The Gameweek reaches a conclusion tonight with three fixtures and a cast of heavy-hitters on show. United’s twin strike force of Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie are clearly the headline act, particularly in the wake of Santi Cazorla’s blanks over his two double Gameweek fixtures. That pairing look to be leading the attack for Sir Alex based on the teamsheet on show. Elsewhere, Chelsea’s glittering array of talent are also in action in a West London derby at the Cottage, while City continue to fight for pride and points as they host fellow FA Cup finalists Wigan in a dress rehearsal for the May showpiece.
Our Dugout Discussion chatroom is now open to accept all-comers. Take your seat for some real-time interaction while the final collection of Gameweek points come rolling in.
As mentioned, it appears that Rooney and Van Persie will work in tandem at Upton Park, as Sir Alex Ferguson makes just one change – drafting in Rafael for Javier Hernandez. Rooney looks set to shift to his traditional forward role, then, with Phil Jones all set to occupy the engine room. West Ham also make just one change: Winston Reid makes a return at the back for James Tomkins.
Over at the Cottage, Martin Jol shuffles again, recalling John Arne Riise and starting with Mladen Petric as Kieran Richardson makes way and Damien Duff misses out through injury. Rafa Bentitez also makes changes from his FA Cup semi-final lineup, with John Terry, Frank Lampard, Victor Moses and Fernando Torres in for Cesar Azpilicueta, Mikel, Oscar and Demba Ba.
Finally, over at the Etihad, Roberto Mancini rests both his full-backs as Pablo Zabaleta and Gael Clichy are given the night off – Micah Richards returns from injury at right-back, with Aleks Kolarov lining up on the left. Matija Nastasic also misses out as Joleon Lescott is given the start alongside skipper Vincent Kompany, while Javi Garcia is in for James Milner who drops to the bench; Joe Hart returns in goal. Visitors Wigan bring back Joel Robles in goal for Ali Al-Habsi, while Franco Di Santo gets a start ahead of Callum McManaman who drops to the bench.
