QPR have a handful of doubts in defence ahead of Tottenham’s visit to Loftus Road. Gabriel Paulista faces two-to-three weeks out with a hamstring injury, but Wojciech Szczesny and Nacho Monreal could feature following late fitness tests. Elsewhere, Ron Vlaar and Steven Gerrard could return to action in the FA Cup, whilst West Brom duo Callum McManaman and Stephane Sessegnon remain touch and go.

Chris Ramsey is sweating on the fitness of three of his players ahead of the R’s London derby against Spurs. The former Tottenham head of development revealed that Nedum Onuoha, Mauricio Isla and Darnell Furlong are all doubts for Saturday:

“We’ve got a few knocks. Nedum has got a big cut on his face. Isla’s knee is sore. Furlong has a sore calf.”

Meanwhile, Sandro was brought off at the 55-minute mark as a precaution against Arsenal as QPR manage his return from a knee injury. Ramsey is optimistic the combative Brazilian will last longer than 60 minutes against the Lilywhites:

“Hopefully Sandro will be able to last longer than an hour tomorrow – it’s part of his conditioning process. He had to come off because we didn’t want to risk him getting injured again. He is growing in stature.”

Spurs, on the other hand, have no such worries, with Mauricio Pochettino confirming he has a fully-fit squad to choose from for the trip to Loftus Road.

Arsene Wenger confirmed in his Friday presss conference that January signing Gabriel Paulista will be sidelined for two-to-three weeks after he sustained a hamstring injury at Loftus Road in midweek. The Gunners boss also revealed that both Nacho Monreal and Wojciech Szczesny are undergoing late fitness tests, with the latter set to line up between the sticks for the Gunners’ FA Cup clash against Manchester United if he’s given the all-clear:

“Gabriel has a little hamstring injury and will be out for two to three weeks. He will not be available for the weekend or West Ham or Monaco. Monreal has a test today, everybody else will be available – the same squad who played against Queens Park Rangers. [Szczesny] has a test today. If he gets through that test he will play on Monday night. Wojciech is used to playing in big games and he’ll take that as a big challenge to show his quality. He works very hard in training.”

There are questions marks over the availability of West Brom duo Callum McManaman and Stephane Sessegnon for the Baggies’ FA Cup encounter with Aston Villa. McManaman remains a doubt despite training during the week, while Sessegnon has been given time off in light of unspecified personal issues.

Tim Sherwood is optimistic that Aston Villa captain Ron Vlaar will recover from his calf injury in time to face West Brom – the Dutch centre-back will complete a late fitness test ahead of the West Midlands derby. Aly Cissokho and Kieran Richardson remain benched for the Villains, but, in more positive news, Nathan Baker is said to be “a couple of weeks” away from returning to action:

We will wait until the very last minute with Ron. We are hoping he will be fit and add to the squad.

Mamadou Sakho was back in training yesterday ahead of Liverpool’s cup clash with Blackburn. Steven Gerrard has been nursing a hamstring injury since the 3-2 victory over Tottenham in Gameweek 25 but could be passed fit for the last eight match-up. Brendan Rodgers said the Merseyside talisman is set to be assessed in the next couple of days but cautioned that a player’s status is a non-factor when it comes to team selection.

“We’ve still got a couple of days to go yet with Steven, he’s obviously with the rehabilitation team. So we’ll assess it in the next couple of days. The team is playing very well, but it will be important just to get Steven back and available for selection – that’s the most important element. He’s very much a team player; if he was on the bench because the team is in good form and playing well, everyone respects that. I’ve shown in my time here that if players are performing well – irrespective of status or price – they play. Simple as that. But, for me, the most important thing in the first case is having Steven available. He’s an outstanding player still and to have him back will make our squad a better squad.”

I got him on this GW. 4 assists in 3 games for an international winger that Ramsey likes for 4.6 m. On frees and they need plenty of crosses to Austin or Zamora to have even the slightest chance of survival.

Thanks guys, that has sorted that out nicely.

Off to do the transfers. I like the Lloris red card and ideally both sides to score. Maybe Lloris could be red carded for throwing the ball in his own net then punching the ref.

    Good morning folks!

    Could anyone rmt real quick?

    Panti
    Clyne\ Terry\ Kosc (pva, wisdom)
    Hazard\ Sanchez\ Eriksen\ Moses (Puncheon)
    Aguero\ Kane\ Austin

I have been rotating Moses and Pucheon, and it has worked out really well. Wisdom got dropped, and so did PVA (at least for a while).

    FT:1
    MITB:2m

Im currently looking at these options, thoughts?

    A) Eriksen -> Silva (But Eriksen has great fix after United....)
    B) Wisdom --> Dawson
    C) Kosc -->Bellerin\Zouma
    D) Save transfer
    E) Austin ->Giroud

Ireland beat West Indies early on in the tournament.

How the mighty have fallen! I remember when the West Indies used to strike fear into the hearts of their opponents.

These days, the only hearts they strike fear into are the one's belonging to West Indies fans.

Once Ambrose and Walsh retired they should have just called it a day as a cricketing nation. Been a joke since then.

Grew up as a West Indies fan being from black and south American parents but they've been a total embarrassment for a good decade or more.

        Bat. Ball. Three sticks.

Man with ball tries to hit the 3 sticks.

Man with bat tries to stop man with ball hitting three sticks by hitting ball as far away as possible.

Repeat for 5 days and at the end of it decide no one is a winner and call it a tie.

At least the world cup is only 50 overs aside so you re spared the pain of watching the same thing happen for 6 hours for pretty much a whole week and still no winner at the end of it all.

The only game in humanity that literally goes on for 5 freakin days. They used to have a rest day on a Sunday too so the game would start on a a Thursday and finish on Tueday evening.

In fairness, I loved test match cricket as a kid. But the test format began in an age when there was no tv and no highlights packages so people went out and watched cricket cos there was naff all else to do.

The idea if playing a game for 5 days in a row was great in Victorian times. Nowadays we're used to having our entertainment in bite sized packages and the result delivered to us in a matter of hours so the one day format is thriving.

Funny now to look at all the resistance to Kerry Packer when he first launched the one day format in Australia and was laughed at when he said it was the future of Cricket.

Agree with all that...The three/four/five day format has put people of cricket for decades, as this post testifies...50 over cricket couldn't be more different...I takes a fundamentally boring game and turns it into one of the most exciting sports you could watch, at times.

Give me the ebbs and flows of a Test Match over the slogfest that is Twenty20 cricket anyday. Do enjoy one-dayers though.

Nothing beats the drama of a ridiculously close match that's been 5 days in the making imo. The pitch is massive in Tests though as a flat track is just horrible.

The problem with the dream scenario you describe, though, Billy is that invariant and inevitably it usually ends in a draw.

Nothing more annoying than a last wicket partnership that needs 80 to win but only needs to bat out the last few overs of a test match to get a draw.

Seriously, you've been doing this for 5 days and you can't determine a winner??!!

In no other sport would you play the same game repeatedly for most of a whole week and come away with no result. Its ludicrous and really has no place in modern culture.

There's room for Test Match Cricket and nothing beats an Ashes series in Australia in my book.

Staying up till midnight on boxing day, turning on the radio and listening to Test Match Special on Radio 4. One of life's great sporting pleasures.

Personally, though, I'd make Test Matches 4 days maximum and each team has a max of 100 overs. This nonsense of team one opening the batting on day one and still batting their 1st innings into the afternoon on Day 3 is just bogus.

        It's simple:

You have two sides, one out in the field and one in. Each man that's in the side that's in goes out, and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out. When they are all out, the side that's out comes in and the side thats been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out. Sometimes you get men still in and not out.

When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in. There are two men called umpires who stay all out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out.

When both sides have been in and all the men have out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game!

        😀

(sorry, can't take credit for that though)

One additional detail. The side that's in always has to have two men out at a time and when one of them is out he comes in and is replaced by another who goes out. When all but one play is out, both players who are out, go in. Not just the one who was out but the other one who was also out. That man stays not out.

      Shaun Wright Phillips laughs this.

He's spent six years non stop on the benchez of QPR and Man City and has been paid millions by both clubs to do so.

Pretty genius to get two clubs to pay you at least £65K a week to not play football for them.
