What a week it’s been, in fact it’s been the ultimate differential gameweek. As the pair of us came under starters orders, Mark immediately fell behind with a gutsy 16 point transfer spend. As for me, I banked on Fernando and splashed out on the double bees, Bullard and Bale.
Then came the devastating news that point churners Drogba, Arteta and Rooney have gone AWOL, leaving us exposed to our bench warmers. Banking on Chelsea against the leagues best defence and Arsenal at fortress St Andrews wasn’t the scenario we had in mind.
Against all expectations however, we both notched up a gameweek with fortitude, skill and a sprinkling of good luck. Captain Lampard, with good support from his lesser lights helped me rack up a giant score whilst Mark’s risky investment came good and then some. Thirty-two arduous gameweeks in and the rivalry is back on. My words of “We Shall Never Surrender”, the defiant vow that seemed graven on my own soul, may yet ring up an unlikely victory with just a twenty-odd points between us.
Get a taste for our revived rivalry along with our rant on the nonsensical auto-armband that saw thousands frankly get out of jail with their captain selection. Bitter? You bet I was.
