Our Friday lunchtime look of the PlayON Player Price List arrives once again, as the minutes tick down until another deadline. As always, we offer a couple of picks per position: one essential weekend target and a left-field alternative for your consideration.

PlayON have extended their deadline for submitting teams so you can now tinker with your starting XI right up until the first kick-off each week – tomorrow that’s 3.00pm, where as many as six of the Gameweek’s fixtures get underway.

Goalkeepers – Ben Foster
Five clean sheets in eight matches indicates the Tony Pulis effect is starting to set in at West Brom. Having registered back-to-back shut-outs against Swansea and West Ham, the Baggies pay visit to a Sunderland side that failed to score against travel-sick QPR last time out and with doubts hanging over the availability of Jermain Defoe, Foster, at 6.4m, and owned by 4% of managers, looks a very a viable option in goal this week. Everton have conceded just once in their last four matches after Willian’s late goal at Stamford Bridge ended a resilient run. The Toffees welcome basement-dwellers Leicester City to Goodison and Tim Howard will need to be on top form to prevent their new striker Andrej Kramaric from netting a third in as many appearances. The fit-again American (10% ownership) made six saves on his return from injury against Chelsea and is available for just 7.1m in this week’s PlayON Player Price List.

Defenders – Paul McShane
After Hull keeper Allan McGregor (7.1m) rewarded us with a clean sheet against Aston Villa last week, we turn to Steve Bruce’s backline once again. Paul McShane (6.0m) returned to the Tigers’ defence for the draw at Man City and was their highest scoring defender against Villa in PlayON – with a home clash against QPR next up, the 21%-owned defender could be in the points again as Hull look to repeat their 1-0 win at Loftus Road on the opening day of the season. Branislav Ivanovic’s fifth goal of the campaign at PSG in the midweek Champions League draw follows his recent winner at Aston Villa. A constant source of attacking threat, the Serbian should have plenty of opportunities as Burnley travel to Stamford Bridge this weekend – whilst a price tag of 9.6m makes the right-back (26% owned) an expensive option, his prospects at both ends of the pitch are too good to ignore as Chelsea go in search of a thirteenth shut-out of the season.

Midfielders – Francis Coquelin
The Frenchman has started Arsenal’s last seven league matches and averaged over 1,100 PlayON points in that time. Given that a maximum of 450 points is available for minutes played, Coquelin – despite of his lack of attacking returns – continues to benefit from PlayON’s Scoring Matrix, which rewards actions such as interceptions, tackles and clearance. Priced at just 6.4m for the Gunners’ trip to Selhurst Park, the midfielder (26% owned) looks set to offer excellent value once again. We return to Chelsea for our essential pick as Eden Hazard (14.0m) is drafted in for the visit of Burnley. With Diego Costa still looking for match sharpness after his recent three-match ban, the Belgian’s contribution could be key – already, over 46% of PlayON managers have snapped him up for this one.

Forwards – Daniel Sturridge
The Liverpool forward (13.2m) looks a real differential heading into the weekend deadline, with only 3% of PlayON managers currently selecting him up front. Whilst a trip to Southampton could, for many, be off-putting, Sturridge’s record of two goals and as many assists in six appearances since returning from injury, despite limited pitch time, demonstrates his ability to serve up the Fantasy returns. Although we had the likes of Sergio Aguero and Diego Costa as alternatives, we’re opting for Harry Kane as Tottenham prepare for the visit of West Ham. After serving up a total of five goals and three assists in recent matches against Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal, the youngster is one of the most fixture-proof players in the Premier League right now. Bearing in mind the Hammers have just been thrashed 4-0 at West Brom and triumphed in just one of their last eight top-flight fixtures, it’s no surprise that the 8.6m-priced Kane is currently the most popular option up front this week, with 46% ownership.

Quite a few of play FPL at work and I was mulling over transfers last GW with a friend at work. He'd already told me who he'd bought in so I was discussing the merits of bringing Defoe in for Giroud (had seen teamsheets), some quotes from myself to him:

"I'm only bringing him in because I can see the team sheet"
"Next week I'll wish I had Giroud"
"Who really wants Defoe in their team anyway"

    *transfers Defoe in at 19:26*

Of course all will be forgiven with a hat trick but it's amazing how often this game will make you go against your better judgement

I'd been planning that way for a while but not so keen now. Just going to play Eriksen and Kane for the DGW I think. Don't see the value in bringing in a QPR player and not a fan of the Tottenham defence.

The player that you bring in for Baird may get injured this week
      Baird may be recalled
WBA may get some injuries meaning that Baird is back in

I'm in the same boat, I'm tempted to just ditch Wisdom now to sort my bench a bit, but it will be good to have 2 FTs just in case (as it always is, we can't foresee injuries/suspensions).

    Folks, one last time (sorry!):

    Panti (Hamer)
    Clyne Ivanovic Terry (PvA Bellerin)
    ADM Hazard Silva Walcott (Boyd)
    Aguero Kane Austin

    2 FT, 1.6m ITB.

Need to get rid of one Chelsea defender and Austin by next week. Only gonna use 1 FT in the DGW and bring in Eriksen (don't see much point to double up on QPR or a Tottenham defender).

    A) Terry to Azpi and Austin to Giroud. Ivan to another defender (maybe Toby) next week.
    B) Austin to 7.8m and under striker.
    C) ADM to Ozil this week. Play Austin and do Austin/Ivan to Sturridge/Haidara next week.
    D) Boyd to Cork this week Play Austin and do Austin/Ivan to Sturridge/Haidara next week.
    E) Alternate ideas?

It's just for these two weeks really. Even on A & B, I would likely bring in Sturridge after GW 28 (would have the money).

      No way to afford Sanchez?

        • 12 Years

Can afford him if I want. Can do ADM -> Sanchez & Boyd -> Cork. Or downgrade Terry/Ivan for it.

Only thing about keeping Austin is that it would mean I play 10 players next week. Just to get him games vs Arsenal and Spurs (which are hard to see him doing well in). Think it makes complete sense to get rid of him before the DGW.

Captain choice is tough after looking at Newcastle's defensive stats in the last 6.

Think I will go with Aguero though as his ownership is lower than Hazard in the top 10k and I think more people will captain Hazard in the top 10k.

"Jermain is touch and go and there are a few in that situation, so it is important to monitor how they recover after training today to see if there are any issues, but hopefully they will all be there."

Do you think that's more on the touch than go side than go over touch?

Sounds like he'll start to me, I don't think Poyet will play him at any cost, he needs him to save his job.

Anyone think Bellerin could be rested against West Ham in GW27?

They play United on Monday, West Ham on Saturday and Monaco away on Tuesday. Can't really just say Chambers will play in the FA Cup any more considering how hard the fixture is, West Ham is the easiest game of the 3.

If Defoe has a chance, he will play imo. Not like thay have any other options.

but the other side of the join us that if he's not 100% do you leave him out to ensure he's ok for the remaining 12 games, or take the risk with him and have him possibly miss some of those games

Is it a good idea to do Krul > Foster with my 1FT??

I can see toon conceding a load and my ML rival has foster. Covering the threat.

    Krul (Elliot)
Bellerin Rose Van Aanholt (Wisdom Hutton)
Silva Hazard Sanchez Di maria (Walters)
    Aguero(c) Defoe Kane(vc)

    Panti (Heaton)
    Terry Jones Wisdom (Bertrand Wasi)
    ADM Cazorla Hazard Sanchez (Boyd)
    Aguero Kane Defoe

    1FT 1.2ITB

    a) Save the FT and bank on Defoe being fit
    b) Get rid of Wisdom and bank on Defoe being fit
    c) Get rid of Defoe for Berahino

    Help

not a Defoe owner but my two cents would be if that he's borderline and can run without discomfort, he'll play. this is a HUGE game for Sunderland. however, calf injuries being as they are, it could go ping within a few mins and owners will be left with 1 point. very much up in the air, vague comments from Poyet won't have helped. my gut says he'll start.
