Our final instalment of this week’s Watchlist articles sees us switch attention to the forwards. Four goals in his last four appearances mean Oliver Giroud continues his ascent towards the top of our recommendations for the next four to six Gameweeks. Following the news of a double Gameweek for Aston Villa, the timely return to form of Christian Benteke also sees the Belgian force his way back into our thinking, whilst Charlie Austin remains on simmer.

Tottenham’s Harry Kane retains top spot in our rankings with Mauricio Pochettino’s side facing a favourable run of fixtures (LEI, bur, AVL, new) over the next four Gameweeks. The 6.3-priced forward has blanked in two of his last three starts, but has registered the most shots from inside the box (19) among forwards over the last six Gameweeks and continues to offer outstanding value. Interestingly, Kane currently leads this week’s Captain Poll ahead of Sergio Aguero with 37% of the vote.

Olivier Giroud rises to second place in our latest update, having established himself as the form forward over the last four Gameweeks. The 8.4-priced Frenchman has averaged 7.7 points per appearance over that period, and with the Gunners next three matches (new, LIV, bur) before the blank in Gameweek 33 offering hope of further returns, his current goalscoring run could continue for some time yet.

After failing to find the net in his first two outings following a return from suspension, Diego Costa rediscovered his goalscoring touch against Southampton last weekend. The Chelsea man now faces a very kind upcoming schedule (hul, STO, qpr, MUN, ars/lei, CPL), and could shake up our three-man frontlines if he can return to his early-season form. It is worth noting Costa again failed to register any bonus points against the Saints, and has now only earned 14 bonus points over the course of the season, compared to Kane’s 28 – that’s despite scoring two more goals (18 to 16) than the Spurs man.

Sergio Aguero falls in this week’s ladder after suffering blanks against two of the bottom three sides in the last couple of Gameweeks. The Argentine’s confidence won’t be helped by a missed penalty in last night’s 1-0 defeat to Barcelona, and while the upcoming fixtures (WBA, cpl, mun, WHM, AVL) are still in his favour, another failure this weekend may force a rethink among Fantasy managers as we begin to plan for the pending double Gameweeks. City’s move to 4-4-1-1 at the Nou Camp could boost his potential, though, with Aguero tending to produce the goods when fielded as a lone striker.

QPR’s Charlie Austin is a non-mover in our latest update by virtue of the double Gameweek 31 announced on Tuesday. Back-to-back blanks may have had owners thinking of an exit strategy, but with a home clash against Everton followed by trips to West Brom and Aston Villa, he is likely to earn a stay of execution for now. The 6.4-valued Austin does lead the way with 22 goal attempts over the last four Gameweeks, so owners will be hopeful he can add to his impressive tally of 15 Premier League goals.

The other forward sure to be targeted for double Gameweek 31 is Christian Benteke. The Belgian looks revitalised under new Villa boss Tim Sherwood, and has racked up 25 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) points in his last two league outings. With Swansea visiting Villa Park this weekend ahead of the double Gameweek (mun, QPR), the 7.4-priced option looks a very appealing short-term differential, given his ownership of just 0.9%.

With so much competition for places in our three-man frontlines, the likes of Daniel Sturridge and Wayne Rooney are struggling to grab our attention right now. The Liverpool forward earned a fortuitous assist in the 1-0 win against Swansea, but still appears to be lacking a little sharpness. With Man United and Arsenal up next before the schedule eases (NEW, hul, wba, QPR), Fantasy managers may take a watching brief before investing in the 11.2-rated forward. Rooney seems to be revelling playing as a lone striker over the last three Gameweeks, scoring three goals. But with a tough upcoming schedule (liv, AVL, MCI, che, eve), there look to be better options out there, particularly given his 10.6 price tag.

West Brom’s Saido Berahino falls this week mainly due to the fact Austin and Benteke look better bets for the next two Gameweeks. The England U21 international is in good form, having netted in three of his last five league appearances, and also faces plum home fixtures against QPR and Leicester in the next three. But the Baggies have managed just 53 goal attempts over the last six Gameweeks, fewer than any other Premier Leagues side in that spell, dampening Berahino’s appeal somewhat.

After registering his first double-digit haul of the season in the 3-0 win against Newcastle, Romelu Lukaku jumps a couple of places this week. The Toffees have a mixed upcoming schedule (qpr, SOT, swa, BUR, MUN, avl), which may deter any would-be suitors off, but the Belgian is worth monitoring, bearing in mind he seems to have snatched spot-kick duties from Leighton Baines.

While Diafra Sakho drops in this week’s ladder, it isn’t time to give up on the Senegal international just yet. The 5.4-valued forward has registered 17 shots from inside the box over the last six Gameweeks, the third highest among forwards. With a favourable run of fixtures (SUN, lei, STO, mci, qpr, BUR), Sakho could yet be a Fantasy asset during the final months of the season.

Leicester’s Andrej Kramaric keeps his place on the Watchlist despite concerns over his playing time. The Croatian international has been substituted after 57 and 60 minutes in his last two league appearances, and has only scored once in seven Premier League matches. But with the most favourable schedule over the next six Gameweeks (tot, WHM, wba, SWA, bur/CHE, NEW) according to our Season Ticker, we’re keeping faith in the 5.5-priced forward for the time being.

People who own both Foster and Myhill,
Are you simply letting Myhill step in? Or tempted by Guzan for the DGW? Basically it's £0.1m and 1FT to make:

    GW30 - (mcy) become (SWA)
GW31 (QPR) become both (man) & (QPR)

    GW32 & GW33 - play Myhill then use WC

    Silva / Sanchez / Hazard (C) / Eriksen (Albrighton)

    Kane / Aguero / Austin

    2 FTs. 2.2m in bank

    Thinking :

    b) Also tempted with Zabaleta in for PVA though City not playing well, would expect them to improve.

    Hi all

Just thought I'd share this here as well, as the other article was very quiet!

    Hi all

I've just spent a little while assessing the goals conceded and shots conceded (in and out) stats in comparison to the captain decision for each week.

I've looked at the main captain choices and how their opposition fair defensively to try and see if the 'obvious pick' based on defensive stats leads to the most points.

Tracking back three weeks I thought I was onto something, but two weeks prior to that have skewed it somewhat.

What's the best way to share this data? If anyone is actually interested?!

These two tables may give you what you are after

This by jonesb1987 looks at poor defences...its a global filter so feel free to sort by most recent or home or away

                http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/public-stats-tables/view/8634/

Then combine that with this one I did on attacking players - shots in the box is my key stat for this

                http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/my-stats-tables/view/3295/

Once again it has a global filter.

Thanks, but this is only for the last 4 gameweeks.

The stats I collected were for the relevant 4 gameweeks to each week, if that makes sense?!

Its a global filter...you can make it for four matches, home, away, whole season, what ever field you want...even for a gameweek range.

Yes, but you can't look at different ranges of gameweeks at the same time, can you?

One way would be to open the same table in two boxes on your computer...one with one gameweek range, one with the other.

If you want to compare gameweek ranges for the team then you can do that in the team comparison tool section here

                        http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/comparison/teams/

So for example you could compare Newcastle Gameweek 20-24 with Newcastle Gameweek 25-29

I have already created my own table. It has:

                        - Player
                        - Opposition
                        - Opposition defensive stats for previous 4 gameweeks
                        - Points total for the week
                        - Team goals

I have done this for the previous 5 gameweeks.

Just thought it'd be helpful to share it with you guys!

That defensive one has a goal attempts in the box conceded column. So using that and cross referencing with those players with good shots in the box stats should give you a good indication of key attackers v poor defences.

Thanks, but I was trying to ascertain what would have happened if I had used these stats to select my captain for the last 5 weeks.

So the 4 gameweek range is a moving beast.

You go to create table. I do it all the time. Get the stats in line you wish to share. The will be a drop down bar to choose the options you wish to share. Eg choose shots conceded in the box, headers conceded, big chances and chances conceded etc.

Yes, but for GW 28 I took the defensive stats from GW24-27, and for GW 27 I took defensive stats from GW23-26 and so on...

                  Can you do that?

Yes ...in the range at the top you can choose gameweek range and then select the range you want.

Yes, but if you want to review 5 weeks worth of data, you have to run each range separately and note down the data yourself, agreed?

Depends what you want to share and what is your source. Stats like shots conceded(in and out), error etc are available on Sqwuaka and whoscored I guess, so sharing that should be fine.

You think that makes a difference?

He was on the bench last week. My best guess is that Pearson will stick with Schwarzer's experience - after all that's why he was brought in.

I'd be interested to have your take as I'm actually looking at Schwarzer at the moment.

Do i think what makes a difference?

He was on the bench and then played for the U21's, so wasn't ready for a full league start. Now it looks like he is.

I think he'll go back to Schmeichel, but might not be this week as they kept a clean sheet.

I read the article and was asking if you think what it says makes a difference. Basically it's the same situation as last weekend except Schmeichel has now played an U21 game, right?

My peculiar interest is because I am thinking about bringing Schwarzer into my team. 😉

Yes, he's been getting his fitness up and is now in a better position to push for a start. No idea who Pearson will pick for the rest of the season, but my gut feeling in Schmeichel, who only really lost his place due to injury.

Not crazy about picking up Benteke. Fixtures suck right after DGW. Do you have your wildcard? Mane has a great fixture run and I would pick up with either Giroud or Costa instead of Benteke unless you need differentials up front.

    2 FT and £1.8m ITB

    Forster ( Krul)

I had planned to do Austin>Gitoud/Benteke but with QPR DGW, Will stick with Austing for next 2 GWs.

Chelsea have scored 58 goals this season to Spurs' 46 and I expect them to find their goalscoring form now.

Also, Spurs' aren't a free scoring side either. They don't usually score more than 2 goals a game. In a game where both are equally priced and we have no idea about baps, I'd pick Costa
