With Gameweek 28 finally coming to its conclusion yesterday afternoon, we take the chance to delve into the data over the 11 fixtures. City’s attackers, Liverpool’s playmaker, a pair of north London midfielders and the Hammers’ lone frontman are all amongst tonight’s topics.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Eriksen --> Mahrez (This Week) (Don't want to double up on Spurs)

Ameobi + P.Jones --> Downing + Cresswell (for a hit the week next)

    How does this plan sound?

      Awful imo.

You're basically doing Ameobi –> Mahrez for a hit so you don't have to play Eriksen. You're asking a mid with 2g4a all season to outscore one with 9g3a by 4 points just because he's playing at OT.

Why don't you want to double up on Spurs? Since the start of 2015 they've held the most goal threat (most attempts and goals)

Not sure your TV but surely you need a cheap fifth like Ameobi @ 4.3? Best keep otherwise your front 7 will be compromised.

Never heard of Mahrez. The other two trades make little appeal.

Back to the drawing board 🙁

Best result today for wc holders, man united win?

Shouldn't this mean that there's potential blank gw33 for qpr, villa, man united, chelsea and even hull & liverpool and then double for gw34?

United win would give Chelsea two DGWs in last 5 weeks, but everyone has 3x Chelsea already

But blank for them + many more teams just before dgw, would make it at least little more difficult for teams without wc.

          • 12 Years
          10 years, 9 months ago

Yeah, if you were going to hold any team, you'd hold Chelsea though.

Best result by far would be an Arsenal win, either tonight or via a replay.

The biggest issue for players without a wildcard will be the GW33 blanks. Coping without Arsenal and Liverpool players that week and yet having the right team for GW34 will be very tricky without a wildcard. Especially since a lot of bench players (Sunderland, Villa, QPR) will have GW33 blanks as well.

Disagree. Easier to cope with an Arsenal blank than a Chelsea one.

Only have PVA Cazorla and Sanchez to worry about so not too bothered can easily move these on or bench

While everyone seems to think 1-2 either way, I'm fairly sure it will be a draw. 1-1 for me.

I love how people on this site can confidently predict both the score and the goalscorers 😉

2-1, Rooney to score from a poor Mertesacker backpass after 17 minutes, Giroud to grab one back from a Sanchez through ball that controversially deflects of the referee on 52 minutes, before Paddy McNair grabs the winner with a 30 yard screamer on 89 minutes. Wenger is sent off for hurling pizza at Chris Smalling.

What have we learnt for next season so far

Fabregas is only good for the first half of the season
Stoke, in particular the defence, is only good for the second half of the season
    Hazard is essential always
Liverpool defence could be a viable option next season

          This.

This is the second season I have done this and it has paid off both times (by 0.1 - 0.2 mil)

However, it's worth noting that he seemed to trail off towards the end of last season...

I sold him when he got injured, he finished the season as you say, so it worked out. I keep wondering if I can get away with it again.

This question will depend a lot on the score in the double I guess but for those that still have a wildcard:

Did you save it especially for a dgw and are you happy you held it this long?
    What rank are you?
Do you feel in hindsight it could have helped you earlier in the season?
Are you usually someone who holds their wildcard?

    1. Dr Dream
      • 13 Years

Hard to see where anybody would have had an advantage from the first DGW/blank...I can't see it paying off for the next one either as folk are already planning ahead.

          This.

No Chelsea blank makes it easier. Could get 7/8 players with minimal hits. But if Chelsea have a blank in gw33 that becomes very annoying to plan for

      2. SPorting

Depending on the way the fixtures go, you could use your FT's to bring in 3 or 4 more DGW players and then WC to get a decent team for the last few games.

No reason why it should't pay off.

I am, quite frankly, astounded that I'm 11k at the moment.

Saved mine (still have it) for a big dgw or late in the season.
Rank now 1,5k (ish), happy I saved it, never felt I needed it really.
I pretty much always save my wc.

Yes anyone can plan for a dgw, but there will always be a couple of surprises and I know I can gain points before a dgw just coz I dont need to plan for it.

I used mine early in the season to sort out my team. I think this is the best time to use it if you need to as it sets you up for the whole season. Worked out well for me as i'm now sitting 85 in the overall standings.

And with good planning (ha, when does anything ever go to plan) I should be able to get 7 DGWers out even if Chelsea have a blank GW33. I'll have 4 DGWers on the bench (probably 3 chelsea plus a goalkeeper), one Leicester player (who plays GW33 and DGW34) and hopefully two free transfers to bring in two good DGW players. Probably wouldn't want more than 8 anyway, as that would mean having to sell/bench the likes of Kane, Aguero or Silva.

I always hold mine in anticipation of a juicy DGW and take hits early if I need to.

Currently 400ish overall and have had a good boost in previous seasons.

I think you gain more of an advantage by holding as you never know what could happen with DGWs in any season. It might not pay off this season but it would be the first year in 5 if it plays out that way.

I dont have mine, but I firmly believe that unless you get off to a decent start and are hence able to save it that its better spent at the beginning of the season to avoid falling too far behind.

      Current rank 2.6k

Ive only once managed to save my wildcard and it was in one of my not so good finishes and it didnt help much!

    Hello all

Few questions on a depressing Monday morning!

Foster - will he keep his place? He was terrible against Villa in the Prem.

    Wollsc - any news?

Lost my watch at a party once. Saw a guy stepping on it while sexually harassing a girl. I walked up to the dude, punched him straight in the nose. No one does that to a girl, not on my watch.

Initially read that as you saw a guy stepping on your watch whilst you were sexually harassing a girl. Don't think your grav helps.

    bertrand, bellerin, wolly (clyne, was)
    caz, haz, eriksen, silva, sterling
    austin, aguero, kane

    1.considering -4 for caz+sterling >>sanchez+puncheon
2.thinking benching one of bertrand+clyne vs chelsea away.
3.maybe even benching hazard vs mean shampton defence...

    thoughts?

So you want to bench a SOU defender then not play Haz because the SOU defence is so good?

Shame there doesn't seem to be a simple way to view the league of leagues any more. Or graph team performance within a mini-league. I liked those features.

          Yeah I agree GW.

I'd prefer if they took the average of the top 5% or 10% rather than top 5 as it would give smaller mini leagues a chance to feature.

England are a mess at the moment in both formats of the game. We just haven't built on how good we were a few years ago, it seems to have crumbled since the Test victory over India in 2011.

Maybe ye should just take a few more of the Irish players? If ye keep denying Ireland full test status and don't let Ireland play exhibition matches v full member countries ye will be able to keep nicking players from there.

There is always the possibility that ye are not casting the recruitment net wide enough. Maybe ye should get more aussies Indians and south African players etc?
