The Community Round Up

Tottenham’s new recruits and the start of the Champions League group stages were among the hottest topics being discussed by the community over the international break. We also find out how FFS UEFA’s transfer window simulation game concluded and welcome aboard a new moderator to the Fantasy Football Scout team.

Hottest Topics

Tottenham have so many new arrivals following the close of the transfer window that it is hard to keep up with their likely starting XI. Luckily our resident video expert Brutus619 had his finger on the pause button to analyse attacking midfielder Erik Lamela’s displays and assess whether he is the real deal as a Fantasy prospect.

Robin Van Persie continues to divide the community, with one group of players set for glory, while the other bracing themselves for  disappointment. BigFatFrank has decided to give those wildcarders looking to shoehorn the Dutch striker into their team a step by step guide to creating the perfect RVP team. Meanwhile, 7 Shades of Smoke has ben debunking the popular “keep calm and captain RVP” mantra and wondering if it is nothing but a myth.

Elsewhere,Iain_90 ponders whether there’s any weight to the theory of “attacking coverage” across the most offensive teams or if it’s best just targeting certain individuals.

Bonus points and their sudden shine to defenders continues to dominate discussion. King Nemanja is so convinced that the recent glut of bonus points for defenders is no mere fluke that he is prepared to commit himself to a four at the back formation to ensure his team cashes in. For those wanting to follow his lead he’s come up with some great defensive line ups here.

The Champions League is almost here and in our discussion on the best options out there HeyDudes13 has some great budget options to consider  and Konig Luther’s lengthy list in this thread is also well worth looking at.

Worryingly for the community, international injuries have been mounting up this last week, with Liverpool right back Glen Johnson among those possibly destined for a lengthy stay in the physio room. Archie has been running the rule over the candidates who are likely to replace Johnson while he recovers.

Finally, Maxi’s top ten tips for mini-league success provided some useful, albeit sneaky and underhand, advice for winning a mini-league.

Community Leagues

FFS UEFA’s Transfer Window Simulation (TWS) game came to a finale during the international break with Norwich led by The Shadow being crowned TWS Champions. The rest of the top 5 was rounded off by PeppieandFelix‘s Fulham, Liverpool owned by 4vets, Arsenal guided by Zep and HVT‘s Aston Villa. FFS UEFA also tell us that places are still up for grabs in their FA Cup style game. If you are interested sign up here  by the deadline of 11:59pm BST, September 22. Those already involved in the FFS UEFA leagues and those who applied unsuccessfully to be a part of that competition have all been given an automatic space so do not need to apply.

Played my WC peeps. Would love some feedback. I want this to be a solid backbone for the next 7 weeks.

    Mingolet (Davis)
    Chester, Dawson, Collins (Ward, Chambers)
Ozil, Lampard, Y Toure, Hernandez (JWP)
    Giroud, RVP, Benteke.

I feel like perhaps my defence needs some work? Who is the best 5mil Defender that is mostly nailed on.

Mostly nailed on? I don't really like the 5m defenders. Think it's 5.5 up or 4.5 down. The reason the defence is weak is that you're too tempted by attacking assets. Get at least two defenders in the 5.5+ bracket.

Your defence is pretty desperate. If you've got .5 in the bank I'd go ozil to walcott and collins to mert

If you're going for a budget backline then you should surely go for Wisdon (and hope he plays, not kelly)

    For coming gw rtm 1-10

    Boruc (Westwood)

    Ferdinand-Zab- Coleman (Collins,Turner)

    Silva-Wally-HBA-Nolan (Whittingham)

    Sturridge-Soldado(c)-Negredo

1 FT which I might use to Negredo->Benteke. Also thinking about benching Nolan instead of Whitt.

RVP and a Brady type player
    Or
    Coutinho/Michu and Soldado.?

This is where I am. Easy enough to swap both combos between one another. So which one for this weekend?
