First of all thanks for adjusting so well to the changes made this morning. Today was like any other Saturday, very busy, and that was important to test whether the Intense Debate system could help us solve the issue with the server going down under the Fantasy Premier League deadline strain.
The very good news is that it did. We had no issues with the server at or around 11.30 this morning. In that sense then, the new system is a big success.
There are however bugs that we will either have to get used to or push for fixes. As the system is controlled by a third party, I can only report the issues and hope that they respond with fixes. I have already been in touch and hope for a response to some of the issues we’ve had early next week…
Reported issues include:
- The paged comments reverting to page one on a refresh
- The Jump To not working in the right-hand panel
- Replies always collapsed by default, we’d like them expanded.
- Some users having issues with the system logging them out (I’d like emails if you are affected by this so I can deduce numbers)
- Some users having comments not appearing due to the spam filter (this is getting better as I manually approve users).
Regarding the latter point. It seems that posts listing team lineups are always caught as spam due to the nature of the post – the fact that they are long lists of names separated by commas and spaces seems to trip Intense Debate’s spam filter. Experiment with different presentations if you wish to post lineups, at least until I query this with Intense Debate.
Right now I’m toying with the idea of reverting to the old system after this evening so that I can investigate fixes for some of the issues above. I’d appreciate your thoughts on this. Do you want to revert back temporarily until we at least have some of the issues ironed out or do you want to persevere?
Mail me at mark@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk with your thoughts and any bugs or problems not listed above.
Thanks as always for your support for the site.
