4 game would need to be re-scheduled too. Most likely dates would be Weds 6/5 (GW 35) if Chelsea don't reach the CL SF or Weds 20/5 (GW 37) if they do.

If 2 of Chelsea, City, Arsenal make the semis then chelsea cant play 35 regardless of if they're in it or not.

Correct. Actually I don't think it can clash with CL anyway now that I come to think of it. In which case the re-scheduled Man. United game (if it happens) would have to be in GW 37.

I guess you are being sardonic (although that's not like you at all 😉 ) but actually he could be a very good punt.

        2012-13 23 goals in 39 games
        2013-14 11 goals in 28 games
        2014-15 3 goals in 19 games

Villa have good fixtures coming up and if Sherwood can get Benteke firing again (same as he did with Adebayor) he could easily get on a scoring run.

Thoughts on this plan in light of the Debuchy news?

    GW26: Bellerin -> Haidara (ensures 11 starters for GW27)
    GW27: Oscar -> Sterling (2 week punt for MCY/BUR)
    GW28: Coloccini & Santi -> Rose & Eriksen

    Foster
    Terry, Clichy, PVA
    Sanchez, Hazard, Silva, Oscar, Santi
    Aguero, Kane

    Myhill, Ayoze, Bellerin, Coloccini
    Bank 0.2m, 2FT, 1WC

We'll know them earlier though. I always intended GW 33 for my wildcard but it will somewhat depend on what players I have in my team then and what blanks they are facing.

A Chelsea DGW in GW 37 could be completely wasted from a FPL point of view. They may well have won the PL by then.

    Panti (Krul)
    PVA, Terry, Clyne (Wasi Baird)
    Sanchez Cazorla Hazard Mane (JWP)
    Defoe Aguero Kane

    1 FT, 2.4 ITB.

    Any suggestions?

Anyone still in UFPL and likes to do a loan, I've updated my fixture tracker with all TV announcements made through to the end of April:

It's also nice if you like taking into account the effect of European fixtures on squad rotation and the likes for regular FPL

Would anyone do Terry to Azpi to free up funds? Or is Azpi still not sure to play every week?

I would do it, and then reassess for the doublegameweek. If it looks like he's a risk, then swap back

Yup. Alternatively, I can do ADM to Ozil. Either means I play Austin this week though.

No chance of Arsenal going with..

    Coq
    Walcott - Cazorla - Ozil - Sanchez

    ?

    Too attacking?

      That's what I'd like them to do. I think there's a chance.

There is a good chance, won't put a percentage as it would just be made up but it's possible.

Yeah, I don't see how it's much different to having Ramsey in there where Caz is.. Except Caz can track back as well as pass the ball comfortably, which Ramsey has issues with a lot of the time.

Possible, but think Welbeck or Ox or Jack could replace one of them. Welbeck's tracking back balanced with another attacker on the other wing is the balance Arsene seems to like

        • 12 Years
        10 years, 10 months ago

        Jack's back?

I'd like to see this and us run out victors by 4/5 goals, but I don't think Arsene would do it. Too much pressure on Coq.

I think this is quite likely. Welbeck/Walcott fighting it out.... and then Rosicky in the mix too if he wants to go for more possession.

Who can beat this for dullest transfer of the week?

Out: Krul (who was to be on bench)
In: Rob Green (only to sit on bench)

[gettin him in to bench 26, blank 27, ahead of dgw 28 as I had nothing else of interest and didnt want to lose a FT]

Nice. I'd be doing the same with Myhill if I have the cash spare.

Feels annoying though. I normally like to see how my transfer gets on. Often captain them too. This geels very workman like. I know its a sensible move as its only way to get a dgw player in without losing a starter for week 27 (I'll be 11 and 4 blanks now - Green, Rose, Haz, Kane) but just seems so dull for a transfer.

As a cheap 4th mid, who would choose for this GW only?

Jordan ibe 4.4 sou or Ki sung-jueng 4.9 MUN. Ibe looks dangerous and confident, ki has siggy back and already scored 4 - other alternative is clyne LIV but I think pool will score.
    At present:

    Pants
    Terry Van Aanholt Cliche
    haz caz Sanchez Ki
    Aguero Costa kane

    Clyne Ibe Baird Krul

      hit = -4
10 man = lose 2 points assuming player blanks.

Key is whether the player you bring in can average better than 4.
