With a double Gameweek 31 just around the corner, we take time out to analyse Tim Sherwood’s impact at the Aston Villa helm so far. In terms of results, at least, it’s been a mixed beginning for the new man in charge – in addition to seeing off West Brom in the cup, Villa have won two and lost three of his first five league fixtures, scoring seven times in the process.

Bearing in mind that the Midlands side had notched two goals in the ten Gameweeks prior to Sherwood’s arrival, though, it’s fair to say that he’s improved their prospects in the final third. Shifting to a two-man frontline and bringing Scott Sinclair and Charles N’Zogbia out of the cold and onto the flanks, the new manager has transformed the fortunes of Christian Benteke and Gabby Agbonlahor, with the duo both scoring three times in the last trio of league fixtures.

As Villa prepare to face United and QPR in the next round of fixtures, we turn to the new team data in the members section to ascertain whether there is such as thing as “the Sherwood effect”.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Should I do do Giroud to Costa (for fixtures) or stick with Giroud for now (for form)?

    Really confused.

Stick. Costa is injured, might miss the Stoke game.

get rid of Giroud in two weeks time, Burnley are a good fix to have and Costa could still reach his 10th yellow

"Probably he deserves more than what I give him. Sometimes, not many times, a coach can feel he owes something to a player. With Remy that is the case, I think I owe him something."

"Every time he plays he gives us a lot. I'm so happy for him because he deserves it. He never complains."

Looks like he may get more games?

Looks like it, and probably the easy matches where we want Diego Costa to play.

Plus the threat of 10 YC before United and Arsenal likely makes him rest Costa next game.

He only has to avoid a booking in one of his next two and he's got nothing to worry about.

If Costa is fully fit he will most likely play, at least until the title is settled. Probably after that too, the club would like to help him finish as top scorer in the PL.

But I don't expect Costa to play against Stoke, Remy will probably start that game. My best guess is that we see Costa back against QPR.

Remy can also play behind Costa but once Costa is fit he'll more likely be used as a sub. Although there is an outside possibility he could take a start away from Costa in the Chelsea DGW.

assuming no injuries, what should i do with my 2 FTs? 3.0itb

    ---------------Myhill
    ------Terry - Clyne - Fonte
    Haz - Sanchez - Silva - Eriksen
    ----Aguero - Kane - Austin

    Morning guys,

I'm thinking of bringing Caulker in for this week.

    Pros:
    - DGWer
    - 2 FTs, so have to use one up
    - Need to get Bellerin out anyway
    - Have WC so is only temporary

    Cons:
    - It's QPR

    What do you think?

I already have Hutton and I wouldn't recommend it. He is not nailed on for both fixtures which could be a problem and wouldn't rely on a sherwood team for CS!

Yeah, they haven't really relied on Forster at all tbh. They defend well as a team.

FAR better option than a QPR defender regardless of the DGW imo.

Well they have Gazzaniga as backup as well. Don't think they can recall him at this stage of the season. Davis pretty much nailed on!

It can but they may want to cultivate a good relationship with Bournemouth. They are very close geographically so they're ideal for loan moves. It matters a lot more than it used to do.

Only for exceptional circumstances (i.e. only one fit GK) I believe. They knew the risk when the loaned him out.

People are still saying Boruc can be recalled but they don't do any basic research before posting ill-informed opinions. It is impossible under FIFA rules without a special dispensation from FIFA.

FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players

6.1 Players may only be registered during one of the two annual registration periods fixed by the relevant association.
10.1 Any loan is subject to the same rules as apply to the transfer of players.

Boruc is currently registered to Bournemouth. He can't be re-registered to Southampton unless special dispensation is given as it is outside of the transfer window. Special dispensation is usually only given in the case of extreme emergency (e.g. a club has no senior GKs available). No grounds for special dispensation appear to exist in this case.

You asked me to take an Aussie name. "Bill the Battler" is the name of a (fictional) Aussie politician featured in the film "Muriel's Wedding".

    Guys
I have FWD line of Kane+Aguero+Giroud
    2 FT
    Worth doing
1)Aguero(cpl)-->Costa(sto) for free if Costa passed fit
    or
2)Sort my poor defence of 2 Hull Defenders in Terry Rose Hutton Mcshane Bruce
    0.7mn in bank

As we approach the end of the season, the teams that are struggling for Europe or survival are going in every game on all or nothing so every year last 10 games have little number of CS's, so i wouldnt recommend you to invest in expensive defenders, or maybe one, Ivanovic, because he is very attacking and can easily score or assist, and all other shouldn't be more than 4.5-5m. I would recommend (if you have enough money) Ivanovic, Bellerin, Alderweireld, Noughton, Dawson.

If you can you can double southampton, wba or swansea defense with their GK (Davies K, Myhil or Fabianski).

Thi s has the looks of a move that seems good on paper. greedily eyeing all those possible points, but then you find yourself kicking yourself that you didnt just keep Giroud

makes an awful lot of sense... Arsenal 2 tricky games and a blank in the next 4. The only decent fixture being Burnley away and even they've surprised some big teams this year!

If you have the transfers spare, go for it - otherwise just direct to Costa.

I can't see any rationale behind getting rid of Giroud, arguably the most in form striker in the league (alongside Kane obviously).

Just remember that Arsenal is in superb form and that Skrtel is suspended, so i wont sell Giroud, although i thought to change him for Austin for gw and then get him back, but when i heard skrtel is suspended i didnt have any doubt more.

His form is my main dilemma.

I can do Kun to Benteke to Costa instead but I'll have trouble fielding a full GW33.

Just forget about Benteke altogether. He's not worth 2 FTs to get in and out and one of his games is against Man Utd away.

It's entirely possible Benteke gets a 4 pointer this GW.

I'd save the FTs personally and just go Giroud > Costa after Burnley and before the Arsenal blank.

Looking at this at the moment:

    Forster (Gilks)
Terry - Naughton - PvA (Koscielny - Dawson)
Cazorla - Hazard - Mane - Eriksen (Boyd)
    Giroud - Kane - Aguero

    1FT, 1.9 in bank.

Dawson obviously out suspended for the next match so thinking of doing Forster to Myhill for WBA cover over next couple of GWs. Anything else more pressing?

The match with United may have cost Liverpool their chance at top 4...not just because of the result but going forward now without Skrtel, Gerrard, Sturridge for a few matches.

Difficult to be built on solid foundations with Daniel Sturridge leading your attack I suppose.

Clearly Villa offer much more of a threat under Sherwood then they did under Lambert. That said, Craggy Island All-Priests Over-75's five-a-side team offered more of a threat than Villa under Lambert.

Still not going to bring any of their players in.
